As we know Julia Quinn added second epilogues to the Bridgerton series ten years after the original stories were written and published.
Francesca’s original story ended with John’s mother’s letter “Thank you Michael for letting my son love her first.” In my opinion it was the most heartfelt ending in the whole series maybe in HR books in general. Such a powerful ending. That was also my first experience with this story: I read a version that did not have second epilogues.
When I listened to the story I realized there were more to their story and listened the second epilogue >!which has the infertility struggles and the miracle baby at the end.!< After listening this addition I felt oddly disappointed. I felt like something had been taken away from their lovestory. Like their love for each other wasn’t enough for their happy ending. I feel it was a disservice for their story tbh, because >!now all people think their story is about Francesca wanting to have a baby and struggling to conceive.!< But it is so so much more than that and that’s why I don’t feel that changing Michael to Michaela is such a big change to the story, to the essentials: love and loosing loved one, grief and guilt of loving someone you shouldn’t, having a second chance to love. All those can still be part of Francesca’s story.
But I do understand that people are disappointed about not getting Michael and the original story from the book. I just think it’s not lost, the main elements are still there.
Obviously Colin hating LW 🥵😅
due to needing so escapism for this week I decided to spend my time off from school watching shows. Thought I would recommend them here for those who needed some escapism or maybe just wanted something to watch. Now I watched and finished two shows and they had elements of Bridgerton. (Not the same but has some elements of Bridgerton) First show is called Rivals(David Tennent, Aiden Turner) on Hulu and Disney plus(not a soap). It’s campy, full of drama and there are more than one romance “pair” to root for (I watched this in one day) amazing 80’s soundtrack. Setting is in the 1980s in England. Next show is called Midnight at the Pera Palace- time travel historical with romance and drama main it’s Turkish show(not soap) but it’s on Netflix so you can hear/have subtitles on in English.
After the carriage scene Colin proposes and takes Penelope up to meet his family and share the news. I can't help but think - sir you didn't even wash your hands after pleasing your girlfriend 😳🤣Unless he had a pack of wet wipes or something in the carriage, ewww!
Disclaimer: Very new to the tv show, never read the book!
Edwina be like "he defended our family that means he likes me right? 🥰" ...sweet summer child
I wouldn't be surprised if Daphne shows up in the future (either in a full recurring role in a future season or in a little cameo in whatever the final season will be) that we learn that she and Simon already have four or five children that we never knew about. We already saw Violet playing with TWO of her grandchildren in Queen Charlotte, so we can at least assume that baby Belinda or boy!B Basset was already born, we just never saw her/him on screen.
It makes sense, considering the time period the story covers, and also how sexually active Simon and Daphne are, lol
My English is not the greatest. Sorry if it sounds a little funky
I honestly don’t care if Eloise ends up with a man or women as long as we don’t keep the love story we have for her and Sir Philip Crane . I think she deserves better that story is grim so here’s how I would re write her story
Penelope can’t just stay a house wife and wishes to write books or something to do with writing . She asks Eloise to help her with books as her publisher. Whilst she is working as publisher Penelope invites someone else on her team to help with her book. There work in close proximity instead of Eloise being forced to dive head first into a relationship shes slowing building a relationship with this guy. Learning how to love and be comfortable.
With this Eloise gets a job and gets to help empower women. There can even be a scene where Eloise is fighting with a book shop owner to put Penelope’s book in the store .
Eloise gets accepted into university somehow some way don’t think about it too hard. Cressida is getting married. However on the same day Cressida is getting married is the same day when Eloise has to leave for University. Eloise leaves the ceremony early because she can’t stand to see Cressida get married with the exuse that she has to catch her train. Cressida can’t stand the thought of Eloise leaving so she runs to catch Eloise on her train. The last scene we see is Eloise and Cressida holding eachothers hand .
You can either make these lesbian or just 2 besties who can’t see each other loose there future together .
He's cuddled up next to me so I can't get up and get a closer photo lol
I think some viewers keep expecting to get more fluff because Bridgerton markets itself as a romance but each season actually provides more angst (at least from the main couple) because it’s a Shondaland production.
Do you think it's possible that, if we get to have all 8 season (or at least six, combining the Eloise & Franny and Hyacinth & Greg books), Bridgerton will have a spin-off with another of Julia's sagas or trilogies?
