Going to Oktoberfest tomorrow at 12:30p w friends- wanna join?

Hey y’all,

My friends and I are having a pre-game at 12p and heading over to Harvard square by 12:30p. So you can come meet us at 12:30p.

Btw, if you’re new to this, check out: https://youtu.be/_CCeTIjcXTQ?si=ZiE1tL-1dRrx_c_E this video of Harvard sq Oktoberfest last year.

A little bit about me: I like meeting new people, parties, Indian food, traveling to different states, visiting museums, walking and taking the boat at The Commons, and staying fit.

A few things I like:

  • Karaoke bars are my go-to most weekends. I used to sing professionally for two years until I realized I wasn’t as good as I thought I was, lol. (Also have a small recording studio at my place)

Professionally: Love building professional tech & entrepreneurship communities.

I throw one of Boston’s biggest tech parties for CEOs and investors, every month as a hobby of mine.

Currently, expanding this to all of NE and NYC. Please feel free to dm if you want to chat!

Un Argentano en Boston

Just moved to boston, in BU for a while, and looking for activities/friends.

Outdoors, climbing, cycling, yoga, You name it. Might not be very good at it but I'll give it my best effort.

International student, Italian/Argentinian.

I cook 🇮🇹 and down for dinner partes.

Any help with how to get started would be very much appreciated.

Hi everyone!

I just moved to Cambridge a month ago and I'm always looking to make new friends. I am 25 year old woman just trying to figure out boston area haha. I am highly interested in exploring seminars and events related to science with a mix of fun activities. I also would love to network for job roles as I believe boston is literally the hub and everyone's working in some or the other great companies so that purpose goes hand in hand. I'm open to connecting on Instagram as well after talking here? I guess.

Thanks!

Blue Bike Social - Sat. 7pm Downtown

Hey 👋 everyone! My name is Sam and I had this idea so I’m just going to give it a go! I’ll be hosting what I hope will be a weekly group ride starting at various local Blue Bike stations across the metro and then riding around the area to a nearby bar, pub, etc.

Bicycles have always been my favorite way to explore new cities, get a little exercise, and connect with people. With bike rental stations and programs all over the place it’s more accessible than ever.

All are welcome, no pressure, or “cycling” experience needed. It’s low-cost, and there’s always e-bikes you can rent too.

So, rent a bike and join along, or of course bring your own bike too if that’s an option!🚲 🍻

This weeks details: I’ll be at Boylston St and Arlington St Station, next to the Public Garden, at 7pm on Saturday, Oct. 5th.

We’ll do a casual 30-45 minute ride exploring the area, checking out some spots, and then dock at a different station and get drinks/food nearby. This week it will likely be at, The Sevens Ales House. Then perhaps on to another bar or off to wherever your evening takes you.

No need to RSVP, like, or message me. I’ll be there either way. I’ll be wearing a Blue shirt and just chilling at the bike station.

Although of course reach out if you have any questions or upvote if you like the idea.

About me; I’m (37m) a longtime cyclist who enjoys photography, design, the arts, video games, music, hiking, and exploring cities amoung other things. I recently moved to Boston from the Southwest for a new job and am looking forward expanding my social circle, meeting new people, and hopefully making some new friends along the way!

TL:DR: Come ride blue bikes with me on Saturday night at 7pm and be social. 🤷‍♂️

Any sewing/crafting groups?

Hey all, looking to meet people and get some socialization in while I work on my sewing projects. Camberville or downtown are most accessible to me, but I could go further afield on weekends. I mostly hand-sew, so I can throw down anywhere, any time (outside of work hours).

Two best friends moved out of state, looking for some new besties

So basically last year my two besties both ended up moving to different states. Since then my social life has taken a massive hit. I’ve had little success on BumbleBFF and other similar things.

