Recover Lost Bitcoin

An uptick in digital heists of virtual currencies has left many crypto investors wondering if they have any options for tracing illicit Bitcoin transactions and recovering their stolen funds. The short answer is that ‘it’s possible, but difficult.’ The long answer is that ongoing developments in the regulatory landscape surrounding cryptocurrency may offer victims more recourse going forward.

Those who have fallen victim to crypto-currency heists either through mismanaged exchanges or hacks have the option of filing a complaint with the FBI’s Cyber Criminal Unit or other law enforcement agencies. An obstacle in going this route is the lack of emphasis placed on recovering stolen Bitcoin; to date, no one has received jail time for hacking an exchange or electronically syphoning digital currency. Broadly speaking, law enforcement agencies remain undecided as to whether or not stealing digital currency constitutes a crime but the good news is that their are individuals and agencies out there that do a good job with bitcoin and other cryptocurrency recovery, infact i did not believe this to be true till michael veksler recovered some bitcoins stolen from my PC, and the whole process was simple and fast. i would honestly recommend you contact Antonio on Telegram: MiguelAntonio01 +1 859 567 9005 for cryptocurrency recovery.

"Bitcoin Classic (BTCL)" - a new premined fork of Bitcoin BTC

See https://bitcoincl.org/

https://web.archive.org/web/20180905213350/https://bitcoincl.org/

Site advertises 6 month pre-mining period where others can participate in a premine if they own at least 2500 BTCL.

BTCL are offered for sale (called "donation") at a rate of 1 BTC = 500 BTCL .

The site features a Bitcoin Cash logo as well, but there seems to be no immediately apparent relation to the Bitcoin Cash blockchain at all.

Over the top marketing ("Bitcoin Classic is the most complete form of fork bitcoin which Solve all previous Bitcoin and forks problems").

People should not confuse this new fork with the obsolete "Bitcoin Classic" client software that ran on the BTC chain and was replaced by Flowee The Hub. Again there doesn't seem to be a relation except re-use of the name (poor form).

Posting this as a scam fork because of the pre-mine and this claim:

by having each bitcoin in your Binance, Coinbase, and Coinomi wallet on 3rd of December 2018, you will get one bitcoin classic

This seems highly unlikely that Binance, Coinbase and Coinomi all have a business relationship with this new "Bitcoin Classic" that would allow BTCL's to be allocated according to user balances.

Binance already confirmed that they are not affiliated. Scam confirmed.

Ongoing enquires regarding the balances on Dec 3 claims :

Yet another "Bitcoin Core" sham fork (symbol BTCC)

Looks like a continuation / upgrade of 'Bitcoin Clashic' is being pushed under the name "Bitcoin Core" and the symbol BTCC.

Linking to an archive of the site in case it hosts malware.

https://web.archive.org/web/20180528145655/https://bitcoincore.cm/

The site was brought to my attention by Alistair Milne who appears to be subtly promoting it on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/alistairmilne/status/1001093431081529345

https://twitter.com/alistairmilne/status/1001094793953513472

https://twitter.com/alistairmilne/status/1001096148109676544

NOTE: This seems to be different from the earlier "Bitcoin Core" self-professed "shitfork" and also the "Bitcoin Core" ERC20 token which also carries the name BTCC.

Bitcoin Cash Plus has no replay protection in place, collides with BCH

This is confirmed in multiple support tickets

https://github.com/Ayms/bitcoin-transactions/issues/20

https://github.com/bitcoincashplus/bitcoincashplus/issues/32

https://github.com/Bitcoin-ABC/bitcoin-abc/issues/163

Developer 'Ayms' makes the following comment on Github:

"Bitcoin Cash Plus (Warning: this fork does not implement any replay protection with BCH, it's not recommended to use it unless you really know what you are doing and you owe the destination addresses where you send your coins)"

Users need to beware that using Bitcoin Cash Plus can result in the unintentional loss of your Bitcoin Cash coins unless you take expert measures to split your BCH and <whatever the Cash Plus ticker is> coins.

Is Bitcoin Neuro a scam?

https://neurocoin.org/

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2575271.0

https://bitgup.com/coin/NRO/

https://bitcoinforks.io/

sure looks like a scam... but its been traded for months somehow... which is weird since according to that bitcointalk thread it only forked in december...

also they want you to give them your private key using this google docs, which just screams scam:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdyRX6pt4XZi47w9YxYuehS6vqQRHWd0RsgkyRduisUuJRP2g/viewform

but at the same time coinomi has them in their wallet... but you cant sweep keys, you have to use that sketchy form and send to coinomi...

sure looks like a scam, but coinomi support it which is odd if its actually a fullblown scam.

any and all information or opinions of this shitcoin are welcome

A list of upcoming "Bitcoin fork" being promoted for "dividends"

The following comment was removed in /r/btcfork - not by any moderator afaics so I guess it was automated spam filtering.