Kanthony have a scene with Colin in episode 7 where they basically give him a marital pep talk before his wedding, and Kate explains how her and Anthony are “more than happy, but it took [them] time to get here”. I saw this so clearly in the scene later when the wedding breakfast is happening and Anthony tells Kate he wants them to travel to India for the birth of their child. Their disagreements seem to be so respectful and indicative of their deep love for each other now, they are so calm about it and come to a peaceful resolution, even having Kate tell him at the end of their conversation “Please do not make me love you more, I do not think I can bear it”. I think it’s so amazing that you’re able to see as the viewer how far our hotheaded couple has come🥹And it’s not just Anthony doing anything Kate says like a puppy, he still has his persistence, but he really did mean it when he said he’d humble himself before her😭Marriage suits our viscount and viscountess very well!
I dont have to tell you how amazing the chemistry between these two is… You’re a fan of this show, you know what im talking about.
For me, not only did I actually found myself completely unable to move when some moments happened… But when some others like this one in the picture took place, i almost felt like i shouldnt be watching. It felt so private, so beautiful.
I love period pieces and romance period pieces at that. While S1 got me hooked, it was S2 that brought me back to when I was a teen and I read these type of romances and felt things😂but also watching eventually classics like Pride & Prejudice and just melting. The melting btw still happens when I watch that one.
Kate and Anthony’s season is my fav because it brought that back for me. My heart melted watching them. What a passionate, well written, amazing love story.
And even in season 1, Violet has a negative reaction to Colin’s engagement to Marina because she knew it wasn’t love. Of course, Portia and Violet had very different marriages and lived very different lives as a whole, and this shaped their respective outlooks on love. Still, that conversation between Penelope and Portia is so disheartening. So is the one where Portia tells Penelope women have husbands, not dreams.
The ban on NSFW with the new law from Project 2025 will make it illegal to watch Bridgerton because it contains NSFW content and can put people into horny jail for it. What is next for Bridgerton if this happens?
Talk about anything, Bridgerton-related or not. What's been on your mind? Our regular rules still apply, so please be respectful and watch out for those spoilers.
I just find the romanticization of the "reformed rake who frequented brothels meets the love of his life who has never seen the body of a man and their first time together needs to have him coach her throughout" trope to be so tedious and overdone.
Happened with Saphne, it happened with Kanthony (although Kate was aware, she was still a virgin), happened with Polin and it's most likely gonna happen with Benophie.
I really hope at least one, maybe 2 of the Bridgerton male lead characters is a virigin or at least celibate.
There is not many options left but perhaps Phillip and Gregory. Gareth is a notorious rake so I don't think they'll change that storyline.
It works well for Phillip's character if they make him a virgin because in the book he was never really into sleeping with women prior to his marriage to marina even though he was experienced. But during the entirety of his marriage after the twins, he remained celibate for EIGHT YEARS. The show established that he isn't the biological father of the kids so Marina and Phillip would have no reason to consummate the marriage (not to mention it doesn't look like they even like each other).
Making Phillip a virgin also gets rid of a problematic storyline from the book AND gives him more depth to his character, making him different from all the other husbands. He and Eloise can actually organically experience love and all that comes with it together for the first time.
Although I wouldn't be mad if he had at least one encounter before marriage and meeting Eloise. To not really make their first time that awkward I suppose.
Gregory is another one who I could see being celibate or abstinent bc of him holding out hope for a love like his siblings, particularly a love like Anthony and Kate's. Although I find it hard to believe he'll be a virgin on the show bc he goes to Oxford and he's friends with Gareth is who is a manwh*re lol.
Of the women, Francesca and Michaela will probably both be experienced for their season which is fun.
I wouldn't mind if Lucy is also experienced but I doubt they'll do that. There's a big thing about keeping women in that era untouched, untainted and virginal.
Eloise I couldn't ever see (even though I do think she'd be very sex positive once she actually has it) because I highly doubt she'd be sleeping with men just because... But I do think when she meets someone she really loves, she wouldn't want marriage to be the reason why she gets to experience the gift of sex for the first time. She'll find a way to circumvent that expectation. And I do think she's more of an intellectual person who will only develop those urges if the man she's with is intellectually on the same wavelength.
