Quirks in MHA behave like magic, with no rhyme or reason. As somebody who loves science, I am appalled when MHA calls quirks evolution in any way, shape, or form*.* In all honesty quirks aren't even biological, as aside from heteromorphic (mutation) quirks there's no physical way for almost any emitter or transformation quirk to function- and even most mutations defy biology and physics, like wing quirks and invisibility??? Really Horikoshi? Even heteromorphic quirks like Tsuyu's don't work, as the sheer musculature her legs hold would be enough to snap her bones unless they were five times as dense- which would then mean she can't swim.

So, what if quirks were treated as they are- magic, but with logic behind them. What if there were rules, like scientific laws, that could be traced through quirks if one paid close attention to their characteristics. What if... quirks were actually scientific. Not the evolution mumbo jumbo canon has- in fact, the entire idea behind the removed toe joint reeks of quirkist propaganda, and I wish that Midoriya did have a quirk just to let Horikoshi explore that whole rabbit hole. Alas, it's a shonen series, so that dream was DOA.

Ah, and before I begin I want to add something. This idea means there's no such thing as 'mixing quirks'. You get what you get, and how you're raised can change how your concept manifests. Bakugo's explosion could become a firecracker or canon-typical bomb sweat that triggers with hand sparklers, or it could be him just transmuting the salt into explosives with sheer anger. It all depends on how he was raised an how much he trains. You decide on the particulars if you want to run with this idea, but explosive sweat would kill him and burn his house down multiple times Horikoshi, so that won't fly in logic-town.

The fix is simple. There are, in essence, groups of quirks that operate on the same principle- like the natural forces in the world. Take mental quirks. You could have them all interact with the mind through a similar means- like a psychic force that always existed, which is why hypnosis works irl. Then you could have ways to train your brain to resist mental quirks, if somebody else with a mental quirk helped you practice- think Legilemency from Harry Potter. This makes things manageable when quirks like Shinso's exist, and it gives something for Hero academies to teach beyond just 'punch good' and EMT certifications.

Three years to teach squat I say, give them a proper education then make them do university. Hawks is supposed to be special as a young hero, but every graduate from UA has the ability to go pro according to canon. Garbage, I say. Give me mature-idoriya! I want proper body-building procedures followed! I WANT PROPER CHILDCARE FOLLOWED, ALL MIGHT! YOU'RE CRIPPLING HIS FUTURE GAINS, BRO!

The same would apply to elemental emitters, where they all do the same thing but with different means- think of the method rather than the outcome. Nejire, for example, shoots pure energy- essentially just force itself in physics terms- in spirals, causing recoil as the energy displaces the air. Yoarashi controls wind, but not air itself or he could do a lot more, so he instead moves air in lines and arcs, making the air around his wind move with it, making him extremely energy efficient.

This allows any elemental quirk can resist another, but only if the methods are compatible. Something like Yoarashi's whirlwind as a control type can't easily resist a pure emission type like Shoto's hellflame half, as it disturbs the very thing he's trying to control, whereas Shoto can just keep shooting flames without caring about the control aspect. This isn't pokemon, where water beats fire and muscles beat kids- er, normal types. Instead, you have a game of rock, paper, scissors with the best heroes (like Endeavour) learning how to rig the game or play by the rules and use all three methods; being pure emission, pure control, and speed- yes, going fast is a tool. Think strength, dexterity, and agility- all three matter, but one trumps the other depending on the circumstance and environment.

These rules expand a lot of what can be done just by themselves, adding the bones to what was otherwise a gelatinous mess of 'shounen protaganist'-ism. No more 'determination wins', but instead you have realistic battles of wits and tactics. Less 'Stain is an apex predator' and more 'He controls his own blood to improve his movements and defense'. No longer can quirks instantly kill somebody if you touch them, now it's a battle of will and power when the opponent has energy coursing through their veins.

But lets push it a step further- Plus Ultra!

Mutant quirks already concept based, so push that more. Mutant quirks in MHA are fodder- it's just a fact. Not a single mutant was shown to be competent, nor did any get put in the spotlight- even Gang Orca had a sound-type emitter quirk on top of the orca appearance.

