SARS-Cov2 genome generation with generative AI

A simple app that generates SARS Cov2 genomes given some environmental conditions. It also generates other genomes like Dengue Virus, Hepatitis B Virus and the Hemagglutinin and neuraminidase genes from the influenza virus.

Susceptibility/Prevalence Calculator

Hi

Here's a small SARSCov2 susceptibility/prevalence calculator, it uses a series of environmental features to make the forecast. Sources and other resources are listed inside the cite.

Is anyone working on creating a cybernetic immune system?

I know it's possible to manipulate genes using electricity. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/health/a44714690/scientists-control-human-genes-with-electricity/ I think given the compounding threats of infectious diseases and the climate crisis that this could be crucial for our long term survival. Imagine if your own body could manufacture vaccines and or medication. Imagine if getting a vaccine was as simple as downloading a software patch.

Your view as a patient/caregiver is important! Quick COVID-19 survey for educational projects

Hi everyone! We are a medical education provider for healthcare professionals and patients, looking to create an educational program about COVID-19 for healthcare providers such as doctors and nurses. These educational programs are important to educate providers with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, diagnose and treat people with COVID-19.

We would like to ask some questions about you and your experience of COVID-19 care. This information will help us plan this upcoming free educational program for healthcare providers.

The information you provide will be kept entirely confidential and will never be traced back to you as an individual. This information will be used for statistical and research purposes only, not for any financial use, and will be stored securely. Demographic questions help us better ensure we are reaching people from all age groups, genders, and regions. However, if there are any questions you do not wish to answer, you can move on to the next question. If answering as a caregiver or relative, please answer regarding the person you care for.

It only takes a few minutes! Click here to start: https://forms.gle/Sv2XadZmCDp5Ywq17

Thank you so much for your help!

SARS Cov2 and Machine Learning

Hi, my name is Octavio and I have been working for some time on a variety of methods to analyze SARS Cov2 sequences. Mainly the application of deep learning and the design of different data structures. You can find a summary of the different analyses and a preprint here.

https://github.com/TavoGLC/SlidingSampling

Methods models and data have been published in Kaggle and GitHub.

https://www.kaggle.com/tavoglc

Currently, I'm looking to expand my computational capabilities to increase the performance of the techniques but funding continues to be an issue.

https://tavoglc.substack.com/

To obtain some funds I'm posting on substack a series where I explain how these methods work and the possible applications. Posts are open but comments are closed to paid subscribers. Hope you can check it out and subscribe :)

HOW COVID IMPRINTS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM The immune system responds more strongly to the first strain of a virus that it encounters than to subsequent strains. Can this ‘imprinting’ be overcome?

SiDock - Run a program on your computer in the background, help develop open-source COVID therapeutics!

Sidock@home is an international volunteer computing project aimed at drug discovery. The first mission of the project is discovery of possible drugs against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It started as an extension of the project 📷 COVID.SI to engage the BOINC community into the drug discovery.

You participate by downloading a free program (Mac, Windows, and Linux) and setting it to run calculations in the background. It won't hurt your computer (computers are designed to compute!) and can be set to run only when the machine is idle so it won't slow anything down. I've been "crunching" SiDock since 2020 and love knowing my results are being tested in labs and that the science is all open source.

[Seeking Participants] Study on Presence and Engagement levels in Online Learning (Age 18+)

Hi everyone, I'm currently completing my thesis for my BSc in Psychology. My research is looking into presence and engagement levels of students with experience in online learning (as COVID postponed the amount of face-to-face, traditional learning that was taking place).

I'm really in need of some more participants so anyone over the age of 18, with experience in online learning environments is very welcome to take part. Here's the link: https://forms.office.com/r/RLfuvP0Txw

Should take up approx. 7 minutes of your time.

Thank you to everyone who participates, it is much appreciated.

Contribute an Interview

Hi folks.

I’m an anthropologist who studies paradigm shifts. For the past two years I’ve been interviewing folks around the world about their pandemic experiences. We are wrapping up interviews on March 23 so writing and document compiling can begin. I’d like to personally invite you to sign up to contribute an interview during our final month. You’re welcome to interview anonymously and we are very serious about protecting identity. Feel free to PM me with questions or custom time slots for your time zone. Thanks so much. https://storiesofcovid.co

COVID Moonshot project discovers new anti-viral, credits folding@home volunteers in their paper

This is a big milestone for one of most exciting and hopeful international scientific collaborations humanity has ever seen. All the data gathered by this project is open and patent-free, and they plan to begin clinical trials in 2023. Their goal is to produce an affordable, shelf-stable, patent-free, oral COVID-19 cure.

Folding@home volunteers are credited in the paper's acknowledgement section:

"We employed Folding@Home a worldwide distributed computing network where hundreds of thousands of volunteers around the world contributed computing power to create the world’s first exascale computing resource to compute the free energy of binding of all 20,000+ crowdsourced submissions"

"We also thank the numerous volunteers that contributed compound designs to the COVID moonshot and to the citizen scientist volunteers of Folding@home for donating their computing resources, and Amazon Web Services for key support of Folding@home infrastructure"

To learn more about COVID moonshot, check out their website. If you're interested in talking about more ways that crypto can help scientific development, be sure to check out /r/cryptoforscience as well.

Wait, what does crypto have anything to do this this? Volunteers participating in Folding@Home are eligible to receive free crypto from both /r/banano and /r/curecoin. In fact, Banano is literally the top team in terms of work completed at Folding@Home, ahead of even Linus Tech Tips! Another great example of a project where volunteer computing being incentivized by crypto is helping advance the cause of science and medicine.
