Firework Problem

Bolton has a huge firework problem. Even before Halloween, every night I hear fireworks going off. Then tonight, there was a gang of kids running up and down the street, launching fireworks up the road. They set up in Heywood park and go ballistic. It turns Bolton nights into sounding like a war zone, absolutely insufferable. Nobody is going to stop them, so I guess we just plug our ears and try to get on with it? There's no reason for it, none.

Hey.

Any Bolton Pokémon Go players looking to join the 40 people lobbies tomorrow (and on-going), feel free to join us.

It's actually quite difficult to organise this enormous lobbies and I know there any many single players struggling to find meet ups.

Feel free to come along and have a chat, organise meet ups and hopefully complete these massive 40.man raid events

Best fryup in Bolton

I very occasionally get a hankering for a proper fryup breakfast. I’m yet to find a cafe in Bolton that hits the right spot. Any Redditors got recommendations?

Main point is I really like good sausages so cheap sawdust filled pound a dozen meat paste tubes put me right off!

Haulgh Living?

Hi all,

I’m moving to Bolton soon for a new job and found a place near Bradford St in the Haulgh area (BL2). It’s relatively close to my workplace and not too expensive, which is great, but I’m curious about a few things:

Is the Haulgh area generally safe? What’s it like to live there in terms of amenities, transport, and community vibe? Any issues I should be aware of in this neighborhood? Any insights or advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Farnworth - positive experience

Just yesterday I was commenting on a post where someone asked why some kids yell at others in public.

Today I want to share appreciation of the teenagers who assisted and safeguarded an autistic child who was wandering and not willing to home! I saw the kid at the same time as the teens while I was driving and noticed kid walking right in front of cars and on the road.

Two young teens joined me in the effort of finding the kid’s home and helped out for quite some time until the mum came out. All of this while some neighbours were just watching what’s happening but doing nothing. We need more of you!

TLDR: had a positive experience of kids being super helpful and responsible so here is an appreciation post!

Is it normal for kids shouting pedo from their windows on pedestrians?

So I was walking after a quick grocery run, minding my own business when I heard kids shouting pedo from their window, idk if they were referring to me but felt like it because only children were playing around in the street and woman was just entering the street. Didn’t feel good tbh, I thought I should reply with ‘didn’t know your mum was under 18’ but then let it go thinking its just kids.

Warhammer

So I went to slice and dice in the town center, two guys were playing this game (that I had been recommended by a user here), I stood there for like 10-15 mins but couldn’t understand a single thing about it. All I could get from there is that there’s lots of dice and a rule book ig, you gotta bring your own army if I’m not wrong and then you play against an opponent. I think I’m gonna give up on this idea. Checked a few pubs but they were almost empty. Imma explore my university options ig.

Slice and dice

Should’ve taken the hint from the name, it’s board games :/ I didn’t feel motivated to go in there plus there were like 4-5 ppl and seemed to know each other, so a space I felt uncomfortable to go into and try to get in their group. Ugh, its so hardd trying to make friends.

Socialising, any suggestions.

Hi, I’m new to the area and I wanna socialise but I’m not great at it. I’m an introvert but I feel alone, no friends or family here. There’s no life outside university for me. In university, my class only has 4 other people, one of them commutes from Manchester and has a job so he leaves as soon as the class ends and the other 3 females are older ig, and since I lack the skills to socialise, idek how to talk to them or befriend or anything. Outside of the class, I don’t know anybody neither do I have any idea on how to get to know people. I haven’t gone clubbing ever so idk how that works either. So here I am. Stuck in my room, just looking at cars outside the window or just scrolling social media. P.S. I don’t have a job and I’m applying for it actively and that might provide me a social opening but idk when would that happen.

Leisure Activities

I've seen lots of people saying that they would want leisure activities in the town centre as well as shops but what leisure activities would you actually want in the town centre?

Bolton Got So Much Worse

Hi, Just wondering what people think? I grew up in Westhoughton. I am now a dogsitter and go all over the UK. I am now on a job in Bolton and it just seems awful. Growing up in the 90s, it was never fantastic, but a good decent town with good schools and people. The town centre is just dire. The energy is awful and I try to avoid it unless I really have to. Most people look sketchy to put it politely, and it looks like a third world country. My home is in Preston and I frequently visit Chorley. Those places aren't exaxtly Knightsbridge but so much better and calmer. Makes me very sad as I had lots of nice memories of Bolton and my childhood. I'm questioning whether it was always this bad and I'm just remembering it with nostelgia. I certainly won't be coming back anytime soon.

Bolton Hospital Help ! Please! Deprivation of Liberty keeping Dad in hospital

Has anyone else experienced DoL situations with the Royal Bolton Hospital “Deprivation of Liberty” Team? My elderly father (82yr) has been trapped for the last two weeks and we’ve been given all sorts of runarounds trying to find out who his RPR is- his son came from Australia and was not allowed to take him out to lunch! I need to know if anyone else has experienced this and what they did to get this DoL lifted / please I’m at my wits end.

Bolton's best Lidl?

Hello, we went to the Burtonwood Road Lidl in Warrington at the weekend and were shocked at how much better it was than Farnworth Lidl. The choice, the size of the store and the stock availability was great. Is there a better Lidl like this somewhere in Bolton? Thanks
