Megan Boone ruined Blacklist for me (Season2)

I hate the character and I am not a big fan of the actress either. She has some shady history regarding nazis, and she has a thing for nazi symbolism. She is ultra rich and is not afraid of the law, a Close family friend to the Boones, who also knew Gary. (Her grandfather) confirmed it.

You will seeTom wearing an ss sign on his neck long after he was done with Germany, Boone wanted him to have that tattoo.

All this sounds ridiculous but the truth is crazier than fiction

Pick One: Redington or J.L Picard

Who's a better written character? Which would you rather trust your life with, Picard or Redington? Go!

Blacklist

I started watching Blacklist 3 weeks ago. I am on season 4 towards the end. There are so many questions and even when some questions are answered there are more questions. Is Reddington Liz's father? No then who really is? Alex Kirkland was not, Sam was not. And that night with the fire did she really shoot her father, and who was he??? And Tom Keen and Scottie Hargrave, so many dysfunctional family dynamics! Great show, love the writers and story lines!

Who's the writer for Liz character? The worst!!

She is the dumbest agent ever. Why did anyone want her back. Gets knocked up, horrible instincts, continually 2nd guesses Redd even though he's ALWAYS right.

Newbie!

I started watching The Blacklist for the very first time about two months ago. I quickly became addicted, and was eager to watch The Blacklist - Redemption. I had always heard good things about The Blacklist, and kept putting it off. I wish I hadn't! Let me say this before I discuss Redemption:  Watching all five seasons of The Blacklist was a labor of love. The first season was awesome, then mid-season two it started to go off the rails, by three I was forcing myself to watch, but it gradually got better. I did not learn of Redemption until later on, and I saw where others asked when to watch it in the order of the show, but I just watched them all last week.

I have to say that I absolutely LOVED Redemption. I am sorry for the all caps, but I felt it was deserving. I wish it had not been cut off the way it was, and wish Hulu or Netflix would pick it up! I accidently read a spoiler and found out what is thought to be the ending, but had I not read that, I would have no idea what was going on, or almost not realize who the "bad guy" was on the show. I loved that is was suddenly this ragtag group of bad guys who were actually good and fighting to save the day. It made me giggle more than once. I posted my love for the show on the regular The Blacklist sub, and said that people may not like the show and downvote me because of my love for it. They let me know that people were very divided on the show, and that there are lots of people who love it, and lots who do not. I was hoping to come here and find my peeps who loved the show. So, what are yall's thoughts? Did you love it? What did you like most of all? Did you find it odd to have someone like Solomon who was a baddie, suddenly becoming a goodie?

Theory about the ending that I haven't seen anywhere else

The truth that would fill a lot of the questions most simply is this: Howard's plane was indeed sabotaged and Howard was killed, so he could be replaced with a Russian sleeper agent afterwards.

This fills in a lot of the gaps. It explains how Howard knew about Independence, and the super secret spy swapping program that Halcyon and the US government didn't know about. It explains why Howard would have to "fake his death" if he was evil and Scottie didn't try to kill him, it was Russia killing him to replace him. It also explains how Daniel the spy prostitute was being funded, why Howard seemed to know Whitehall when meeting him, and puts lots of other things into context.

Sure, it still leaves some information missing, such as why scottie wasn't more forward about a lot of things, but I think this theory fills in a lot more gaps than any other posed so far.

Thoughts?

Anyone notice how similar the series to Lost

The moment Howard Hargrave, they way the scenario goes after his appearance were more like Lost (series) and the odd thing is, he's the same actor Terry O'Quinn with almost the same role.

[SPOILERS] My Theory on finale

I'm wondering why this is not obvious for everyone else , but here is more likely what the true story is ;

-Howard is a Russian spy but scottie is actual mother of tom.

Why do I say that ?

-All the awkward part between him and his father before & after he took over the company
-All the camera focuses on howard's face after the took over the company ,
-Too many symbolic speeches coming from the mouth of howard , while he framed his wife , and also built quantum prototypes in back of scottie , and someone has to be the bad guy ---Also WHITEHALL has to have something to do with the main plot , someone has to be a russian agent in the family while scottie is too much of a real mom

So heres mostly what has happened , Howard sabotaged the plane and killed the Real Howard , wich became insane and parano after the loss of his Son tom whom was captured by RUSSIANS in a well elaborated plan to take over Howard and the quantum prototype

[Spoiler] DON'T READ if you haven't seen the Finale! - Ponder about Tom

If Howard has been playing Tom and everyone else all along....

Did he lie about who Tom is? Is Tom really his son, or is he just using the supposed relationship to string Tom along?

I can't Think Of A Logical Way ___ Is The Bad Guy

I cannot think of a logical way to make Howard the bad guy without making the plot very hazy.

I don't claim to be the smartest person in the world or remember all the details but when the show finished I never thought Howard was the bad guy. I didn't even realize it was supposed to be taken that way until my wife said "so he was bad all along?"

The way I see it, Red told Tom that his mother was bad. This could be because he used Lizzy against him and she is evil because of it (doubtful Red knows how business works) or because he knew she wasn't who she claimed to be.