But it is an excellent example of how Bitcoin forks are being promoted to further the "dividends" agenda of diluting the importance of hard forks as methods for upgrading Bitcoin, and making them seem to serve no other purpose except money grabs or scams.

This was posted by user "solracor" in a post titled "Próximas Bitcoin Forks 2017 - 2018 - Dados CryptoCurrency".

It is recommended to be very cautious when dealing with these forks, no doubt some of them are outright scams which will try to get people to enter private details and keys on websites to steal their coins.

I am posting this here only for awareness of possible scams.

Get ready for a wave of Bitcoin forks! Bitcoin forks: 12 until early January! Upcoming Bitcoin Forks 2017 - 2018

Without further details, the following Bitcoin forks are planned for 2017 -2018 (we'll add more forks as they are announced and notes how forks occur):

  1. Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) is a fork of Bitcoin that occurs at the predetermined height of block 495866 and therewith a new chain will be generated as the BCD. Bitcoin Diamond miners will begin creating blocks with a new proof-of-work algorithm, and will consecutively develop and enhance the protection for account transfer and privacy based on original features of BTC. This will cause a bifurcation of the Bitcoin blockchain. The original Bitcoin blockchain will continue on unaltered, but a new branch of the blockchain will split off from the original chain. It shares the same transaction history with Bitcoin until it starts branching and coming into a unique block from which it diverges. As a result of this process, a new cryptocurrency was created which we call “Bitcoin Diamond”.

  2. BitcoinX (BCX): an intelligent contract (like Ethereum) based Bitcoin. Block 498888. https://bcx.org/. NOTE: Snapshot has already occurred; Futures are being traded, no currency has been released.

  3. Super Bitcoin (SBTC): like BitcoinX, an intelligent contract based on Bitcoin. Block 498888. http://www.supersmartbitcoin.com/index.html. NOTE: Snapshot has already occurred; Futures are being traded, no currency has been released.

  4. Bitcoin Platinum (BTP): According to the website, "Satoshi's original vision of decentralized electronic money". Around 12 December. Blocks 497757 / 498533. https://bitcoinplatinum.github.io/ko.html TIP: Bitcoin Platinum is rumored to be fake see: Bitcoin Platinum Created by South Korean Teen as a scam, the local market is erupting.

  5. Lightning Bitcoin (LBTC): A fork that is intended to provide "fast lighting fixtures". It uses smart contracts and can host decentralized applications like Ethereum (and Super Bitcoin). On December 23rd. Block 499,999. http://lightningbitcoin.io/

  6. Bitcoin Cash Plus (BCP): according to the website, "fulfilling the original promise of Bitcoin". Around January 2, 2018. Block 501407. http://www.bitcoincashplus.org/

  7. Bitcoin Silver (BTCS): According to a BitcoinTalk forum, the currency aims to "Make Bitcoin Decentralized again". Apparently, it occurs "in December." The site was up, but now it's down. This is not a good omen. https://bitcoinsilver.io/ - then see bitcointalk.org instead - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2311582.0.

  8. Bitcoin Uranium (BUM): According to a BitcoinTalk forum, the currency aims to "Make Bitcoin Great Again." Apparently, it occurs "in December." Https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2316506

  9. God of Bitcoin: Without preminar, it is apparently a Christmas gift from Chinese investor Chandler Guo. Occurs on December 25th. Https://cointelegraph.com/news/forgive-me-father-for-i-have-forked-investor-to-release-bitcoin-god.

  10. Bitcoin Atom (BCA): Bitcoin Atom is a bitcoin fork with segwit enabled with atomic swaps, hybrid consensus and ray network. Exact fork block / date TBA. See: https://bitcoinatom.io/.

  11. UNITEDBITCOIN: LINKING VALUES AND SERVING THE WORLD! The distribution of phase 2 of the UBTC will occur at the time of block # 501878. UNITEDBITCOIN UPGRADES BITCOIN THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTELLIGENT CONTRACTS. Bitcoin Labor Testing and Emission Model, with new high speed smart contracts. Future Lightning Network support for faster, more cost-effective transactions. UnitedBitcoin (UBTC) will be allocated to active Bitcoin portfolios at a rate of 1 BTC to 1 UBTC at fork time. Without pre-mining, stable system with fixed reserves in fiduciary currency See: https://www.ub.com/

  12. Bitcoin Interest ("BCI") is a frictionless global payment system that focuses on three main areas of Technology, Community and Savings. Our payment system has a new integrated savings technology that allows our users to park their coins and earn interest. January 22, 2018 at 11:59 PM GMT, or in block 505083. See: https://www.bitcoininterest.io/

