Hello, I had a slight tear in my meniscus last year outside of work, dr said i shouldnt need surgery since it wasn’t too bad. I was able to function normally with occasional sharp pain and soreness. But a year later i feel like its getting extremely worse to the point where im icing it almost everyday and using ibuprofen daily. I set up a dr appointment to see what going on. I wanted to ask what happens if i need surgery, if i do itll most likely be a meniscus trimming surgery. I have 3 years in and have gold shield aswell. Will i need to use gold shield or how can i take some time off to recover?

Got emailed for my medical test for blood drawn and drug test but i came down with a bad flu or bug yesterday and have been sick and the only available slots they have are this week (none next week), am i able to call and let them know im sick?

Ive been in the background process for 11 months now is that a normal waiting time?

I applied and tested with Fresno but I’d like to change it to the Sacramento division. Is that possible? My reasoning is that I don’t know if the psychological testing, background investigator interview or medical will be done locally or if I’ll be obligated to drive and test in the areas surrounding Fresno.

A few years ago i applied for a county deputy sheriff position and didn’t get the position. I am just curious when CDCR does their background investigation, can they see when that county looked into my background with Esoph.

I posted earlier what everyone’s thoughts were on the next MOU negotiations. CCPOA sent out a survey link that I hope everyone fills out and put in what they want changed. It’s all a numbers game. So the more people that respond to the survey the better.

Here is the list that I compiled.

1. Change retirement to the state standard for firefighters and peace officers (2.7 @ 55).
2. Adjust salaries to match industry standards, as current pay is 18-20% below peers according to state data.
3. Increase state funding towards healthcare costs or implement cheaper medical insurance through a full overhaul or increased state contributions.
4. Eliminate the Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) contribution. State should pay.
5. Reduce retirement contributions to a maximum of 9%.
6. Increase the EAP counseling sessions from 28 (7/problem type, 4 problem types) annually to 52 annually.
7. Introduce the option for compensatory time in lieu of overtime pay.
8. Implement electronic 998s.
9. Add medical response/life-saving measures as criteria for Enhanced Industrial Disability Leave (EIDL).
10. Provide locker rooms that meet industry standards, including an assigned locker for every officer.
11. Modernize uniform policies to align with industry standards: reserve Class A uniforms for ceremonies and funerals, not for routine use in hospitals or staff entrances.
12. Update grooming standards to allow facial hair, including beards, in line with evolving industry practices.
13. Clarify language regarding Segment 2 of IERC to allow more than one union representative to attend meetings.
14. Allow officers to become certified for duty use with personal firearms, a practice already permitted for statewide transportation and parole.
15. Provide clarification and documentation regarding marijuana use and testing in regard to disciplinary matrix.
16. Increase the 401k contribution to a 100% match up to 7%.
17. The ability to review Body Worn Camera (BWC) at anytime for RVR’s, 837’s, etc.
18. Allow more discretion when to activate BWC and not go towards the 24/7 mandate of being on.
19. Support legislation to make Correctional Officers exempt from jury duty.
20. Increase paid time off.
21. Eliminate or reduce mandatory overtime to once a week. The state should figure out its own staffing issues without infringing on our personal lives. 80 hours of mandatory OT is too much.
22. Remove the OT penilty for pre scheduled holidays/Vacation/PDD. Should only count towards sick leave.
23. With the 30x30 initiative we need more maternity light duty posts and lactation room availability.
24. Higher continuing education incentives.
25. Increase uniform allowance to $1500 to account for inflation.
26. To align with California Labor Law, anything over 12 hours will be double time and also considered a “double”.
27. 5% increase for working in an RHU, ASU, lock up.

On the OPOS-CSC, NSC, SSC forms. I just noticed that it mentioned to be completed two business days after receiving our confirmation notice.I received my notice already, but I didn't notice that the form mentioned about the two business days. Am I disqualified if I don't complete this because I was informed that the forms had to be completed before we reached the academy and the forms won't be accepted after December 14 and I start the academy in January? Can someone please relief me because I'm worried.

This fiscal analysis of the current MOU (which was established in 2023 and which will be re-negotiated next year) is an interesting read because it provides insight regarding the arguments CCPOA will be up against when they negotiate our compensation. For example, there's a lot of discussion regarding our retirement benefits and how they've changed over time.

I applied for reinstatement on June 2024 and didn’t received any update till now. And I recently saw a post that they have to check with their DSO whether they’re enrolled in every semester or not. How can we know that we are enrolled by our DSO in ever semester when we’re under reinstatement process

Does anyone know if I’m able to get a extension to turn in the clearance from my doctor to cdcr? I had to get more labs done due to some levels being high so cdcr sent me to my primary doctor and now I need to get more testing done . I would hate to not be able to get cleared after the whole process , the form says I only have 15 days