So, if Ojiro's quirk is 'tail', give him the tail- or if he's a monkey boy, then make him a monkey boy! Give him the idea of a tail, not just the ligament- that means everything you can imagine a tail being and then some once trained. Dexterous as a whip and stronger than any other mutant quirk due to it's size and weight, make it send him flying with each jump like a spring. Make it able to coil like a snake, snap like a cat's tail, and crush anything in its path like a certain dino. Make him as fast as Tsuyu in water, and let it act like a second send, the hair on the end working as a sort of antenna that lets him feel the ripples in the air.

See what I mean? He has a tail in canon, sure, but his quirk is Tail. Give him something to work with, people!

If you're giving Hagakure invisibility as a quirk, make it special. Make her simply gone- light goes through her and anything she encloses. No sparkly super moves or her controlling the refraction of light- any and all radiation passes through her, even though she can see. Remember, magic, not science. This makes it impossible to find her with any sort of sensor save for sound and pressure sensors. She's going to live until she's 120 because she can't get cancer from the normal sources, and has no physical blemishes to speak of- not that anybody would know, of course. And for goodness sake give her a DNA suit, please. Streaking is a crime on principle.

If you're giving Gang Orca his appearance then forget ultra-sonic mumbo jumbo his quirk comes with. He's an orca, the peak predator of basically the entire world. His speed in the water is unmatched, he's basically immune to bullets, frost, and blades, and anything that can hurt him only slows him down because he is a machine. Make Gang Orca a menace, not because he screams but because he makes villains scream. Orcas even toy with their prey, sending them flying with their tails- which he doesn't have for some reason? Another point for Ojiro, I suppose. Maybe he steals peoples' tails... Food for thought.- which he could exhibit with his terror-tactics and organized hero-ing- like organized crime, but good. Hence the name, Gang Orca.

Mutant quirks should be far more physically intertwined than emitter and transformation types. They should be unstoppable without a full on beat-down, as they don't have a 'mana bar' to run out of, only energy and stamina. They should be the ones to fight like Stain and Toga, capable of feats that are inhuman but also superhuman. Make them something to be respected, not just ugly, weak, insignificant cannon fodder for the main characters to walk over.

...AKA my pitch to give my boy Ojiro some love. He's not some quirkist guys, he was basically shunted from his best chance to show his worth by an arrogant jerk in 1C who acts like another Bakugo. Reason or not, Shinso is a jerk, people! Ojiro is a good man, and I won't stand for this slander!

As a bonus, comment some ideas for how Compound (transformation) quirks work with these rules and ideas! You'll notice I didn't include them, and that's because they're scary okay? Where does the matter come from? Where does it go? Why does Ryukyu have those as a reptile*, they don't even nurse!? I NEED TO KNOW, WHYYYYYYY!?*

all i remember was it was a crack fic where there was a treaty that stopped people from asking out izuku, ochako fucked up a confession and ibara declared it void and it spiraled from there, any help appreciated.

It could be AFO or someone else entirely. The point is, Yagi thinks it's his fault for being too weak and letting Enji die. Whether or not it's true is up to you. I guess he frequently visits his grave to apologize; there he bonds with Hawks, the new Number Two Hero.

He wouldn't go as far as marrying Rei against her will or trying to adopt anyone (Fuyumi is already an adult), but he would definitely visit them as often as he can, as AM or his assisant Toshinori. The man would approach this situation like with teaching: he'd have zero experience but try his hardest to learn. At first they might resent him since he's the reason why Endeavor lost his mind, but they could get used to him eventually.

He probably uses his connections to get Rei of the asylum. Natsuo is glad that the monster is dead and is baffled that All Might/Yagi feels guilty over it. Likewise, Shoto is thrilled because it looks like his father paid for his evil. Fuyumi is sad that she lost yet another family member. Dabi might run into existential crisis, especially since Endeavor died a martyr and was endorsed by Number One Hero.

In the meantime, AM still finds Izuku and gives him OFA just to be safe. During Sports Festival, Shoto approaches the Green kid and asks him:

"Midoriya, are you trying to steal my father figure?"

