Been coming to BI in the summer for like 30 years now(from Virginia) and have always wanted to visit in the off season. The Inn we are staying at in a few weeks provides a "New England Breakfast". Any ideas of what that may entail?
Looking forward to meeting some year-round islanders while we are there and hopefully joining the community in the future.
Is Littlefield Bee Farm still operating? Visiting the island again next year for the first time since I was a kid and have been looking forward to BI Honey…looks like their socials haven’t been updated in a few years though…
Any place rent out nice homes for cheap over the winter? I work from home and I am looking for a quiet and peaceful few months.
It has been moored in New Harbor for a long time, but sometimes moves location. Is there a story behind it?
I’m a Boy Scout visiting for the weekend, and was wondering what kind of fishing I should do. We came 2 years ago, and had a lot of success with squid, but after trying pretty much all day today we were skunked. Is there something I’m missing, or is squid not the play right now?
Hey BI! I’m working here for a month looking to go surfing. Does anyone have a surfboard I can borrow from time to time or for the whole month? I’m happy to pay, and happy to surf with you! Cheers! 🏄♂️
The waves are awesome, but wondering if there are beaches known for less wind/waves
A bunch of EMS vehicles just evacuated downtown and there were claims of a bomb threat. Does anyone have any insight?
Coming with a couple friends mid-October for my birthday. I’m a devoted rambler, so—weather permitting—I’d like to spend the Saturday I’m there essentially walking the entire island’s perimeter. Is there an obvious way to do so without bushwhacking or trespassing?
Arriving to the island shortly! Please send dream day trip recs. Don’t want to get a taxi. All on foot or shuttles please!
Does anyone have the spring house hotel wedding cost breakdown? It used to be on the wedding wire but I can’t find it anymore.
Who rents the electric carts? They look like little golf carts.
Hi all! If I wanted to get to block island from Orient Point in Long Island after Labor Day (mid to late September) would I be able to go directly there? Thanks!
Hi All:
I have a small house on the island that’s a converted cowshed, so it’s on pilings and is old. The home overall is solid, but there’s a little bit of sag in the floor that has recently become noticeable. Looking for recommendations for a contractor that can help reinforce a five-foot section of the floor joists. Let me know who might be able to help — most of the bigger contractors on the island are busy building new homes and this seems like too small of a project for most of them.
Just arrived for a week’s visit - can someone suggest a place where we might be able to rent a dvd player, or pick up a secondhand one? We have many vacation DVDs to get through! Thanks!
I'll see you in my dreams
EDIT: I dont have a ton of details but my understanding is the rent increase dispute with the landlord finally ended with no deal and yesterday ended up being the last day of Club Soda
I saw for Aldo's that the minimum age was 18, but is it different for any other places?
How hard is it to move from the mainland to the island and is it worth it with a family?
I was curious if you guys had any ideas about what a teenage boy could do on Block Island. It used to be more fun when I was a little kid but as a teen there’s not much. It’s more like only kiddie stuff, shops and restaurants, and bars. It doesn’t help that they banned arcades to which could be a nice activity. Any ideas may help thx!
I’m spending an entire day at Block island with my friend in search of orbs. We are curious what trails and beaches are the least busy/least hunted.
Update: we did not find any orbs but we did have a heck of a time on the island.
Hey BI. Curious if there are any private landowners that allow boondocking on their property with a small travel trailer? Will to compensate, pay for a spot, maybe even an electrical hook up.
Wondering if anyone knows if the early learning center is still operating… Because on Google it says temporarily closed and the link to their Facebook page doesn’t seem to work?
Had a great week of searching for sea glass in Block Island 🩷

Where I'm from back on the mainland, people bike in the bike lane on the street. Is it normal on the island for people to completely disregard people on the sidewalk and bike there? It's like they don't care.
Edit; if you’re going to be rude, kindly keep scrolling. This is a legit concern, and something I’m allowed to talk about. I don’t need sarcastic rude comments. You’d be okay with a speeding bike coming towards you on the sidewalk?? Great. I’m not. So kindly keep your negativity away from this post.