I’m looking for some new girl besties or a group of girls that are open to “adopting” a new gay bestie. I’m 30, I like to go out to new restaurants for food and drinks. I do Pilates a few times a week and I also love to hike. I love to shop and go to Broadway shows as well. There’s a lot more but would love to make a new bestie that would like to do fun things in the city together

Golf Partner(s)

I am new to golf have 7 rounds under my belt over the past 3 months since getting into it. I like it a lot. I enjoy the analysis part, I enjoy the self awareness aspect, I enjoy the competitiveness and enjoy the shit talking. But most importantly the fun. I’m an ok golfer for a newbie about an 18 handicap? Don’t really care on the skill level as it’s just for fun as long as it’s not painfully slow.

33 year old regular guy, work in sales (Its not a timeshare trap 😆), enjoys the competition and helping each other ultimately get better. likes to learn and push myself. Critical of myself but not to the point of ruining the fun. As frustrating as your play can be I still find golf relaxing. Into music, comedy, nature, self sufficiency, general improvement, travel, food, sports. Normal stuff.

Looking to get together with some similar people to golf with some regularity. I am trying to get out a couple times a week before the weather turns. I try to go once during the week in the afternoon and once on the weekend. I have buddies I go with but often busy with family stuff. I don’t have kids and my wife is chill about our alone time activities.

Hit me up if you think we’d have some fun. Location is in Chelmsford don’t mind driving 45 or so to play.

Looking for social activities as an introvert

Bars, concerts, large crowds, etc are just not my thing. Does anyone know of or have any recommendations for social activities that are "introvert-friendly"?

I'm not currently in a position to spend a lot of money on classes so ideally low-cost things like book clubs, hiking, games, etc.

Thanks!

Looking for climbing friends!

I (30M) am looking for new friends to climb with. I usually climb at central rock in watertown, and I like to top rope mainly. But I'm also down to boulder/get lead certified! I am a musician/artist and pretty easy going, and I mostly climb weekday afternoons and weekends.

October Events - Boston Podcast Brunch Club

The Boston Chapter of Podcast Brunch Club is hosting several events this month. It's like book club, but for podcasts. It's a global community with local chapters all over the world (>30 chapters across 5 continents). Every month 5-7 podcast episodes are curated into a thematic list that is sent out. People listen on their own time and then meet to discuss. It's all free. It's simply a way to make podcast listening less solitary and meet new people.

1.- First, we are discussing the theme of “Lost Utopias” at 12 pm on Sunday October 6.

2.- On Sunday, October 20 at 12pm we are discussing the playlist titled “Unintended Consequences”.

3.- Calling all fans of True Crime. The inaugural meeting of the True Crime Maven Society is on Saturday October 26 at 12pm.

You can join in this page (http://podcastbrunchclub.com/boston/). We are also on Facebook and Meetup.

The 5th Annual Camberville Zombie Pub Crawl

On the 19th of October, the undead of Cambridge, Somerville, and beyond, will rise and swarm the streets in search of brains, booze, or both.....

The Camberville Zombie Pub Crawl is back from the dead for it's fifth year! Throw on your best zombie attire and join the horde for an event that should not be missed.

The schedule is as follows:

-Portico Brewing: 5-6:30pm

-Remnant Satellite: 6:30-8pm

-The New Republik/An Sibin: 8-9:30pm

The Turing Tavern: 9:30-11pm

-Trina's Starlite Lounge/Parlor Sports: 11-12:30am

-The Druid: 12:30-2am

At the end of each time slot, we as a group will crawl, moan, amble, and groan our way to the next spot. Cazadores tequila, Angels Envy whiskey, and Teeling whiskey are our gracious sponsor this year, so keep an eye socket out for specials featuring them along the way, as well as some spooky food specials provided by our participating stops.

Helpful hints for new and seasoned zombies alike:

  • Eat snacks! All participating bars serve food (with the exception of our last stop at The Druid), and eating food is a great way to survive all 5 stops and remember them the next day

-Bring valid ID! Checking ID's for people with a face full of makeup is hard enough already, so make sure your ID is valid and up to date

-Bring cash! We want to be as nice to our bartenders as possible, and not making them open and close 50 zombie tabs for one drink is a great start

-Be respectful! Having a large number of people flood your bar all at once can be stressful, so let's all try to make this as easy as possible for the establishments that have graciously accepted to be included in the crawl

Our first stop at Portico is family friendly, so bring the kiddos down to see some fun costumes; stops after there will be 21+. Spread the word, invite your friends, share this event, and let's kick off Halloween season right! Follow our IG and Facebook accounts @cambervillezombiepubcrawl

Drink more cheap craft beer. Eat more BBQ. Make more friends. Friday, Oct 4 @ 6:30pm

We ended up with a group of 15 people the last time we all hung out at Redbones, and nearly half were repeat offenders from the previous Reddit Redbones meetup. So by popular demand, here we go again!

