CSULA students have the chance to make their voice heard in one of the most competitive Congressional races in California--vote for progressive David Kim in California's 34th Congressional District if you haven't already!

CSULA is located in California's 34th Congressional District, and students living in the district for school are eligible to vote here as long as they haven't submitted a ballot for the November election elsewhere. If you aren't registered in CA-34, you can use same-day registration at a polling place to vote in CA-34 (even if you have previously registered elsewhere, as long as you haven't submitted a ballot anywhere yet in this November election).

The 34th District has the chance to elect a real progressive, David Kim, to Congress! He is running against the current Congressman Jimmy Gomez, whose funding comes almost entirely from special interests like for-profit healthcare companies, AIPAC, and fossil fuel companies. Jimmy Gomez does not represent the working-class people of LA. In contrast, David Kim is a children's court lawyer who supports Medicare for All, affordable housing, a ceasefire and arms embargo, comprehensive climate policy, and many other progressive policies (see his website linked above for more info). David has been so close to beating Jimmy Gomez in the past two elections, and every vote counts this year to finally elect a progressive to represent LA in Congress! Please vote in CA-34 and encourage your friends and family to do the same!

How is CIS: Cybersecurity?

After deciding to transfer from ELAC and finally getting accepted for Fall 2025. I’d like to ask current or former students what they think of CIS. Any tips, advice, things to look out for, resources, things you wish you knew before, applications/software used, etc. Thanks!

How is the Accounting department?

Hello everyone, I’m currently at MtSac community college getting ready to transfer next year and my counselor suggested I look at csula as it’s close to home. I’m just curious how the Accounting (or business admin) department is and if csula is a good school for this major. Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated!

Forensic Specialist Certificate

Can someone give me some insight on the Forensics Specialist Program? I am finishing CC and wanted to apply to CSULA but deciding to take a small break. I saw that CSULA has this program and wanted to know if I need to be enrolled in the B.S program or can I just apply. Another information is welcomed.

Off-campus housing help

Hey everyone! I realized off-campus housing at CSULA is not the best, I personally had a stressful experience finding a roommate and a place to live near campus. I was thinking of creating something similar to what CSULB has for off-campus housing. Do you think it would be useful and would it be worth creating it? https://www.instagram.com/csulbuniverse_housing/

Getting in Undeclared or with a less-impacted major?

Applying for Fall 2025. I am a California resident but with O/A Levels result (International Coursework). My grades are not really up to the mark. I want to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering or Data Science or a major related to engineering.

Do I have a better chance of getting in as Undeclared or choose a major with which is less impacted and later shift to my intended major?

Exchange student coming from the UK

I'm a current second year student studying a Bachelors in English Lit & Creative Writing at University of Surrey in the UK (just outside of London). As part of my degree, my school offers an exchange program during the third year (next year for me), and one of the options is California State LA. I've never been to the States before, but I've always wanted to visit California and I had a friend who did their exchange year in LA a few years back and had an absolute blast.

I have a couple of questions. Firstly, I don't drive - where I live is extremely pedestrian friendly, and I've just never needed to get a license so I haven't yet. I do plan to at some point, but as it's never been a necessity it's just not something I've gotten to. Now I've heard that LA is not the most pedestrian-friendly city. Is this true? Could someone without a license still get around with reasonable ease whilst living there for a few months? Are there decent enough transport links so that in my free time I'd still be able to go and checkout the local sights and scenery? Obviously I'd be there to study, but I'd also like to do a bit of exploring while I'm over there.

The next thing; I'm a mature student. I started my degree last year when I was 30. By the time I come out to do my exchange year, I'll be 32. Obviously while I'm there I would hope to meet people and make friends, but I worry about the age gap between myself and other students. Are there many mature students at Cal State, or is that not really such a thing? Not that I'm against making friends with people younger than me, I would be open to it, I just wouldn't want to be that weird older girl hanging out with all the 19 year olds haha.

I probably have more questions, but in the interest of not rambling on I'll leave it there. If anybody has any insight or advice for me, I'd really appreciate it. I am looking at other options - my school has connections with a bunch of universities in the US so there are plenty to choose from. I've just always wanted to visit Los Angeles so currently Cal State is my first choice. Thanks in advance!

Is there speech therapy at CSULA?

Hi yall, I have had a lisp my entire life and I have grown tired of it, I was wondering is there is a something like speech therapy offered somewhere at this school? I understand I can get it somewhere else but I would prefer to do it on campus if possible as that would be more convenient for me, thanks!

What is the Accounting MS Program like & the Options?

Hi! I want to pursue a Masters program in Accountancy at CSULA, and I was wondering if anyone could share their experience in the program. Also, what option did you choose, and what was the program like in terms of that? Currently, I am thinking about choosing the Information Systems or Tax option, and if anyone could share their experience in those two specific options-- that would be really great, too!

Good bars close to campus

A fellow Grad student and I talked about grabbing a beer this Thursday. Anyone know any good places to grab a drink?
