2.5x3.5 Button/Magnet Press

Has anyone ever purchased one of these from Tecre or My Button Machine(in China) Does anyone know what the shipping cost is from Tecre to AZ It is an awfully expensive machine to start with! I have also read that sales tax is charged and a credit card processing fee. From Tecre Machine $2200 1000pc supplies $320 sales tax $140 Shipping? Credit card Fee ?

From My button machine: machine $400 1000 pcs supplies $120. Express shipping UPS about $600. For 1000 pieces supplies about$500 shipped UPS

Any info would be helpful this is a big purchase! But I really want to be able to make magnets! (It’s crazy this machine costs more than my Mimaki CG60 AR contour cutting machine!)

Tecre shipping costs

I was interested in ordering button parts from Tecre but I saw that shipping is calculated after you place your order. I know that shipping can vary a lot depending on where you live. But I just wanted to ask people who have ordered from them if their shipping costs are reasonable/worth it.

2.5 inch button maker not working and getting stuck?

I recently got this one and the 1.25 inch works great, but when I use the 2.5 inch attachments the white backing seems to not fit correctly and doesn't work, when i press down the 2 sides don't connect and the white backing gets stuck

What am I doing wrong?

Howdy! I’m using a ChiButtons 1.5” badge maker. I’ve had it for years without issue, but lately almost half of my buttons are coming out like this. Troubleshooting I’ve done with no change in results:

  • bought new button components altogether
  • added one and two metal rings to the bottom press
  • tried lighter weight paper
  • bought new dies

The only change I’ve made in the years I’ve used this is switching to a slightly heavier printer paper, but it’s well within what this press can handle according to the manufacturer, and changing paper weight didn’t immediately cause issues.

Any guesses? I’m so stumped!

Question - VIFERR reviews

Hello! I am here because my partner and I want to purchase a button maker for our friend for his birthday. This brand I saw is VIFERR but I don't see many reviews for it. Does anyone have experience with this button maker brand in particular? I've heard not great things about Vevor, so we're steering clear from that and looking at something else.

If anyone has any experience with this brand in particular, I would love to hear your opinions and reviews!

Thank you so much!

Flatback or Indented for Badge Reels?

Hi,

I'd like to make some badge reels for my nursing friends. I was planning to get and use Flatbacks to then attach to the badge reels with e6000 glue, but I've now seen a whole bunch that are actually using the Indented backs instead. Is one definitely way better than the other, or will the flatbacks work just as well?

Thank you

Heart mold

Hello, i purchased this heart mold from AliExpress, but the first part of the molt just don't work. The mold and the button maker are from different sets but i read that it didn't matter (as you can see, the second part of the mold works just fine). Does someone else have this problem? It seems like the the springs underneath are causing this. Any thought? I also had to saw this piece bc the machine wouldnt let me slide the mold, unbelieveble lol

Newbie size advice

Hello everyone,

I am a garden variety maker (photography, printing, crafts etc) and I’m interested in buying my first button maker from Tecre. I’m a little torn on what size to get. I’m sortve debating between the 1” and 1.25” inch models.

My aim is to make humorous one-off buttons (rather than a series of the same design) to give away to friends and co-workers. I’d like to be able to include short phrases of text like “keep the break room weird” type of thing

One question I have is: how much of a the 1.25” surface do you lose to the curve at the edge of the button? For example, if I want 1.25” of space to design with, should I go for the 1.5” to leave some margin?

Thanks very much!

Collin

PS if there are other recommendations in terms of machine manufacturer— I would welcome them.

buttonmakers.net not working!

Hello! I’m fairly new to button making, but I’ve been using designer.buttonmakers.net. So far it’s been very useful for printing a sheet of buttons to make. Right now though, no matter what i do there isn’t any of my buttons being saved to the website, so it won’t let me print.

How can i get past this problem? How does everyone else make a sheet of buttons the right size??

1.5" punch cutter options?