Just like before, let's meet at Redbones in Davis Square at 6:30pm for some BBQ and $5 craft beers ($10 cocktails). We’ll pull together a few tables in their downstairs space (Underbones). I’ll wear an obnoxious seasonally festive orange hoodie so we'll be easy to spot.

In an absolute spooky season miracle, Redbones just put Southern Tier Pumking on tap, which is objectively the best pumpkin beer that exists (and for $5!!!). I bet it pairs well with BBQ.

As always, all are welcome. Mostly a millennial/xennial crowd. Friendly people, zero pressure, super low stakes, nothing to lose.

Pro Tip #1: To avoid de-anonymizing yourself, there's no expectation that anyone needs to reply to this post. Obviously you know my username (the price I pay for organizing a real-life gathering over Reddit), and you can absolutely look through my entire profile history before you meet me in the real world (you creep). But everyone else can just show up and we'll never know who you are on Reddit.

Pro Tip #2: To be able to coordinate plans and share other events with each other without de-anonymizing over Reddit, we have a WhatsApp group chat. If you want to keep in touch with your new friends post-Redbones, remind me to add you to the Red(dit)bones group chat.

Pro Tip #3: Almost all of the group initially showed up on their own. If you don't feel comfortable meeting a bunch of strangers on your own, keep in mind that we're in a public space, and we have no idea who you are. If you walk through the door and don't like the look of us, you can always just go home and we'll never even know.

Hope to see you there! 🍻🎃

Upcoming Fashion Shows Oct 10-12th Boston, MA by House Fashion Week

If anyone's looking for things to do in Boston! if you're in town or plan to stop by Boston during October 10-12th, there are a bunch of cool international designers coming to this local fashion house. Their VIP tickets say they include a bar for VIP guests with a mixologist and they feature Boston liquor brands as well a couple goodie items from local Boston shops. (If you don't drink just go for general admission imo ) It's honestly a pretty good networking opportunity, I went last year and got to meet international brand owners from NYFW, designers and actually make connections for future model opportunities. (FYI bring a buisness card if you have one, don't make my mistake) They're scaling up this year with their opening event at MFA downtown (Update: It's sold out :( but I'll be attending the 11th as VIP!!) They also recently had a model casting, they work with agencies in NY but also allow for in-person casting so if you're a model or interested in future opportunities go follow them on LinkedIn!(HouseFashionWeek)

(would definitely recommend to anyone who has a taste for fashion, wants to network or work in fashion or design production!! ) @HouseFashionWeek on Instagram and I think this is their website for the schedule www.housefashionweek.com/schedule/

Neurodivergents Unite October 2024

Hello everyone,

This month, there is another session of Neurodivergents Unite (the 3rd event overall).

To give a brief overview, the aim of this group is to provide a safe environment for neurodivergents of all different backgrounds(millenials and Gen Z) to connect and share experiences. This event specifically encourages BIPOC who have or suspect that they have a neurodivergent condition(autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc).

If you fit, or believe that you fit the above criteria and/or know someone who does/suspects themselves, I encourage you to check it out and spread the word.

Sunday Pool 9/29 @ Allston Billiards 6-8 PM

Hey guys! I'm currently resting up in New Hampshire after a lovely day of busting up rocks in search of other, cooler rocks, but tomorrow I'll be at Allston Billiards! It's been great building a habit of playing pool every week, and I am definitely looking at pool spots that could fit our needs. Croke Park in Southie seems interesting, it's apparently disguised as a run down liquor store but hides free pool tables and cheap beer!

Due to the busy weekend and preceding week, I'll be keeping it local to Allston for tomorrow, but be on the lookout for that soon! See you there 👍
