A forum for The Blair Witch franchise and related media.
In February of 1785, the township of Blair, Maryland accused Elly Kedward of witchcraft. She was tried, found guilty, and banished deep into the Black Woods Forest. Although her death was never confirmed, it is assumed she died from exposure.
However, by midwinter, all of Elly Kedward's accusers, along with half of the town's children vanished. Fearing a curse, the townspeople fled Blair and vowed never to utter the name Elly Kedward again.
Since then the accidents, disappearances, and murders that plague The Black Hills have been blamed on The Blair Witch.

I've always loved the film, but watching Curse of the Blair Witch and reading the Dossier has added a whole new layer to it, to the point I consider both an essential part of viewing the movie.
I love the mythology so much.
I’m
Most of us will be familiar with the supplementary "documentaries" that were shown on television and VHS adding to the lore of the original movie and sequel, in addition to perpetrating the idea that it was all real.
Gathered here is the full list, in order of release and (hopefully) best viewing quality available online:
The latter two are Vimeo links from the director, Ben Rock, himself. And Curse... was also included as a bonus feature on the home media release of the original film.
Has anyone tried playing it in an American player?
I don't wanna have a collectible I can't use as much as I love it; and unlocking my BR to be region free is just too complex a process.
Got one before they triple in price.
This set is a beauty!
Second Sight and everyone involved did a really good job on this.
I'm not wanting the full limited edition of the new release, but everywhere I look in the UK every listing for the standard blu ray release of it says sold out and stock not expected until Feb 2025 on some listings?! Did it actually release in standard blu ray yet or was it just that they didn't print enough?
I thought I heard that in the second sight version, we’d be able to see the figure that heather caught on her camera during the tent attack scene. I just watched the clip and couldn’t see anything - did anyone notice it?
Is there a way to digitally download or stream the new cut of TBW or has someone ripped it and posted it somewhere? For people who don't plan on buying a physical copy from another country....
I actually gasped at the part where Heather is saying "Elly, are you there?" and saying she hopes something scary would happen. Did anyone else do the same hahaha. I think these extras give us so much more context and also kind of makes me see Heather in a slightly different light (same with Mike and Josh in other scenes)
I remember the part in the dossier that includes Heather's journal and I think it tells us that she was actually sending out energy to Elly Kedward for a long time prior to them setting off.
So in other words, Heather well and truly got what she came for!
Watching this movie now and I got to wondering when the three hit the point of no return? I mean to say, when was it that it became clear there was no hope of them getting back to the car?
I feel it happened after Coffin Rock and probably right after they visited the cemetery in the woods. Any thoughts?
They Say don't look at "her" but the thing looks nothing like the description given in the beginning of the Blair witch project. is the witch a shape shifter or something?
Never seen before footage
The opening text indirectly lets the viewer know that the Woods pick and chose who live and die, since obviously the footage had to have been found in the woods by someone who brought it back to civilisation. It's basically suggesting that the Woods and the Blair Witch itself might have actually spared the three if they weren't there to document it. Or maybe the Blair Witch wanted to spice up their documentary and turn it into a warning, who knows?
Just saying that the notion of this all being an exercise in not being obsessed with filming everything is both clever for the Found Footage genre and fairly decent commentary too.
The famous apology scene would lack power if it were all because of manipulations by two other people and not Heather's own fault. If she wasn't really responsible, she'd have nothing to be sorry for. But she does have something to be sorry for, getting herself and innocent people in an inevitable path towards death.
Heather's straight laced, authoritative demeanour breaking due to this kind of unexplainable, supernatural circumstance that cannot be managed or fought against is more terrifying than it being all because of a trick by two other people. It would take away from Heather's characterisation for her to be tricked by the efforts of two people as opposed to something that no human being could handle, no matter how professional and straight laced they are.
Josh and Mike are not that good of actors.
Josh and Mike breaking under the pressure of the situation not only shows the consequences of Heather's choice, but also how a situation like this could affect more than just one person. We get a variety of reactions and even get to see Josh as the sacrificial lamb of the group, which amps up the threat of the Blair Witch and shows it as not just a sadist but a true killer too.

I’m keen on buying the new Blu-ray that came out this month of BW with the remastered version “as intended” by the filmmakers in the OG mm film etc.
But I also heard there’s a directors cut coming with 45 more mins. Does this new release include a version with that? Is it coming later? Or do you have to watch the extra 45 mins as separate deleted scenes? It’s a bit confusing at the moment as the new release includes multiple versions (such as Cannes etc)
I don’t know if it has been properly mentioned or gushed about here, but the Deleted Scenes are like an alternate cut of the movie up until the end when a few that have already been officially released are tacked on.
For huge fans, I am telling you the Deleted Scenes are worth all the cost of going region free. It’s insane how much stuff there is that we haven’t seen and it’s put together very well.
This is the version of special edition I have been wanting for the past 25 years. It’s about time!
I am very curious about what caused the events. Was the magic and the Blair witch real, or were the characters slowly losing their sanity which made them hear voices, see things and murder each other?
I know every frame of the original film by heart. A lot of the added moments were really good and should have been in the original film. Heathers confession is a bit longer and there’s a quick, heartbreaking moment right after. Nothing really new in the house. A few of the sound cues were different. In the original version Josh clearly yells “Heather!” before Mike runs upstairs. This time I think he said “Heather and Mike!” but I’m not sure. The biggest change is when Heather drops the camera there isn’t that satisfying clunk and her scream went on a bit longer. The original last few seconds are better.
Here and there there are a line or two added. I expected more with Mary Brown but nothing there except Heather messing with and breaking her gate a little. The stick figure scene had a moment or two added. Nothing different about the running from the tent scene. A few of the arguments are a bit nastier, particularly Heather screaming at both of them after the map in the river admission.