Izuku.exe has stopped working.

this time izuku does try to train to be a hero and he decides to learn martial arts, one day he comes across a book with martial arts he's never seen before, from somewhat normal techniques like a kicking style called black leg and sword techniques (although with some parts that he thinks are impossible like cutting steel and fire) to some that are basically quirks like fishman karate, rokushiki and haki, out of curiosity he decides to train him and discovers that they are legitimate. by the time of the canon he is already well versed in almost all the techniques in the book and when his classmates discover that he does not have a quirk and that he only uses learnable martial arts he offers to teach them

None of the heroes could agree which villain he 'supposedly' secretly is though.

The worst of them all was All Might who thought Hisashi killed his mentor. Hisashi cringes whenever he's reminded of the fact his son adores that guy.

Man transferred to the states to get some peace for himself, his wife, and kid from their country's heroes.

His new job actually pays less than his old one did.

When he does come back to Japan after All For One has been defeated it starts up again.

"For the last time All Might, I am not All For One. I don't even look anything like the guy."

"As if you're not using a Quirk to make yourself look like someone else, All For One."

"Didn't you kill the actual All For One?"

"Wouldn't be the first time you tricked me into thinking that, All For One."

"Oh my god, somebody save me from this buffoon."

"Flect Turn! I don't know how you got out, but I'm taking you back in."

"Enji, what the fuck? I'm your brother!"

So, I've been reading a lot of fanfiction and rewatching the show. The most common trope I see with Izuku is that he has trauma and that's why he didn't workout/do anything before he met All Might because trauma, bullies, his mother held him back.

Which... just isn't true. We see right after Izuku is told by All Might that he can't be a hero that he goes in and tries to save Bakugo even after being told by his idol he can't be a hero. I feel like if anything that would have kicked him in the dirt harder than anything. Instead he rose up above it. Which is fucking awesome. That doesn't scream to me "I have trauma and don't think I can do anything." That screams to me that sometimes I'm nervous or unsure but I'll still try.

If that isn't good enough and you think that's not a good enough example. At the start of the show it shows Izuku being quiet as the teacher talks about the students goals and dreams at Aldera and we do see him trying to not make himself stand out as Bakugo goes on another rant about him being the best before their teacher goes "Oh yeah Midoriya you're applying to UA too." which shows way before All Might comes into his personal life that even though he's scared that he's still willing to try and become a quirkless hero.

This to me doesn't scream trauma.

What does bother me the most is that Izuku does nothing to try and train for being a hero before All Might. There is clearly the internet. There are clearly gadgets and tool that can help him in a fight. For example if Aizawa didn't have his quirk he's basically quirkless but still kicks major ass.

I don't know what is supposed to be keeping Izuku from being able to do the same.

Izuku is chosen to be a different kind of hero, signing up for a program that will potentially allow him to be a hero through mechanical means.

The experiment is to test a new, experimental mech suit that should be able to simulate the powers of a specific hero (All Might) based on data collected over the years by his close friend from the states, David Shield. Izuku was chosen due to being one of the fews with a high compatibility to the experimental tech, which would result in a less drastic reaction in case the suit rejected him.

After two months of preparation on Izuku's part to be in mental and physical shape for the test, he gets to the mech. It had a very robotic look, not very human looking thanks to the lanky proportions and Bug eyes but the All Mighty color palette excited the young Midoriya, the large vi coming from the head even reminded him of All Might.

The initial test is successful enough, Izuku is able to enter the mech and link up to the suit without a problem, motor functions were a bit hard at first but he was able to move within the suit well enough. However something felt off, the batteries energy seemed to be giving a different reading than the usual tests, Izuku himself felt something different but assumed this was part of the link process.

Soon however is when tragedy strikes, an unknown villain attacked the facility as the test was being conducted, some form of mindless monstrous with the sole purpose of destroying the head of the project, David Shield. During this attack the connector cables currently charging the suit and connecting it to the computers is damaged, with a energy surge overtaking the mech suit and causing Izuku to be shocked.