We heard early on in the show the story of how Howard believed his wife was switched on him. We also know the prostitute was hired to gather information and build the prototype. The way I see it either Susan Hargrave is just plain evil in her base, there were two of her with one running the real company and one running a shadow company, or she was replaced and then the replacement went rouge. I will say that the real Susan Hargrave is SH, the Replacement Hargraves is RSH, and the rouge replacement is RRSH from here on out just so I do not confuse myself when typing.

So the last two come into play (RSH and RRSH) by the scientists claiming she hired them and her never seeing them. It likely could be a lie or the truth. If it is a lie that she didn't hire them than likely Howard hired them (I will question that soon). Or there is one of three more things that occurred: 1. SH is evil and lied in the moment. 2. RSH gathered the information and did everything behind the scenes using her face and identity to help shore up all the other things the board member mentioned (multiple shadow companies and facilities). 3. RRSH never knew about any of it and the prostitute was working with the original RSH employer, knew her tendencies, and used it against her. Similar to how people used the emotional instability against Tom and Lizzy early in Blacklist.

The reason I am having a really hard time with claiming Howard did everything is because it doesn't really line up. Why would Scottie frame him to be delusional for working with Whitehall? It really only makes sense that she was trying to take control of the company. Why would Howard fake being psycho and then fake his own death to get control over something he could simply have control over to begin with? That doesn't add up at all. Why would she turn to a prostitute the day he is announced dead? She wouldn't have to abandon the search for Tom because thats who the original SH was and thats what the agents were trained to do.

We were lead to question Howard because they attended the same conference and they made that agreement yadda yadda yadda. Why would Whitehall use that protection argument against her but align with Howard? Maybe he wants world domination? But that doesn't really line up because it wouldn't be his to control with Howard in charge.

Why would Scottie go out of her way to lie and hide everything and continue to push Whitehall into captivity and finish the product if she didn't have a plan for it in some way? If she really wanted to protect it she should have gone about that very, very different. She knew about Whitehall before Howards supposed death so if she wasn't evil in some way she could have just picked up the mantle of what Howard was doing if it really was just a plane malfunction. Resorting to the things she did do to Whitehall really just muddles the entire possibility that Howard was bad and she innocent.

So the way I see any future story line unfolding is that the prostitute didn't work for Howard but rather another entity entirely (or at least from the two parties we are supposed to be between) and then next season we are left trying to confirm if Howard is really a good guy or not. From there they can just use the now stable company to take down all the other operations these replacement people are getting their hands in.

It really isn't that hard for me to believe that Howard didn't set up Scotty but rather just found the prototype and him and Whitehall finished it together. He did save Whitehall after all and he has always treated everyone very well throughout the show. He is just the new Red. They always are going to find a way to make you question him. It just has no motive to decide to pretend to be crazy to have your wife out you just to fake your death just to get her imprisoned just to do something that you could have done from the get go. Any board member wouldn't say no to you cracking quantum computing. Good or evil use of the technology makes you richer than you could possibly obtain otherwise. That portion makes no sense.

TLDR: I don't think Howard is bad because there is no motive for him to fake his death if Scottie isn't in some way evil.

Whitehall reference in The Blacklist season 4 episode 12 "Natalie Luca"

So I was rewatching the main show in anticipation of it returning next week and noticed that at the end of the episode when Natalie is telling Navabi & Ressler why she and her boyfriend wanted to get away from Hawthorne she says that Whitehall is Hawthorne's weapons lab and they were trying to build a biological weapon with her cells.

I can't imagine them using that name randomly only a few episodes before Redemption started. The next episode is the one where Howard fake dies and Tom's storyline begins to take off.

So is there more than one Whitehall? Quantum computing and biological weapons don't seem to be very similar fields. Since in Redemption Whitehall is a person who has dedicated his life to quantum computing I don't think he'd be also running a biological weapons research facility, and he doesn't appear to have the kind of money to name the operation after himself. Was Whitehall the person just a misdirect to make us believe Howard is guilty and Scottie is innocent? They haven't trusted each other for years so I don't have a problem believing they've both been working against each other and trying to sabotage the other. If Howard was trying to secretly fund Whitehall the person's research or Scottie was trying to hide the fact she was secretly holding him why would either put his actual name in the budget? So what if the Whitehall in the budget is actually the weapons facility?

I have a hard time believing either parent abducted and abandoned their child no matter their actions in the show, and until that question is answered I believe the overall villain of the show is a third party and not either parent. Red said that someone wanted to keep Tom from his parents, and I think that person has been pulling the strings of Halcyon for almost 30 years, driving a wedge between Howard and Scottie so that they'd have a scapegoat if either ever noticed the extracurricular activities on the budget.

[SPOILER] What IF there a Season 2

I didn't see a path forward before this final episode - other than a 3rd party villain which someone else suggested.

Now I see a path and it would be familiar to those who remember the old Dallas and Dynasty TV serials. In both Dallas and the less famous Dynasty series the plot centered around family members fighting for control of the family business. I could see that happening here - I'm not sure how good that would be, but we'll probably never know.
