I am attempting to use sudo in the shell, however when I login through crosh using shell and run sudo, it outputs:
sudo: The "no new privileges" flag is set, which prevents sudo from running as root.
sudo: If sudo is running in a container, you may need to adjust the container configuration to disable the flag.
I found that this is a change since M117 and to use sudo one needs to run ctrl+alt+F2/left arrow, however whenever I do that it asks for login info. I have been putting chronos as the user, and tried a variety of passwords including none, chronos, facepunch, chrome and test0000. I am not sure if there is a password set during compilation that is different than that or if there is a option in the brunch settings? Any help would appreciated.
So I have a Lenovo yoga 2 11 and I decided to install ChromeOS on it (current os before that was ChromeOS Flex) and after the applying patches phase, It gets shows the ChromeOS logo and gets stuck on it.(I'm using a usb)
I have a Surface Pro 5 that I have the latest Brunch R128 on and everything works with the exception of connecting to my iPhone hotspot and a few other random Wireless Networks. This worked when I was trying Fyde on it. It will try and connect but keeps telling me incorrect password. The Hotspot works with any other device I connect to it. I also have issues with a SSID on an Eero AP but the same SSID and password on a Fortinet AP and Cisco works fine. The EERO will work on the same Surface if I boot up a PopOS Stick as well. This is with both kernel 6.1 and 6.6. Also let me say a HUGE thankyou to Sebanc for making this. I was almost ready to pay for Fyde but this works just as good except for this issue and Auto Rotation. The odd thing is with Kernel 6.6 auto rotation works with the keyboard attached but doesn't in tablet mode without the keyboard lol.
I have an Intel i3 4th generation with I think 121 version. it is quite outdated but other versions I tried don't boot. What's the latest version that boots on this processor?
I've installed chrome OS with brunch on my laptop and want to dual boot it with Linux.
I'd like to just create a free partition and install Linux on that partition, but it doesn't seem to be easy to manage partitions on chrome OS.
Is there a good program (preferred with GUI, but command line is also fine) that allows me to edit the Partitions?
Or should I gust wipe my Chrome OS and install Linux first and chrome OS on another partition (not sure if that work when installing Chrome OS, I hadn't any option to choose my partition)?
So i followed the brunch install steps 2 times and i tried installing chromeos flex and i always ran into the same issue.
I cant login- i type my gmail and password but it says that something failed
i cant browse as guest- when i tried to browse as guest, the button jus did not work.
can someone please help 🙏
I was successful in getting a working display and Android apps using chromeos_15572.63.0_octopus_recovery_stable-channel_mp-v32.bin.zip with brunch_r117_stable_20231007.tar.gz on my Lenovo Thinkcentre M73 but if I want to add Linux apps it demands that I upgrade to the latest version of the ChromeOS system. When I do I am unable to complete booting and am stuck at the ChromeOS logo. Is there some way to force it to let me add Linux apps on the version that is working for me?
I know multiple people have had this issue, but none of the solutions have worked so far, and my mic is on but its not picking up any sound pls help I already updated brunch and the kernel and it fixed nothing pls help Device: Lenovo yoga 7, 32GB ram 100GB ssd dualbooting with win11 and grub2win
Is the benchmark performance of the brunchbook the same as that of a Chromebook with the same CPU?
Hey guys, I have Chrome OS usable on my flash drive but is there a way to fully install Chrome OS on my MacBook pro? I don't know why but for some reason it's not giving me an install prompt when I was setting up Chrome OS on my flash drive can somebody please help me?
dear brunchers,
please note this version Brunch r127 stable 20240902 isn't yet compatible with " ChrOS 128 " thus you want to avoid testing the button " Check for updates " you can see while browsing ' ChromeOS Settings --> About ChromeOS ' page.
we suggest using this version Brunch r127 unstable 20240822 instead when you want to test " native updates " and the most recent version of CrOS.
take care,
marc
don't have linux, need 28gb iso
Please I try to install chrome Os for the first time dual boot I followed all the steps And stuck here How long does it take ? My cpu is a weak Intel pentium silver n6000 Ram 4 GB The main problem for me I don't know if there's a problem or just taking many hours
????
hi everyone
please guide me my laptop specs
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Silver N6000 @ 1.10GHz 1.11 GHz
ram 4G
how to choose the cpu code form
I got a weird error while trying to understand the Dualboot instructions, when all of a sudden I get a random error when trying to begin installing brunch.
Could not write partition 1, verify that you are not trying to install ChromeOS on a disk with a running operating system or reboot your computer and try again.
I have a 6th gen intel CPU and have been trying to install Brunch for a while now. I went with shyvanna as that was recommended for this CPU and after following about a dozen or so youtubers as well the Brunch documentation on Github, I always got stuck on the Brunch logo (saying "Loading Brunch framework") immediately after booting into it. I waited for two hours or so.The keyboard also stopped working (I checked using the capslock) and even though I Know that the 6th gen CPUs were removed from the documentation nearly three months ago, which means they are no longer being supported but I was able to boot into the latest version.
I found this one youtube video where the guy used a different grub config than usual when dual booting it with grub2win. I tried it and it Worked!