However this caused a reaction, forming a bond between the Mech Suit and Izuku that was not planned or expected, thanks to the experimental energy battery of the suit. After regaining conscious, Izuku finds himself being able to control the suit much better and is able to fend off the monster by himself, just in time to save the daughter of the project leader, Melissa Shield.

With the assistance of a few heroes that were guarding the project, Izuku is able to fight the monster that seemed to have more than one quirk and put it down with a powerful blast from his shoulder cannons. Izuku tries to leave the suit after the threat has been dealt, but finds it hard at first, assistance from the others was necessary but otherwise everything went well and the project would continue in the next few months after the installations had been fixed.

Izuku is excited to keep on helping, but is informed that he would be going back home until facilities were back in order, however he would be the first to know when the project was back. So he leaves the premises of I-island to go back home and possibly prepare for the U.A. exam he wanted to attempt, if not the hero course he could try the support course. However unknown to the scientist or the young boy himself at that fateful day, the mech suit didn't stay in I-island for further experimentation, it had stalked Izuku on the plane taking him back seemingly out of its own free will, something it shouldn't even have...

It started after the USJ Incident.

"Mom, I'd like you to meet Ochaco and Tsu. They're my girlfriends."

"G-girlfriends? Both of them?" Inko questioned her son shock soon overcoming her joy that her boy has a girlfriend now when what he said really sunk in.

"Yes. We're dating Izu." Ochako answered as she held his left hand whilst Tsuyu held his right.

"Both of us." The frog-Quirked girl clarified for Inko, perhaps unnecessarily.

"H-how did this happen?" Inko asks trying to imagine her sweet, introverted son working up the confidence to confess not only to 1 girl, but 2 of them and to even ask them both to be his girlfriends.

"I told Zuku and Raka I liked them and wanted to date both of them." Tsuyu explained for her boyfriend and girlfriend. "They agreed and we've been dating ever since."

"And how long has that been?" Inko asked thinking Tsuyu might be oversimplfying things a bit.

"Almost two weeks now." Tsuyu answered making Inko more concerned knowing that would have happened a day after the USJ at most.

"I see..." Inko murmured worried for her son and the two girls if getting into a relationship with each other after an experience like that wouldn't be the best for their emotional health.

Still as she got to know these lovely girls, her Izuku brought home, Mama Midoriya hoped only the best for their unorthodox relationship.

It continued after the Sports Festival...

"Mom these are my girlfriend's Momo and Jirou."

"W-weren't you dating Ochaco and Tsuyu a month ago?"

"I still am."

"And do your girlfriend all-"

"We know Midoriya-san. Jirou-chan, Ochaco-chan, and Tsuyu-chan are all happy dating each other and Izuku-kun."

"I see..." Inko said more to herself this time as she tried to see the positives of her son having so many girls that care this much about him in his life.

Then after his Internship with Gran Torino, Izuku brought 2 more girls home...

"Mom, this is Mina and Toru. My newest girlfriends."

"Hi Mamadoriya!"

"Hi! It's nice."

'6 now!?! What is my son becoming?'

When Izuku came back from I-Island, Inko was (sadly) getting used to this new trend in her life.

"This is Mei and Melissa. My-"

"Your girlfriends who the other 6 girls are fine with apparently."

"Y-yeah, Mom are you-"

"Muscles, can we head to your room now with Melissa to make some babies now?"

"EXCUSE ME!?!"

"She means Support Items, Mrs. Midoriya. Mei is... eccentric."

"Oh thank goodness."

"We'll start making genius bio-babies once Muscles and I graduate UA."

THUD!

"Mom!"

"Did you have to say that, Mei?"

Then after the Summer Camp Attack...

"Mom, this is Itsuka, Setsuna, Reiko, Yui, Ibarra, Kinoko, and Poni."

"7 at once!?!"

Then following All Might's climatic battle with All For One...

"Only one girl this time, Izuku?"

"Nejire's still trying to sell her friend Yuyu on me."

"Don't worry, Mamadoriya. You'll get to meet Yuyu-chan soon enough."

Right after Izuku got his Provisional Hero License...

"This is Camie and Saiko. They're my latest girlfriends who I've only known for a few hours now."

