If you are 2% at 62 or something along those formulas for retirement, then your code is 2M. This is the basic miscellaneous code. If it is something else or you are Saftey/Industrial then you'll have to check with your PS, ask them what code is showing as your Retirement Code on your PIMS Screen.
To use this, place the following into their respective fields:
-Flex Cash (when it returns) and COBEN Cash goes in Flex Cash Option
-Total Other Flex Deductions is health, dental, vision, premier vision
-Total A/R is if you ever have/expect an A/R to come out of your check
-Total-Voluntary Deductions is most everything else such as ARAG, special deductions for your bank, fees

Hi all! I was informed that I was approved for my annual 5% raise and was wondering if this can be withdrawn and can I instead get a range change ( I do qualify for the range change) but found out I qualify after my 5% was approved.
Thanks everyone!
Hi everyone,
I just passed the bar (yay) and now I'm on the hunt for a job. There have been a good amount of Attorney I positions open lately, and I'm wondering if anyone around here has any experience with State Attorney I positions. Is it going to take me a long time to hear back? I know it's the holiday season but bar results are always released this time of year - so do they typically interview/hire in December/January? Is it really competitive? I'm pretty anxious to find and start a job so I'm curious if anyone has advice/tips/background on these entry positions!
Hi, I was wondering can the state let me work 5 hours every Monday instead of 8 hours? Or do I have to be on FMLA?
Hello, I'm hoping I'm just missing something simple and not getting it.
I am trying to sign up for the Office Technician (General) exam, but when I try to proceed to take the exam, it tells me "Your responses to the Minimum Qualifications questions resulted in disqualification".
I have 3 years of, clerical experience, in terms of education I have my bachelors degree so I just put the amount of units I completed which was around 130.
I'm having a hard time understanding what makes me unqualified to even attempt to take the exam? When it tells me to review the qualifications on the same page, the link 404's.
Can someone please explain? Thank you
Question: if a person has worked as an analyst in private industry for 5 years, but does not have a college degree and has not worked for the state can they meet the mq’s to take the exam?
Is there anyone here with experience in an Actuarial Analyst position? I’m curious to learn more about the responsibilities, the skills required for this role, the necessary degree, and what the day-to-day work entails.
Does anyone know how long I can be out while having my portion of the insurance covered? I thought it was 6 months someone else said 12 months.
Has anyone done this exam? Do I write an essay style paper answering the questions or can I do individual paragraphs or bulletin points answering the questions? It doesn’t specify how they want it written, they only specify the questions they want answered.
Is this bad? Frowned upon? Not allowed? Allowed as long as you have the time?
Is there some rule where if you take over a month it needs to be signed off by a division chief? Or something?
Thanks
Hi
Any idea about the DWR Engineer, Water Resources Written Hurdle Exam?
This exam is required for engineers who has graduated from non abet universities?
Hi! Has anyone with chronic illness ever had a reasonable accommodation approved to be able to move out of California? My health is declining & I currently 100% telework. But I need to move to family in another state so they can help care for me (cooking, laundry, etc) so I can keep working. I’m too young to retire, can’t afford to retire, don’t want to retire yet. Disability doesn’t pay much either so I don’t want to go that route unless I have to. Having family around to help would allow me to keep doing my job that I love.
Hi i am wondering if the state jobs for SSA or AGPA test for marijuana? I occasionally smoke and have been interested in an AGPA position for awhile but don’t want to apply until the marijuana is out of my system incase they do test unless they don’t. if anyone can let me know if they had to test for it before beginning their job id really appreciate it 😊
Hi! I start in my new role with the state (yay!) this next week and I’m looking for any recommendations on parking near the NRA building. TIA!
Let’s say i started a position for a Motor vehicle representative at DMV , and then the following week i have an interview at a different department for SSA/AGPA, how would I go about this?
should i just decline interview and wait until I am close to finishing probation before applying for other ssa/agpa jobs?
What would you guys do? I’m sure it would look bad to start a new position and go to an interview 2 days after starting..
If you are an Office Technician for 6 months and pass probation and then decide you want to be an SSA/AGPA within the same department, how would you do so (assuming your manager likes you and knows you are overqualified for the position)
I know you have to re-apply and interview, but what if your current department has no listing available? How does promotion work in the state? Would I just have to apply for SSA/AGPA at another department in order to move up?
