Playing around with yet another 1957 scenario. Greece is about to get an unwelcome surprise from the Soviets and the Bulgarians...
I’m making a scenario where an enemy submarine tries to penetrate an anti sub screen and sink an aircraft carrier, but it always engages the escorts and ignores the aircraft carrier since it usually hears and identifies the escorts before it can even hear the carrier. Any way to get it to positive ID the escorts and then ignore them to try and find the carrier?
As a small time robotics developer I would love to examine various potential robotic solutions to a certain rather critical war happening in Europe right now.
Does anyone know if there is an economical PE license available through any channel?
The key requirements being able to model things like, a robot has a range of X, a speed of Y, can find targets at a range of Z with a probability of A given a range, and so on.
This would somewhat go to proving if a given solution has any value when put into a somewhat realistic scenario. So far these solutions have looked good when simulated individually in a proper simulator. But, not as a part of a greater whole.
Thanks
I'm starting to brainstorm my next Khrushchev's War scenario, and I'm running into a little trouble tracking down some information.
Does anyone know (or know how to find out) what radars were used by Greece in the 1950s? And where were they stationed? I'm thinking there might have been some older American ones (we were giving them ships, so why not radars?) like the SCR-270 or the AN/TPS-1. But I simply don't know.
If the information simply isn't available, would it be reasonable to just use existing sites like Skyros and Pelion?
In addition, does anyone know if any Nike (I think Ajax was the only model deployed before 1957) missiles were deployed in Greece in the 1950s? If so, where were they based?
Thanks in advance.
Just posted a new beta for testing, part of the Khrushchev's War campaign. A lone Greek submarine must intercept a Soviet convoy and destroy as many ships as possible. Can you do it?
As always, please let me know what you think. Are there any issues with gameplay, the units selected, events, the way the orders are written, tactics employed by the Soviets, etc.? What else could be done to make the scenario more interesting and more challenging? Thanks in advance!

Can you add your own weapons? Drones being somewhat high on that list?
Can the lua reach out to other code. ML is done in Python, so can lua send network stuff out.
Can the lua participate in a simulation in "real time" that is, can it be making decisions?
I do know there is a PE, but I am fairly certain there is a zero percent chance I can afford that. I was happy to see it on sale right now as that made it affordable enough.
Thanks.
I have created a CEZ to simulate a warmer weather front moving across the North Atlantic but when i edit the zone on the 'Nature' side, changing the cloud level, sea state etc, it seems to change the waether for the whole planet, not just the zone contained within the RP's. Am i doing something wrong here as i find this a bit confusing?
Music or ambience, or both? Any recommendations to my small collection?
Ambience I use:

I see this topic is get mentioned but I'm not sure how to actually do it. And how do you know when to rebuild a scenario?
EDIT: so I think I understand the how (mostly). It's part of the Scenario Editor and falls under the Database sub-menu.
So now my question is how to do this.most efficiently? It looks like there's an option to rebuild multiple scenarios at once using something called a "Scenario List". Making that list looks like a minor annoyance, but seems the most reasonable way to proceed (especially since it keeps track of the INI file locations too)
A couple of thoughts...
I've been seeing a lot of videos for SEA POWER recently. They're a lot of fun--the game looks beautiful, although there are still a few bugs that need to be addressed. My initial impression is that the database(s) is a lot smaller than the ones Command provides (from what I could see, it looks like it is limited to 1965-1985 platforms, although I may be wrong about that). I also don't know how good a simulation it is (i.e., how accurate is its information). It certainly looks fun to play, though.
I'm wondering if this would be a good time for Matrix Games and/or Warfare Sims to start putting out a few Command playthrough videos on Youtube. Set up a few simple (or not-so-simple) battles to show off what Command can do, including the ability to employ unique or obscure or hypothetical platforms, and put together some half-hour YouTube videos. The kind of thing someone could watch while eating lunch.
A key issue...get a player with a great voice. Command has a disadvantage compared to some games...you're mostly just looking at a map. While this can be immersive for players, it may be less so for spectators (and potential buyers). The person providing the play-by-play, as it were, reacting to events and explaining what they mean, needs to have the kind of personality who can draw people in as they watch it, make a map with some icons into a stirring drama, etc.
Anyway, just a couple of thoughts.
A new beta, possibly the first in a series set in 1957. You can find it here...