"How are you keeping up with all these girls?"

"Mathmatically Accurate One For All makes me faster and think faster than a supercomputer."

"What?"

"What."

Then Izuku came back home with a little horned girl one day.

"Mom, this is Eri."

"Izuku, that's a child."

"Yeah."

"Please don't tell me she's your newest girlfriend."

"WHAT!?! NO!!! Mom, that's messed up! She's not one of my girlfriends."

"I'm sorry, Izuku. It's just with you only bringing girlfriends home to meet me-"

"She's my daughter now."

"...What."

"Also I'm dating Ryukyu, Mt. Lady, and Mirko."

"Izuku, those are all adult women."

"I don't see a problem here."

"Me neither grandma."

"D-dont call me grandma. I'm still in my 30s."

And the story keeps going on like that with Izuku bringing home more and more girlfriends and chipping away at Inko's sanity at how ridiculous it is he has all these girls enamored and okay with dating him simultaneously.

Deku as Stolas What if instead of just losing his powers and title, Stolas was to be human for the duration of his banishment? Reincarnated as Deku

For whatever reason (ALL MIGHT merch isn't cheap), Izuku starts to work on a coffee shop. He works hard and well with the other barista (Ochako really needs more money for her parents). All would be well until someone comes in and basically becomes an obnoxious Karen.

Karen: This isn't the coffee I ordered.

Izuku: Thats because you just made your order Ma'am.

Karen: Well, She says snapping her fingers why dont you make it.

Izuku: Starting to get more and more annoyed Thats because you just ordered it, Ma'am.

Karen: Make it now!!!!

Izuku: Thats it! Youre getting Decaf.

So I made a list using only the heroes I could find on the MHA Wiki page and did my best to organize it as best as I could based on the show at the start right before Izuku takes the UA test to see if he gets in.

How accurate do you all think it is? Who do you all think should be switched with another hero?

Plot: It takes place during the Vs Hero Killer Arc, so Izuku is going aorund helping and training with Full Cowl when he sees the infamous Popstep singing and using her quirk in public and they have a chase scene and Kazuho, overall he ends up being introduced into the world of vigilantes with Kazuho, and she basically acts similar to Marvel's Black Cat in this fic

I’m trying a few tactics to get viewers but, how to gain followers on neopad.

#1, the weekly readings and writing, thingy, it worked to an extent but I can’t actually see my viewers on neopad, since I don’t have neopad pro, although I plan to use Wattpad as a way to view viewers there.

I know at least three people have seen my fanfic as they commented and one even liked the fanfic.

One day, Izuku enters class 1-A and everything is silent… only one boy speaks up, kaminari denku … “were you really such a loser in middle school??”

——- I bet if everyone saw a video of deku getting bullied by Bakugo, then everyone would laugh at him for being such a loser.

Ochako would probably get together with Tenya imo

After that, it would be the beginning of the end for deku, everyone would beat him up day after day physically as well as verbally….

All Might, shocked, would probably reverse the adoption process for Izuku and leave him and his mother on the streets. While giving Izuku a deadline to transfer One for All.

The endgame would be probably be Deku eventually cracking under the pressure and committing a School Smashing.

What if Izuku never met All Might but still got to a quirk passed down to him by someone? Be it Hero, Vigilante or Villain it doesn't matter as young Izuku now has a chance to become a hero!

Possible quirks I thought for this idea, want some feedback to know what could work in a fanfic:

Option A- Marksmanship quirk that makes Izuku capable of summoning a energy bow that he has incredible proficient in using, it can enhance his eyesight by focusing that same energy in his eyes

Option B- A Quirk that passes down the knowledge of the previous user to Izuku, allowing him to use that knowledge himself while enhancing his physical qualities by adding the previous user's own ontop of Midoriya's (not in the insane level as One for All).

