Stores safe for leashed cats

As the title says. Yes. I am one of those weirdos who puts their cats on a leash. It helps them to stay relatively chill and it’s somewhat active. It should be more so, but half the time they just ride on my back.

Mainly hoping to hear from people who work at the places they recommend or have been inside the store with a leashed pet, so I don’t have to embarrass myself with the “but someone on the internet said it was okay” as often, but ik I will face it

“Just look it up” yeah well I tried that before, but Home Depot was the first one on that list and the HD in Tuscaloosa kicked me out when I lived over there and tried it so.. real life people answering would be nice lol

Outdoor decoration help

Hi all, I’m in need of someone to help put up a large wreath on my mom’s house. My dad passed away unexpectedly this summer, and I am trying desperately to make the house feel festive to help get my mom through what is already a tough holiday season. She always loved this wreath above the front door, and I’ve already attempted to hang it, but it requires climbing off the ladder and onto the balcony, and I’m just not confident that high up on a ladder.

Basically need someone who is very comfortable on an extension ladder and can get up onto a Juliet balcony to put this big wreath up and plug it in. We have a ladder, but you are certainly welcome to bring your own if you’re more comfortable. Including a photo for reference - the wreath is hunt from the bannister I have circled, and there is no indoor access to that balcony. We will want you to return the first week of January to take it down.

If you or someone you know can do this, please DM me with what you believe is a fair pay for this task. I don’t imagine it takes more than 15-20 min. House is located in Indian Springs.

Thank you!

Appliance purchases - specifically washers and dryers - in the area?

I know Home Depot, Lowe’s, Best Buy, etc, but I see that we have some more appliance outlet-like stores in the area. Has anyone used one of these with good success? Or any to avoid? Need at least a dryer rather quickly.

ISO small furry friend

Hello all! As the title suggests I’m searching for a small breed dog to bring into my home. My 15yr old Pom Pom passed away January of this year and I’m finally ready to be dog mom again. I do not mind paying a rehoming fee. Also the dog does not have to be purebred nor necessarily have to be a pup but I would prefer under 2yrs old.

SN: I’ve been checking the GBHS over the last month and they rarely have small breeds so I’m looking for other options

Old Summit Horses

Does anyone have a photo or link to a photo of the stone horse statues atop the staircase at the summit? I haven't been there since 2005 and can't find any record of them, though I remember them well. Thank you!

Moving to Birmingham from Colorado - need doctor recommendations or tips for finding doctors.

As the title says, I'm moving cross country to Birmingham! I'm super excited! But this is my first time moving across the country and my biggest concern is finding adequate medical care. Of course I need to find a GP then I also need to find a couple specialists for various ailments. I hope this sort of post is allowed here.

A few of my medications are controlled then others I need daily or I will fall will. I'm going back to school at UAB, so it's really important that I start of the new semester with access to my meds.

I have great insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield, so I don't think that will be an issue. In addition to a PCP, if anyone has an recommendations for a sleep specialist/pulmonologist (for narcolepsy), mental health clinic that deals with ketamine therapy and rheumatologist (for chronic pain).

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! And I'll see yall in January!

Ideas for Christmas?

Coming home to Bham for the holidays (Dec 22-28) and I was sadden by the lack of concerts or really anything going on at this time. Also now scrambling to find things to do with my parents and my SO who’s never been to AL before.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I typically did the AL theater, favorite restaurants/bars, and a concert for the past years, but the only showing I’ll be in town for the AL Theater is sold out :(

We’re in our mid 20s, not really big country music fans, and no kids so trying to find something that could work.

(Also HMU if you know of anyone selling a few tickets for Christmas Vacation showing).

30th bday ideas

Hi everyone! I’m turning 30 this month and am wanting to do something to celebrate. Does anyone have a recommendation for a cool restaurant to go to? Like good drinks/vibes. Or any place that would be to go to do something. Top golf is so expensive, so probs not that.

Looking for Reputable Car Stereo Shops in the Metro

Looking to replace my 2011 Tacoma’s entertainment head unit from OEM (AM/FM, CD changer) to something aftermarket that’s more modern (i.e. Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, touchscreen, etc.) for Xmas. Any recommendations for stereo shops in the metro area that do a great job with this sort of stuff? Thanks.

Godless Heathens First Wednesday Meetup - Wednesday Dec 4th 6-9pm Monday Night Brewing - Social Club

Look for an umbrella (or two) on the table if you're unsure which group is us.

Monday Night is a restaurant (no outside food, but they recently revamped the menu and it’s good!) and we’ll be inside for the cooler months (dogs gotta stay home 🥺).
