More dickery from Richard. This time giving Elise a nip. She just walked off. I swear these two get along normally!
He also grabbed the Egyptian goose that hangs around here and lifted the poor thing off the ground!
Last week I hissed back at him, which seemed to catch him by surprise. I almost felt bad because he avoided me for a bit after that. 😅 Back to his usual dick self the next day though. Phew!l
Someone on r/owls thought this would make a good ‘caption this’ photo. So far, the best is: “What’s your name?” “Tony…” Thought I’d post here too because the Coopers Hawk definitely fit the r/ description!
About the photo: I was out with the camera one morning in June and heard an awful squawking coming from across the marsh. Wading through the tall reeds I came to some hard ground and a big willow tree in which I found these two perched, one on either side of the trunk. The owl seemed untroubled by the Coopers Hawk, but every now and then it would turn and give the hawk a look. The hawk would quiet down temporarily, only to start up again when the owl looked away. Eventually the owl flew off followed closely by its squawking companion.
The shiny cowbird (Molothrus bonariensis) replaces the eggs in sparrow nests with their own, and the poor sparrow has to raise and feed the much bigger bird. The big jerk here was crying a lot so that its foster parent would feed it. The ground is full of bird feed, but the poor sparrow has to pick it and place it in its foster child's beak.
It was worth it in my opinion 😂
It took months in the Spring, early Summer to get rid of an annoying Robin that screeched night and day with the same call. It is now Winter and I have a Robin at my window yelling at me again staring at 3a. Please tell me this is temporary!
Driving me crazy 😫
Ok so I just noticed on my kitchen floor there’s bird shit. Is there a silent killer in my house hiding in the abyss? Chimney flue is shut (I have had birds come in thru there before) and have two hunters in the house (🐈🐕) that wouldn’t let that go unnoticed. Wtf?

Saw an owl sleeping on my neighbours house 8 this morning, a bunch of magpies and a couple ravens started picking a fight!
I just moved & one of my neighbors has an awful pet bird that screams morning, noon & night. I need help identifying this bird so I can play its predator call to get it to stfu. How do I identify a bird by its screams? I have a video but I can’t upload it here. Need any advice & help for my sanity’s sake.