Option C- Parasitic Quirk that gives Izuku two tendril like appendages coming from stomach, they are incredibly durable and strong with a instinct to protect Izuku whenever his life is threatened, he needs to eat a lot more food to keep the parasite quirk active. Can gain physical attributes from whoever is unfortunate enough to be eaten by the tendril parasites

Option D- Now having the spirit of the quirk user within him, Izuku is capable of using their power of spiritual energy manipulation to change the ghost in order for him to be better fitted for a fight (basically a conscious Stand that Izuku can alter the density and appearance of)

Let me know what you think, A is personally my favorite but C is also interesting for a scenario

I’m not saying you’re writing a fic for the popularity or recognition. I’m saying you’re writing because you had an idea and wanted to make it a reality, but at some point or somehow, it gained traction.

When would you think “I made it”? When you hit a hit/kudo/bookmark number? When you have a TV Tropes page? When there’s a work that was inspired by yours?

Personally, I would think that if there was an “MHA reacts” fic for mine even though they’re out of style.

Izuku grew up thinking his father was just a normal guy with a fire breathing quirk. His mother an ordinary woman with a weak telekinetic quirk. This was a lie.

Inko and Hisashi Midoriya never existed. Or rather they didn’t in the way Izuku thought. Still he lived his life thinking Inko was his mother and Hisashi his father. Until Star and Stripe encountered a particularly nasty villain that required all four of her rules to beat. Yes four, as she revoked her fourth rule Inko Midoriya ceased to exist.

The next day Izuku awoke to the number one hero in America on the couch with an embarrassed expression on her face.

Native could still be alive, barely, but Iida didnt seem to be able to shut up, so Stain snuffed him, and Izuku got to the alleyway to see Stain finishing the deed.

If there are any such fics (0referably long, multichapter fics, where the emotional fallout is explored well) in existence, please point me to them...

Otherwise, I would write it, or if anyone finds it interesting enough, can consider this a prompt.

Which idea for a MHA rewrite sounds more interesting?

Quirkless Izuku making it into UA by just hardwork, training, and making gadgets where eventually in the school festival he impresses All Might to receive One for All.

Deku did some muscle training before even meeting All Might. Practicing and trying to fight like All Might and Mirko. When he receives OfA it unlocks a quirk based on his mother and father's quick combined. Now Deku must learn how to use a fire breathing quirk that allows him to gather fire into his mouth. (Basically one for all while empowering it's user also either increases the strength of their quirk or unlocks a quirk based on the combination of the OfA user's parents)

Originally I was gonna do the first one with changes to the classes and using more interesting side characters and such but the second idea has some merit to it I feel. I'm leaning to the first one.

My class 1-A and 1-B are gonna be...

Male: Kirishima, Tokoyami, Kaminari, Shihai, Juzo, Izuku, Bakugo, and Shoto. Mineta only was there for the first day as he is the one who gets expelled.

Male: Tenya, Monoma, Shoji, Ojiro, Aoyama, Tetsutetsu, Inasa Yoarashi, Manga, Koda, Sero
Female: Mina, Kendo, Ibara, Toru, Reiko, Yui, Kinoko, Pony

I’ve found a lot of MHA watching the show fics. Future Briefing island is one I really like. But they all have the characters brought in after season 3.

Does anyone know of any where the characters are brought in from BEFORE the series takes place?

Or during season 1 atleast?

I don't remember the name of this fic, but i remember that It shows Izuku Meeting an giant woman with large horns, who somehow manages to keep any villain from coming close to the area of this orphanage Just with her presence. It's a smut fic i read a long time Ago.

Ok so this is for a fic idea I have where izuku has a self reflection a few years before getting ofa causing him to start training.

Through some trial and error he finds a himself eventually witness the use of guns by villains and by the best hero himself snipe.

This is one of the first times izuku has seen a gun being used to protect by a hero causing him to get the idea to incorporate some support items to his fighting style.

In this fic as he gets older he eventually meets Gran Torino who gives all might a heads up on making him his successor from just how hard working he is despite the odds of being quirkless like he used to be.

(There's also supposed to be some minor but obvious all might x Inko so be warned)

Edit - in this fic izuku gets ofa a little early and through analysis of other hero's (and bakugou) he gets the idea to make concentrated shapped blasts with ofa mimicking a gun shooting bullets, but still I can't figure out how to make this ability op without him taking someone's arm off 😓
