A forum for The Blair Witch franchise and related media.
In February of 1785, the township of Blair, Maryland accused Elly Kedward of witchcraft. She was tried, found guilty, and banished deep into the Black Woods Forest. Although her death was never confirmed, it is assumed she died from exposure.
However, by midwinter, all of Elly Kedward's accusers, along with half of the town's children vanished. Fearing a curse, the townspeople fled Blair and vowed never to utter the name Elly Kedward again.
Since then the accidents, disappearances, and murders that plague The Black Hills have been blamed on The Blair Witch.

My gf and I are both total cinephiles. Normally we'd chose to watch a movie on the big screen over watching it at home any day. And we have the rare opportunity to watch the 1999 movie in theaters soon. But this movie is kinda special. What do you folks think: due to the found footage nature of this film, would it be better and more immersive to watch this one at home rather than in theaters? Should we let this rare opportunity fly by? Or would this also hit just as well or even better on the big screen?
Edit: The book has been found!! It's "Beyond Blair Witch" by N.E. Genge. Shout-out to u/mwmani for the quick answer!
Hey everybody, first time visiting the sub and I'm posting because y'all might be the only ones who can help me figure this out.
About 10 years ago I picked up a secondhand book on The Blair Witch from 2nd & Charles. As a fan of the movie, this book was great, because it detailed some of the more obscure real-life mythology and historic cases that were incorporated into the lore. I loved the book so much, that I eagerly lent it to a friend who also loves the movies. Long story short, somewhere along the line, the book ended up lost. I've tried a few times to Google the book, but being short an author and exact title, no matter what combination of keywords I try, I can never find this book. I always end up getting the fiction books. So I'm turning to the experts for help.
Now to describe the book in as much detail as I can remember: It was a paperback book, but larger than your standard paperback. At least 8.5 x 11, maybe a little larger like a coffee table book. Highly stylized in that edgy early 2000's horror way, with pictures and creepy designs all over every page. Stickmen galore. As I said earlier, the content of the book was mostly dedicated to real world influences that helped shaped the creation of the Blair Witch lore. I specifically remember liking the book because it covered cases and history I hadn't heard of before, rather than only covering well-trodden topics like Salem or Hecate.
I know it's not much to go on so I'm not hoping for much but I figured if anybody would know, they'd be here! Hopefully one of you out there can help me add this back to my bookshelf.
This thing weighs a ton. Easily the most definitive release of the film and likely never to be topped.
I vaguely recall watching and commenting on a series of websites and YouTube channels about a fan-made local adaptation of the Blair Witch, called "Seven In Ten".
There was a very old website and fan forum in those days (2005-2010??) and was quite active. Eventually, someone near Maryland started talking about making an ARG/Podcast called Seven In Ten, which had a fake intro with some Podcasters releasing an audio log of their trip into the local woods in search of the house from the film.
The only other memory I have of this project was a person filming in a different house that was very close to the original house scene. In it, the person recording went into the house, and seemingly captured children from the 1800s-1900s wandering around the halls and stairways.
Does anyone else remember this ARG/project? It was cancelled I recall, but no records of it existing seem to still show on archives or Google.
P.S. - The fan forum I think had a gross light brown visual theme to it, and looked like your typical 'Unfiction' forum layout from those days.
I feel like I'm going crazy knowing this stuff and not having anyone else who knows what I am talking about. I'm from Maryland so I am a big fan of this stuff as I lived through the culture.
Thanks for reading!
I've heard it's bad, but is it so bad that I shouldn't even bother watching it? Or does it not matter if I do or not.

Hey everybody,
I'm Matt and I'm working with a team to develop a brand new Blair Witch horror Exhibition experience. We are a student research team looking for some insight into how we could best develop the experience and we would love your input!
If you have some time, we have made a survey for you to fill out. It would be a massive help!

Thanks in advance,

Most people today don't remember the PC exclusive Blair Witch trilogy of games, which released right around the same time as Book of Shadows in the year 2000. The games were actually a companion piece to the 1999 horror title Nocturne. I've just made a video reviewing the games and delving into their history. Did you play any of these four titles? Do you have any fond memories of them? I'd love to hear your thoughts, and would appreciate it if you checked out my video linked below!
I made it from a vintage stone necklace, a keychain I had and some sticks
My most prized possessions! 2 bricks from the Rustin Parr house, a rock from Coffin rock and dirt from a few other filming locations!!
Hello, I'm in dire need of some Blair Witch wallpapers, especially from the Book of Shadows sequel. Maybe anyone here got some cool wallpapers from the early 00s and would like to share them? I'll be glad to see such a blast from the past.
We're on all the major podcasting platforms, but here's a link to the interview on Youtube.
Unlike other interviews, we don't go into our guests' body of work too much. Instead we talk to them about their experiences, from childhood through teens and into their adult life. We focus on what they've been through, and what horror media they've been a fan of. Then at the end we talk about any common themes that we saw cropping up throughout the conversation, and how those themes intersect with horror as a genre. (And I can tell you, a number of the things Eduardo shared absolutely related to elements that ended up in TBWP!)
Hope you enjoy hearing what he had to share as much as we enjoyed interviewing him, or chatting here with other fans of his work :)
Also, I saw some comments elsewhere in this sub from people looking to join a Discord server to chat about Blair Witch. You're welcome to join our Discord server :)
Hello everyone,
I am making a youtube documentary about The Blair Witch Project. I want to include a section where I talk about different fan theories. I know the one that says Mike and Josh killed Heather. But that's the only one I can think of. Is there anymore?
I know there was a sticks and stones vhs that was ish like the curse of the blair witch but way back I remember hearing about a doc that showed video of the making of. One clip showed Mike Heather and Josh off in the distance.... like it was the production crew taping them .... might have been called in the woods ...... any one know what I'm talking about
I believe Heather's Diary entries as printed in here will also be included in the second sight release.
this new story on blair witch has some interesting bits....
Something that always got under my skin was >!the video-recorded interview with Rustin Parr in the Blair Witch supplementary material!<. It felt so different from the material we saw in the movie, and the performances are so eerie, for me it really makes things feel a lot more real, in a way I find kinda terrifying.
It almost creeps me out more than the movie, in its own way, and I always wind up wondering what the production was like on it, since we're so intimate with the "making" of the Blair Witch Project movie.