Hi! I'm ISO a punch cutter for a 1.5" tecre machine (aka something that cuts 1.837" circles). i know tecre and ABM sell them, but i'm on a budget they're way too expensive. does anyone have any suggestions for brands/products that work well instead? would a 1.75" circle punch from a craft store be close enough? i would rly appreciate some advice, thx!

Jammed Machine, Any Help Appreciated

Hello! I work at a public library and inherited this unbranded button maker. It was working fine until halfway through my children's event and then it began to jam. At first, it didn't jam every time but then two small metal pieces fell out of it and totally stopped working. I hope that I can fix it!

Can anyone help to identify what type of machine this is? Or do you have an idea of how to fix it?

Hello! I am wanting to start making buttons as i have always loved and collected them and im ready to start creating my own! im intimidated by the cost of american button machines kits and am looking for something more affordable. id prefer something more beginner friendly, under $200, able to make 1.25/1.5 and 2.25/2.5in pins, and a premade kit to get started with. also any and all tips for button making are greatly appreciated! :) thank you

Advice for fixing button alignment?

My B400 worked great for just shy of 200 buttons and fell out alignment. It probably started slowly and got worse over time. At first i saw some twisted - where the pinback wasn't properly set to the design - i assumed human error. But now it is quite obviously the machine. i've taken it apart. Done as much search as i can. The top press piece seems to be perfectly functional. It's either the A/front or B/back part (as these seem essentially universal for most presses, while the specifics are branded).

Does anyone have any luck on this. I've gotten it close, but it's still about 5^o off of where it should be, which is a lot for words and names.

edit to include link to the machine model I have. I don't know if it's an original or a rebrand: https://chibuttons.com/kit-32mm-1-1-4-pro-badge-machine-button-maker-b400-round-mould-200-pin-parts-handling-cutter13.html

PS: fun fact - i was looking for help when i stumbled upon this reddit and that's why i took up the reigns to mod it, to collect other minds to help solve button maker problems.

edit 2: I have been unsuccessful in fixing it yet but have worked out that the B/back has fallen out of alignment. I have patched the problem temporarily by marking the die with grease pencil (china marker) on the angle to place the pin so that finished pins come out correctly aligned. It wipes off with heat and a bit of rubbing. It doesnt leave marks on the buttons either.

Replacement parts?!

Anyone have leads on which parts available through our evil overlords Amazon, will work best with this button maker? I bought https://a.co/d/4USPz0P these and it was a complete waste of time and money.

This is my second button maker and it seems that finding reliable replacement parts is consistently an issue. This device makes incredible pins but the website charges almost as much in shipping for a pin parts order.

Please help as I have a market coming up soon.

Welcome back, Makers! Mind the dust while we get back in motion.

Hi there, and welcome to the newly reinstated r/ButtonMakers

I just inherited the sub, so i'll be setting things up and learning the ropes.

I want this to be a place to spread knowledge and show off work. Ask questions, make mistakes, and share the love of button making.

Rules will be pretty basic to start out:

  1. Don't spam sales.
  2. SFW only - not even blurred out or implied.
  3. Please be nice to each other, any issues - modmail me!
  4. Stay on topic.

Thanks for visiting & invite your friends!

Confused about sizes

I have been shopping for a button maker and circle cutter, but I can't find good information as to exactly what size circles I would need to make either 1.25" or 1.5" buttons. Can anyone here help me but the correctly sized supplies?

Fabric button badges experience?

I’m on the verge of buying a 56mm second hand button badge machine but I have some questions:

  1. I would like to make button badges with fabric cover instead of foil/Mylar (thin fabric like silk). Do you have experience with that?
  2. It seems that button parts are mostly sold in packages, including the Mylar. Does anyone know of a store that sells separate fronts and backs in Europe? (I could toss out the Mylar but I’m conscious of the environment.)

Thanks for reading!

Printers

What are you using for a printer?
I have, but I'm not a fan of inkjet printers. I usually print my buttons at work on our color copier, but it does not print solid black backgrounds well and I need to find a different solution as my last two orders featured one and I was not happy with the results. Luckily the orders were for good friends so I just gave them a better deal and they were happy with it.

I want to look at a color laser printer for home and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.