To summarize the above and connect some points, Super Bitcoin and BitcoinX are Ethereum competitors (as they use smart contracts like the Ethereum network), Bitcoin Platinum and Bitcoin Cash Plus are basically competitors of Bitcoin Cash (Bitcoin's competitors as currency ), Lightening Bitcoin is a blend of Super Bitcoin / BitcoinX and Bitcoin Platinum / Bitcoin Cash Plus (since both are designed to be competitive as currency and uses smart contracts), and Bitcoin Silver and Bitcoin Uranium are competitors of Bitcoin Gold ( competing for Bitcoin as a valuable store that is profitable for mine), and finally Bitcoin God is a Chandler Guo Christmas gift (simply meant to reward people for having Bitcoin).

This may sound crazy, but if you think about these as user-triggered dividends, it starts to make a little more sense.

To ensure you get your coins from the Bitcoin forks up to the Bitcoin, you are holding: Make sure to be in a Bitcoin wallet that supports the forks (Coinomi multiwallet with over 300 different coins has been good on this), an exchange like Binance with a good record of support forks (Binance supported Bitcoin Cash, Gold, Segwit2x, Diamond and Super Bitcoin and offered futures on the snapshot date or around the date of each snapshot, meanwhile as a user pointed out, hitbtc has been good at supporting forks, Super Bitcoin futures have been traded on hitbtc immediately after the fork, for example), or otherwise being in control of their private keys when forks occur (for example, in a portfolio like Bizcoin Core)!

Unknown. Here are some of the other Bitcoin HF / air drops planned for 2018:

Bitcoin Rubies (BTCRUBBY) https://www.bitcoinruby.io/ ERC20?

Bitcoin Dollars?

Bitcoin Stones?

Bitcoin Script BTCS reborn from the ashes?

Bitcoin Steel?

Bitcoin Razor?

Bitcoin Bronze (BTCB). Symbol: BTCB Decimal: 18 Total supply: 50 million ERC20 Distribution Airdrop rounds Round 1 Airdrop https://bitcoinbronze.io/

Bitcoin Iron?

Bitcoin Atomic (ATOM) Atomic Coin New Blockchain is coming out soon. Let's launch a new chain of Atomic Coin blocks with faster features. Then, deposit your atomic currency for exchange in the Web wallet before 1/1/2018. https://www.atomicproject.org/

Bitcoin Elliptic?

Bitcoin Hash?

Bitcoin XOR?

Segwit2x fork - looks fake?

Can somebody lend their thoughts on this upcoming fork? There was a thread earlier but not sure if enough people saw it. Is this an airdrop or scam? There is absolutely no news coverage and all the news Releases they have posted on their website is "paid news release". Your insight would be helpful... http://b2x-segwit.io

[UnitedBitcoin] UnitedBitcoin claim from BTC Phase 2 - anyone done yet?

There is much rumour out that UB is a scam.

Is there any reason not to claim until block height #501878 (current block height 500178) around Jan 3 2018?

I'd like to claim and sell.

http://www.ub.com/project/get - Phase 2 doesn't contain too much information

I interpret it as follows:

My BTCs are currently on paper wallet, so I have to do the following steps:

  1. Get a transaction ID

a) send additonal 0.0001 BTCs to my paper wallet

b) import (not sweep) the paper wallet to e.g. Jaxx and send 0.0001 BTC to my paper wallet address itself

  1. send the tx ID from the 0.0001 BTC transfer to UB.com https://www.ub.com/claimubtc

and then: wait for response? Will they email me back? Anyhow I'd move BTCs to another paper wallet before I import the other private key to the UB.com wallet

What's not clear for me: Eligibility: The receiving address.. must be used as one of the sending (input) addresses. Does this mean I need to have an outgoing TX from my paper wallet prior to block height #501878?

Any comments? Thanks for your help!

Watch out for this Bitcoin Diamond scam account on Twitter promoting a site

https://twitter.com/BitcoinDlamond_ is an account impersonating @BitcoinDiamond_ .

Oddly, the mispelled Twitter account was set up earlier than the original.

It is spreading links on Twitter to a domain bcdclaim dot org .

Users should avoid this site, it likely steals keys.

Bitcoin God scammy marketing practices aim to associate it with Bitcoin Cash

"Bitcoin God" marketers are adding a "BitcoinCash" hashtag to their promotional tweets:

https://twitter.com/Bajaj_keshav_/status/939008754288177152

Chandler Guo retweets this, probably aiming to gain some credibility for his scam.

It is unclear how he aims to achieve this after he once called it a "shitcoin" - maybe he now wants to create a personal shitcoin?

Bitcoin Cash developers would probably not be amused by this false association.
