Coming with a couple friends mid-October for my birthday. I’m a devoted rambler, so—weather permitting—I’d like to spend the Saturday I’m there essentially walking the entire island’s perimeter. Is there an obvious way to do so without bushwhacking or trespassing?

I have visited Block Island like 5-7 times over the last few years and last year stayed for a week with my wife and we loved it. I’m now going on a bachelor party in Narragansett that some guys are arriving on Thursday but I won’t be getting there until Friday night. I suggested a good day trip for them to do during the day Friday would be Block Island because the ferry is right there and none of them have ever been.

The few times I’ve been to Ballard’s have been Saturdays during July/August and it seemed like more of a bachelor party spot than the rest of the island. Now I’m sure the guys would still enjoy themselves and find cool stuff to do if Ballard’s isn’t crazy on a Friday in September but I’m just wondering what the atmosphere is like there on a weekday in mid September vs what I have previously experienced.

Any help that I can pass along to the group for what to expect or if there are any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have the spring house hotel wedding cost breakdown? It used to be on the wedding wire but I can’t find it anymore.

I have a small house on the island that’s a converted cowshed, so it’s on pilings and is old. The home overall is solid, but there’s a little bit of sag in the floor that has recently become noticeable. Looking for recommendations for a contractor that can help reinforce a five-foot section of the floor joists. Let me know who might be able to help — most of the bigger contractors on the island are busy building new homes and this seems like too small of a project for most of them.

Just arrived for a week’s visit - can someone suggest a place where we might be able to rent a dvd player, or pick up a secondhand one? We have many vacation DVDs to get through! Thanks!

How hard is it to move from the mainland to the island and is it worth it with a family?

I was curious if you guys had any ideas about what a teenage boy could do on Block Island. It used to be more fun when I was a little kid but as a teen there’s not much. It’s more like only kiddie stuff, shops and restaurants, and bars. It doesn’t help that they banned arcades to which could be a nice activity. Any ideas may help thx!

I’m spending an entire day at Block island with my friend in search of orbs. We are curious what trails and beaches are the least busy/least hunted.

Update: we did not find any orbs but we did have a heck of a time on the island.

Hey BI. Curious if there are any private landowners that allow boondocking on their property with a small travel trailer? Will to compensate, pay for a spot, maybe even an electrical hook up.

hi i need the help of some long time locals or historical photographers with a project i want to do. so basically back in the 80s my grandfather owned the restaurant Skipper Rufes (pictures i have included) and my dad grew up on the island and in the restaurant for a few years and i want to remake the hanging sign for his birthday but i dont have any high quality pictures of it and what colors it was any help or input would be greatly appreciated!! the restaurant is now the beachead btw!

Where I'm from back on the mainland, people bike in the bike lane on the street. Is it normal on the island for people to completely disregard people on the sidewalk and bike there? It's like they don't care.

I’ve been coming here for years and I have my own opinion of the best clam chowder but I’ve always been told other places like Rebecca’s and the oar have clam chowder so I was wondering what everyone thinks. Btw national is my favorite by a long shot and I’ve been trying for years to find a better clam chowder.