CalPers Medicare open enrollment period ended six weeks ago. I have a local gym that I love that's been part of "Renew Active," UHC's fitness plan. UHC just notified me that their dropping that gym (and a few others in my town). My options are down to two inadequate gyms. (I had even called UHC during Open Enrollment to confirm my gym membership for the upcoming year. Nothing was mentioned about the upcoming drop.)
Anthem offers better plans for me. I only chose UHC because the gym membership made it worth it. So am I stuck with this an for 2025? Can the company make such a significant change to my MA policy after Open Enrollment has ended?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
I could really use some extra money and am willing to work more. I am ITS 1 at DDS. Is there a way to maybe ask HR for an additional part time role of some sort within the department for more hours?
Thought it was higher than normal, then checked on CalConnect. No deduction for retirement. I’m assuming this is an error? Where do I start the correction process?
Question:
I was promoted in place on 10/15 from SSA to AGPA.
I was under the impression that I my new salary would be reflected on this most recent paycheck, but I just saw it was the exact same as last month.
Is this normal? Should I reach out to HR? I was relying on the new pay bump for Christmas gifts this year.
Has anyone had experience with the no cost military leave option as a calpers member? I know veterans becoming state workers is more common, but I’ve been with my public service agency for 5 years now (vested) and want to enlist in the military for 4 years. From my understanding I will get 4 years of service for PERS as long as it’s honorable and I return to my employer in the appropriate time frame. I’m just curious if anyone has actually successfully done this? CalPERS said I just tell my employer I’m taking military leave and then return..
Does anyone who has BofA get their check Thursday morning deposited just to have it disappear Friday? The bank says they see no pending deposits or record but I always get my check the day after pay day (which I saw it there Thanksgiving) but it is gone and I don’t see it anymore.
I interviewed for an Office Assistant position at a CHP area office about three weeks ago. Since then, I’ve completed a live scan and a few other background checks. Recently, they contacted my current employer, which has me a little concerned because I haven’t told them I’m exploring other opportunities yet. While I know there won’t be any retaliation, I’m not ready to have that conversation since I’m still uncertain if I’ll be offered the job. The only reason I know they called and spoke to my supervisor is because one of my co-workers was present when they called. Does the CHP typically contact current employers only when they are close to extending an offer, or is this just a routine part of the process?
some companies in the private sector pay for a percentage of masters tuition or offer tuition assistance/reimbursement. does the state offer this as well?
edit: i work for CalEPA. but a general consensus is no 😂
Can anyone tell me how to handle this situation? Our office has 2 SSM Specialists and two AGPAs. The work we do is the same. The work isn’t divided out between SSM (Specialist) level work and AGPA level work. It’s assigned based on what needs to be done. Often, AGPAs are doing SSM work and SSMs are doing AGPA work. Is this a situation where AGPAs could be working out of class?
I'm thinking of switching departments to CALPIA in Folsom because it's closer to home. I'm currently an AGPA, I'm wondering how is it working there. How many in office days are required, how busy is it, is the no Phone policy true and anything else you would like to share about CALPIA to help me decide. I have an interview next week.
Thank you in advance!
Hi Folks,
Happy Thanksgiving in case you are reading this post-pumpkin pie
I have an advanced degree and worked in big tech (not the eng side) for a couple years. I moved home after one of the big layoffs and was able to get an AGPA position a couple years ago, but after 3 months decided the department wasn't for me.
I'm now the director of operations as a small manufacturing firm -- weird trajectory, I know.
I'm applying for SSM 1 roles, and am curious if anyone has interview tips/experiences/wisdom to share about navigating this kind of space.
**I am aware of the pay cut I am taking and the difference in work between public and private - more than half of my family are state workers, etc., Looking for application tips here. Thank you!
Edit: Can you also describe what your experience and training is and the level of work that you are asked to do, at least generally? Like do you lead programs with autonomy and make independent decisions, or are you asked to run every decision by your supervisor and feel micromanaged, or is it some other situation for you? Thanks!
To my fellow Health Program Specialist II’s, do you feel that the way you are used, the level of work that you are asked to do, under utilizes your experience/training, requires more experience/training than you have or is about appropriate? I’m not speaking about workload, I’m referring to complexity of work assignments, responsibility delegated to you as well as your autonomy level.
I got a response to take some exam after applying. This doesnt seem like the standard behavioral/data structure/algorithm/system design type of online assessment. I saw others say its basically explaining your experience but is it really just that?
What is the step after the exam? Are there live interviews? How many rounds and what type of interviews?
For BofA only. We all know CUs already got paid.
Do you think we will really have to wait for Monday for a deposit?
