Greetings.
I didn't think that I was awarded any scholarships because there was nothing on my financial aid statement like three weeks into this fall semester, but lo and behold I got random money in my account like halfway through the semester. I got the Miller scholarship and found information on the scholarship application that you get it twice a year (fall/spring).
I also got the Ernst & Young Endowed scholarship, but there was no info on that page and I didn't see anything about it online. Only thing I found was a $30,000 one and I definitely did not get that (mine was $3,500).
Has anyone gotten the EY one? Trying to figure out if it is twice a year like the Miller one or if it's just once a year in the fall. Financial Aid office wasn't any help. They said they just know to send money, but no other information.
Please leave me alone. I cannot walk to class without being asked if I believe in god several times. I love that you love god and you want to share it with everybody, but I’m not interested. I just want to go to class. They’re like the guys at the mall that want to clean your shoes. Again, I have no problem with Christians, but please leave me alone.
I’m thinking of buying a new laptop. I was thinking of a Lenovo or HP bc I’m liking their software recently. I don’t want a MacBook bc that’s way out of budget for me. My current Chromebook is starting to take a dive and it’s lagging and freezing when I have 3 tabs open. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
The classes I’m trying to register for are undergrad classes with a lecture, lab, and “act” sections. What does that usually mean?
I'm planning to take a fully online course, but there's a meeting date. Does that mean I have to go in person? Has anyone taken the CSU fully online course?
Hi I'm an out of state student applying to the grad program right now. I'm not familiar with the area so I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for off campus housing areas, how to find apartments, or on campus housing options
Hey Everyone,
I have a quick question about student course evaluations. Specifically, when leaving feedback (Part B), do professors receive the feedback immediately after we complete the evaluation, or is it only sent to them after grades have been finalized?
Happy Friday everyone,
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. For those of you who are newly admitted, did you have to pay the tuition first before you had to register? I understand that cotinuing students have to, but I am wondering if newly admitted students do? My registration is in December and I am a going for a second bacceleraute.
i'm sorry in advance for this dumb question but i've tried googling and can't find a clear answer.
the SUG award on my account says it'll be disbursed on jan 11, 2025 but tuition is due tomorrow (my registration date is dec 3). when i went to pay it shows the full tuition amount, so my question is: if i pay the full tuition now will the SUG get refunded back to me?
I’m currently at a cc finalizing my application and I currently have a gpa of 2.9 not including current classes and spring classes. My major is civil engineering can I still get admitted? I think I read somewhere that engineering isn’t impacted at CSULA so I’m hopping it betters my chances. I’m also going to a local cc. Please let me know you experiences and if I can get in. I’m going crazy rn😭.
Hello, I've been hearing rumors lately that Matlab at ELAC is equivalent to Matlab here. Could anyone confirm if this is true or a hoax?
do you know how much for 15 units per semester
I got accepted into CSULA early into lockdown and then I was unable to afford it so I never ended up taking any classes. Fast forward to today I'm interested in taking classes again now that I'm in a better situation. Any advice on how to go about it? Anything i should know to help expedite the process or ease myself into it?
Edit: This is a transfer situation for a BS in Kinesiology (might change the major but that's a bit up in the air right now)
Re-edit: Looks like reapplying really is my option. Thank you for the confirmation everyone 🙏🏼
hi! i am attending CSULA in january as a grad student and i was relying on my cal grant to help me with tuition. turns out cal grant doesn’t even cover grad school (that’s on me— i should have researched more) so i’m kinda shit out of luck.
i’m an ab540 student so i file the dream act but their deadline was in may. i didn’t even know i wanted to go to school back then 😭 i just spoke to FA and they said i will most likely have to pay out of pocket and then apply for the school grant through dream act for next fall.
i even looked into the dream loan but also missed the deadline for that in may. i’m moving down to LA and paying for rent so tbh i’m broke… i’m going to speak to the payment office and see if i can work out an alternate payment plan than the 4 month they offer on the portal.
i’ve already started looking for scholarships to apply to but most of them are awarded next spring. do third party scholarships only pay directly to the school? or does it come to me— like can i get reimbursed for my tuition essentially?
also does anyone know of any loan options for non citizens?
Does anyone know if there will be any food courts open during this thanksgiving break? Still have to work on campus.
What’s up, I just transferred here at the start of the semester and I am trying to figure out if I should take a winter ge class or not. It’s PAS 1100 and I just want to get it out of the way. Would it be a good idea to take it over the winter or would that be a lot of work and affect my potential at getting an A. Please let me know.
I’m currently in my first semester. Honestly felt lost with finding my classes even with meeting with counselors throughout this semester. Any elective classes recommendations that aren’t so hard or easy work load?
I’m in the first semester at the moment and wanted to see how summer courses are. Any tips on getting classes or has anyone taken more than one class during the summer? I want to get ahead since I’m only able to take four classes at the moment.
I had a bunch of F, and W’s. I also was in and out of city college for 8+ years 😢. But the last 3 semesters of city college I received A’s, B’s and C’s. Anyone on here or got accepted also have bad beginning or grades? I just am wondering how likely for a person like me to get in.
I also applied to other universities just incase. I want to get into CSULA because this the most closet university to where I am living.
Found out had ADHD. Explains some reasons why I was unmotivated the first years of community college. I’m doing much better now.
Hey guys, I was waitlisted for one of my class on my last semester Spring 2025. I needed this class along with my other which is an internship class that I already got. My registration date is pretty far behind and my waitlist is number one. What should I do?
If I’m transferring from SMC, would I still be able to make it into CSULA if I’m missing one lower division major requirement?
I’m trying to transfer from SMC to a Cal State and I was initially going for Cal State Long Beach. I’m studying Economics/Finance. Should I consider Cal State LA and why?
I’m also wondering, will employers still consider me a good candidate (top firms in finance) if I graduate from Cal State LA?
So I previously asked this question on here and never got an answer so I thought I’d try my luck given next semester is coming up. I am currently a freshman living in South Village Housing, I am trying to get out of said housing. Am I automatically signed up for housing for this upcoming spring semester or do I have to fill out the Housing forms again? I would like to cancel as I frankly cannot afford to live on campus anymore, any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Alone at dorms bored anyone want to talk or text ?
Hello, can I take plates back to my dorm?

Hello all! I am working on my dissertation project and would appreciate any participants who have 15-20 minutes to complete my survey. The qualifications for my survey are that you are at least 18 years or older, an undergraduate student, and identify with the Latinx community. At the end of completion, there is an opportunity to enter a raffle for an Amazon gift card. Here is the link https://alliant.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_82oVyhwq33bLDWC
I'm currently a senior in highschool and I want to be an actor in the future so I'm currently looking into a bunch of schools near and in LA. I haven't heard a lot about CSULA and I wanted to know if the theater program was worth it because the website makes it seem good, but I'd rather have a real experience. Some other colleges I'm considering are CSUN, CSULB, and CSUCI. If anyone could tell me about the audition process to be a theater major that would also be great, thank you!
