Introducing kitten

Oh my goodness I'm having a nightmare! My amazing border has been around my 2 cats since I brought him home at 8 weeks. He's recently turned 1. He has never had an issue with them, happy to share his space, they rub up against him he doesn't get jealous when they sit on me etc. I'd have said it was a very healthy cat/dog relationship. Unfortunately one of my beloved cats died really suddenly a few months ago. I was really worried about my remaining cat that he would be lonely after being used to being one of two so a few days ago I brought home a kitten. It has been awful ever since. Border seemed quite interested in kitten at first (stairgate separating them) but then kitten hissed at him and now I think he thinks she's prey (im aware of border prey drive). I'm having to keep kitten alot more confined than I wanted and border is really stressed knowing there's a kitten in another room that he can't get to. He's done 2 poos on the floor in the last 2 days which is really unlike him. We've done the sniffing under the door thing but the kitten won't go anywhere near the door. I've put them both in a room and swapped them over so they can smell each others scent. I honestly feel like I'm in a living hell and it's so stressful. Obviously I'm aware kittens are different to cats and he probably doesn't realise she's a cat but how do I get through this? It's not something I can see myself living with long term if it's not going to end up working out. Just to clarify he is allowed no where near the kitten cos I know what he would be capable of, they have only 'met' once through a stairgate, him at the gate and her on the far side of the next room. He seemed quite interested in her till she noticed him and hissed. Does anyone have any advice or success stories?

Stinky Border advice needed please

I adopted my lovely girl Teddy seven years ago when she was 9 weeks old. She had been given her first bath by the breeder but still had a bit of a pong about her. All the wisdom about bathing Borders suggest not too often, some say twice a year some say every three months. I brush her most days and and hand strip her regularly but she smells really bad. A week after her bath she is right back to stinky dog. Her diet is raw beef or kangaroo for breakfast, a slice of cheese or a bit of raw chicken for lunch and dinner is some cooked beef or chicken or lamb, sometimes some fish and a few added steamed vegies. Plus bones every week. I keep her gluten free because she gets the shakes if she gets gluten. Any suggestions or thoughts please?

Pickle playing in some old drainage pipes.

The area around the pipes is home to a big family of rabbits so Pickle would spend the whole day going in and out of the pipes if he was allowed.

Harness recommendation?

I’m planning to get a new harness for my 9 month old BT. The current Pets at Home brand one isn’t a good fit - loose around the neck and not great around the chest.

Might folk be able to share their recommendations?

She is a puller on walks.

Thanks!

Having 2 Border Terriers Of the Same Gender

We recently lost our male border terrier, Leaving our Female border terrier alone and she has been acting very differently (we assume due to grief), we would like to get another to keep her company and for someone to play with, our main concern is when we originally got our male border, we had a different female border who also passed about 5 years ago and he went through a stage (probably aged 1-2) of attacking her, he did grow out of it and never attacked our most recent female border.

Now the story is out of the way, we are looking to get another puppy and my main concern is a boy attacking her as she is very small, even for a border, but when i google it, many sources say 2 bitches may not mix, so I am a bit stuck on what gender to get, our current dog is very gentle and friendly and i do not want a new dog to bully her

This little fellow is Vinnie Bob. His mom is a miniature Poodle, his dad is “a terrier mix from down the road. “ I got Vinnie and his brother from a farmer. Does he look like a Border mix to you?

Small Border Terrier breeders or shelter Borders

Hi all! I’m currently in the EU and am looking for a Border breeder to get another pup to join my existing Border. It’s important to me that the breeder breed for temperament, and I am looking for a Border that is on the smaller side as my current one ended up being rather large. Any recommendations?

I’m also open to adopting an adult Border from a shelter or who needs another home, but my existing mailing lists/resources all have borders who are already adopted by the time that comes around. I’ve also tried the local shelter and fostering networks with limited success. If you have any recs on resources for adult borders in europe that need a home, feel free to share the information!