The Cold War just got hot. The Soviets have attacked air bases across Europe. Submarines have ambushed NATO ships. NATO is preparing to respond. A French surface group is tasked with clearing the waters south of Sardinia.
As always, please let me know what you think. Suggestions, comments, corrections, etc. for any aspects of the scenario--units selected, phrasing of orders, gameplay, how well events work, scoring, etc.--are all welcome.
Thanks in advance!
I recently returned to playing CMO after a long hiatus and am working to figure out how to better use submarines. The scenario I've been messing around with is Uncle Mark's Tutorials #4, where you're attacking a Soviet convoy with a 688.
Once you find the convoy getting into position to attack is relatively easy. Dash ahead of them and then go slow and deep, let the ships come to you. The challenge is not dying shortly after you start shooting. From what I can tell the most successful tactic is to stay deep, attack with torpedoes from behind enemy ships and to do a quick dash (5-10 minutes at ~20 knots) away from your firing position right after you launch.
Since my sub in this scenario has Mk 48s, Harpoons and TLAMs I've tried attacking with different weapon types. It seems like missile attacks are almost suicidal if there's a helicopter nearby or if you're in range of a rocket-launched torpedo system like the SS-N-14. Shooting missiles also requires you to go shallow which as far as I can tell is also bad. I seem to have a much easier time finding targets with sonar above the layer than they have finding me when I'm below the layer.
Are there other things I'm missing here? Playing this scenario with a nuke boat makes me think that diesel subs are almost always committing suicide if they shoot at a warship since they don't have the ability to run from their firing position the same way.
Hello, I cant hide country names on map (beta 1.06)
they lay over critical map structures.
Is it a beta error, or is there a fix. No "hide country name on map" option in settings shown
I'm currently playing God of War in the CoW DLC and I am having trouble winning it. The Vietnamese establish air superiority although I set my aircraft to fire at around 50-25% range and they still don't hit. Another issue is that although I set a No-navigation zone my planes still fly into it getting shot down by SA-2s and SA-3s (I disabled both investigate options in the CAP mission). The problem is that I feel like I get overwhelmed, way too many planes, way too many enemies.
Any tips for me to improve?
So I've got around 1000 hours in the game and tbh I still have no clue what I'm doing really. I've watched tons of videos and tutorials so I do feel comfortable with the basics and know most game and military terminology. That said, recently in making a simple sub hunt scenario I've tried adding some Chinese aircraft to provide a bit of enemy air cover in the search zone. The problem I'm having is that specifically the pairs of fighters I have go up for them will reach bingo fuel state and only one aircraft will RTB the other will continue the AAW patrol until running out of fuel and crashing. I've tried changing everything from fuel state and armamanet statuses to different combinations of Chinese aircraft and experience ratings. It seems my only solutions so far have been using non-chinese aircraft who seem to both RTB together or sending out single fighters on patrol. Anyone have any idea what the issue could be?
I'm trying to strike an airbase with 18 TLAMs. Each missile has a specific target within the airbas facility.
I would like to employ terrain masking for each missile where all missiles follow the same attack course early on, and only fan out to their individual targets towards the very end
I was hoping I might be able to do something like this in the Mission Editor but I can't see that there's a way.
What's the recommended approach to handle a large TLAM strike like this?
Hey all, picked up C:MO a while ago, finally got round to playing it. Tried canarys cage but got kerbstomped, so I figured I'd try brother against brother because apparently its easier.
So I managed to get my helicopters to find the rebel base, but when I tried to "Unload cargo" they kept flying around in circles until my airforce finally got fragged and then the helos got strafed by flankers.
I honestly don't know what I'm meant to do, but I just can't get the troops to deploy. I didn't have a problem deploying the dive teams on canarys cage, but this just ain't working.
Thanks!
So I was playing Kushans Iran Strike 2025 mission normally and then suddenly. I see that one of my F-35s got shot at. It got shot down by a MiG-21 or some other aircraft (Maybe J-7 idk). I noticed that they were directly over enemy lines and to now I'm curious, how can I prevent the braindead AI from flying my F-35s directly into enemy territory?
Just did a fresh install of 64 bit CMO and updated it to build 1463.
The map layers are definitely not working correctly. The country borders are basically non-existent (The only way to see them is to turn off all the other layers). Also, the map labels don't always scale correctly when moving/zooming requiring (again) that I disable all layers and then reenable. There's also some strange artifacting where I can see parts of layers that are not Anyone know what the heck is going on or how to fix?
Seems like in moving to 64-bit some very basic (and obvious) CMO functionality got broken. Now wondering if I can trust that nothing more hidden didn't also break...?
EDIT: sounds like Matrix knows there is a problem but likely won't be fixing it anytime soon
I'm having a problem with ASW missions particularly the advanced ASW scenario. I give the aircraft zones, they drop their buoys I find subs half the time and then even though the location is found and not moving my aircraft don't fire their torpedos? They are on asw patrol and at only 1000 feet in area. What's the optimal height for finding subs? Is it different for aircraft such as the Nimrod and P3 compared to Helos?
I'm thinking of starting a new scenario design project...a linked set of scenarios that will eventually serve as a campaign with a common backstory. I'm assuming a pretty typical "plot"--Soviet sneak attacks (probably about six months after some crisis convinces Soviet leadership they need to take the initiative and go to war sooner rather than later), NATO counter-attacking until it can blunt the Soviet advance, and then liberating those countries the Soviets have occupied.
Here's my question...
When should I set this? In theory, anywhere from about 1950 to 1990 is possible. But what would you like to see? I was toying around with the idea of a 1957 start date for a campaign (in this timeline, the events of 1956, coming so soon after Stalin's death, really spooks the Soviet leadership) This would mean a war with few if any guided missiles, early jets, ships featuring guns rather than missiles, virtually no nuclear subs, etc. What do people think?
Thanks in advance.
(By the way, I'm not worried about whether or not the Soviets are "making a mistake"...lots of wars have started because of miscalculations, etc. I'm mostly just curious about what kind of campaign(s) people would like to see.)
Done some reading, and whenever I search for scaling options, I only find posts about issues with 4k. That's not an issue for me, the game looks normal, it is just very small. Can I somehow change the size of the UI to be bigger? Is there some sort of "graphics" settings like in other games or software?
