I've been wanting my band to cover a song, and I love Twin Falls so I recorded this demo as a framework of how I would imagine us playing it in our style. It's rough but I thought someone might like it!
An amazing rendition of Carry The Zero by Frances Quinlan of Hop Along. What yall thinking about it?
Doug refers to "sound" in four different songs on Perfect From Now On. In "Randy Described Eternity" he sings, "stop making that sound." In the next song, "I Would Hurt a Fly" he sings, "I can't get that sound you make out of my head." Later in "Made Up Dreams" he sings about "that stupid sound." In "Out of Site" he sings, "what a sight, what a sound".
Are any of these sounds the same sound? Is there a thematic continuity here?
And really, what does the last stanza of "Randy Described Eternity" mean?
Stop making that sound, stop making that sound
I will say I forgot it
But it was only yesterday
And that's all you had to say
My heart melts for Dug ❤️
Howdy friends,
Thought I would share my cover of "Terrible/Perfect" that I recorded about a year ago. Hope you enjoy it, and please leave a like or comment if you do!

Good morning. Insomnia having its effects on me I find my friend Wayne took time in all hallows eve to post a pretty extensive post about the middle halo benders album creative process and talks about what gets posted here from time to time an appearance on real stories of the highway patrol.
You want to know the whole story? Read the link
I heard the story from his lips. I never knew what happened after.

Wut up ma dood(ett)z.
Twin Falls/Some/DDG... Best consecutive 3 song stretch period.
Anyone wanna innernet fight me on dat?
The sphere needs to be A LOT larger but still pretty cool.
I asked ChatGPT to make a picture based on the song. First try was meh, ok. So I just put the specific lyrics in and it gave me a different one with Jupiter in the background and a small sphere. I said, the sphere should be ten times the size of Jupiter. It said, Im right and did this. Then I ran out of the free entries.
Im gonna keep trying and do all sorts of songs. I always wanted to draw songs but I am absolutely shite at artistry, but good at description.
did anyone here go and see bts play saturday evening? looks like they may have been on before unwound.
I got into Built to Spill with I Would Hurt a Fly and Untrustable / Part 2 (About someone else) and then the whole Perfect From Now on. Then attended a show and loved the whole discography.
But I always liked PFNO the best and especially the songs with weird and unusual riffs, also the mellower ones, but have busy choruses and refrains.
I discovered The Last Long Song, which seems to be written and recorded after PFNO, judging by the instruments used and Doug hating writing longs songs after being burnt out from writing PFNO. I immediately loved the song and it probably is my favourite. It's on a compilation "Here: A Fort Hazel Magic Compilation".

New fan. So far I've listened to There's Nothing Wrong with Love, Perfect From Now On, Keep it like a Secret, and There is no Enemy.
So far, Perfect From Now On is probably my overall favorite.
I'm looking for other band recommendations that are in the same vein. Older, newer, doesn't matter.
I appreciate any suggestions.
Edit: Thank you to everyone who commented! I'll be checking out every suggestion. I'm familiar with a lot of them but a good amount are new to me.
Definitely hoping it goes up on the band's merch page at some point. Wasn't able to catch any shows on this year's tour and thus missed getting an opportunity to buy one.
Built to Spill lineups:
*Touring lineup only. No studio recordings to date.
Notes:
The Mark V lineup of Bertram and Schneider as rhythm section, though short-lived and without any studio recordings, was instrumental in getting BtS signed to WB by the exposure they received with their sets at Lollapalooza '95.
The recording of Perfect From Now On was first attempted by a studio duo comprising Doug and drummer Peter Lansdowne. These recordings, however, were largely scrapped/rerecorded (with Peter's drums on Made-Up Dreams being all that remains) by a returned Brett Nelson and then-new drummer Scott Plouf.
There Is No Enemy is the only studio album credited to the full five piece Mark VIII lineup.
"Good Enough" is the official name of the Dug Martsch solo track "Heart (Things Never Shared)" as/when performed by the full band. It was recorded live-in-studio in September 2015 at Joyful Noise headquarters in Indianapolis. The studio cover of Bob Dylan's "Jokerman" and the Daytrotter studio session are also credited to the Mark IX lineup of Martsch-Roth-Netson-Albertini-Gere.