I was surprised by how quickly it all booted. For reference here's that grub config.
img_part=/dev/sda2
img_path=/brunch/chromeos.img
search --no-floppy --set=root --file $img_path
loopback loop $img_path
linux (loop,gpt7)/kernel boot=local noresume noswap loglevel=7 disablevmx=off \
`cros_secure cros_debug loop.max_part=16 img_part=$img_part img_path=$img_path`
initrd (loop,gpt7)/initramfs.img
I used it under the submenu catagory in grub2win and it worked.
But I saw no Brunch logo, no patches being applied or anything related to drivers.
Just some code running (didn't take more than 2-3 mins).
And since the performance isn't so well I'm thinking......maybe it skipped everything?
I tried different old releases as well so trying out the latest one for my CPU doesn't seem to be an issue?
Can someone help me as to why it's getting stuck with the original config while I'm able to use it with a different config.
Performance is really suffering.......on older versions as well.
Thanks in advance if you can help me!
I have installed the latest bobba recovery and brunch on my lenovo duet 3i Celeron N4020.
very old version of brunch and chromeos had android apps working great.
Then more recently chromeos r113, enabling play store made the chromeos very laggy and unusable.
Now I have installed chromeos/brunch r126 bobba recovery. When I go to play store, it says it's starting, it freezes and then I get "Arc home isn't responding" popup error (can wait or close it)....
If I retry, closing and re-opening the play store several times, I can sometimes get play store showing the apps but the thumbnails have artifacts and it eventually freezes and then "Arc home isn't responding" appears again.
Any idea if it's possible to fix it?
I have tried different kernels (version 6, 5 and 4) and android fixes patches but in vain.
I have an hp from 2014. The specs are: Intel celeron n2840 with integrated graphics, 2gb of ddr3l ram 14 inch 1366x768, 480gb ssd
EDIT: --- Aug. 15th, 2024 --- difficulties can be removed when updating brunch with version ' Brunch r127 unstable 20240814 ' then firing up brunch settings and enabling the latest kernel version.
we also enabled the new option " increase swappiness " but that may be unnecessary for most users
--- Aug. 14th, 2024 --- after updating CrOS to ver. 127, we're currently experiencing difficulties with android apps and ' linux virtual machine [ arcvm ] ' won't start

Very pleased with Brunch installed on my Sandisk Dual USB drive. But it's getting very hot, and the form factor is also way to big.
I'd simply like to install it on a smaller USB drive, to leave it on my laptop all the time.
So I'm looking for one with good read∕write speed without getting too hot.
Any advice here ?
Looking to decrease the kinda heinous boot time by stopping the brunch menu from showing up at all. I'm not talking about just hiding it, but keeping it from happening at all.
Anybody know of a way to do this?
Title.
Would anyone care to share an intel 12th gen iso file
Today I tried dual booting windows and chrome os on my PC with Intel (9th gen) i5 9400F and GTX 1060 but it keeps getting stuck on "patches are being applied"
I have a gigabyte motherboard. Secure boot is off, CSM is off and other things in windows are configured properly. I was using grub2win to install it.
First I tried to install brunch r126 with chrome os 126, didn't work and got stuck. Tried it with brunch r125 and same issue. Then I tried it with brunch r118 and chromeOS 118 and still the issue persisted.
Can anyone help me?
I have a PC that I built myself, it has i5 9400F (9th gen) and GTX 1060 GPU. I tried dual booting chromeOS with windows 10 today but it keeps getting stuck on patches are being applied.
I have a gigabyte motherboard and secure boot is off and CSM is off. Hibernation and other stuff is also configured properly. I am using a pretty new SSD to install it with grub2win.
I tried installing r126 brunch with r126 chrome OS but it got stuck. Tried the same with r125 brunch but didn't work. Then tried r118 and the same issue persisted.
How do I fix this? I've spent all day and nothing worked
I used a 32 GB SD Card to install ChromeOS on it, and would boot it occasionally (5-6 times so far)
Last night, the OS froze while I was downloading some games and I forced shutdown after waiting for some time. Upon restart, it was stuck on Applying patches for hours. Now, I thought of flashing the img again and start fresh but I can't use the SD Card anymore, for anything at all.
Rufus gives an error that says "Please use a media not being used by other process" or something like that
Diskpart - Cyclic Data Redundancy error
Formatting from disk management in windows - Specified Disk could not be found.
Android phone - It reads as unsupported SD and asks to format, but while formatting, the pop-up disappears at 20% and nothing happens. The SD card is nowhere to be found.
I tried to use GParted as well as some other third part applications to make it usable again, but nothing worked.
I have scanned the sectors etc using EaseUS partition manager and everything seems okay.
What can I do to make it work? Thanks for your attention.
Edit: I have come to find that disturbance during the write process invokes some firmware protection in a MicroSD card that makes it Read-Only and is irreversible. I guess that's why I have been getting I/O error in some of the partition manager tools. It seems nothing can be done with it anymore. RIP my MicroSD ✿
I have a MiniBook X (N100/12GB RAM/1TB SSD) and am looking to speed up my boot times. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
Last time I installed Brunch I used gumboz r126 and brunch 126
I couldn't get past patches are being applied.
I have gotten brunch to work before but I dont have the time or bandwidth to try to find a stable combo.
So it would be very helpful to be informed of someone's stable Brunch and Recovery combo for AMD and NVME SSD.
