My brother and his fiancé often joke about seeing “gay cardinals” on Christmas merchandise. They are both outdoorsy guys and like birdwatching, so it seemed like a fitting gift! Painting is watercolor and I’ll be putting it into a walnut frame for them.

" For the Pigeons That Here" is a snippet from 1970s Chicago cinema history.
The movie entitled Cooley High was the first "black" movie filmed in the city of Chicago. Cooley High was a coming of age movie depicting humor, love, and violence. The success of this movie led to the television show Good Times, which was about a families struggles living in the Cabrini Green projects of Chicago. As a child, I would sometimes wake up at 1am , and I'd turn the television to channel 9, and Cooley High would have already started, years later I was able to finally watch the movie in its entirety.
Growing up before we'd take a drink of whatever liquor we purchased, we'd pour a little of the contents out on the pavement in the remembrance of this movie and friends we had lost along the way

Since I don't have the energy to mess with my wet media or coloured pencils and keep them organized with chemo, I decided to get the Strathmore 400 grey toned sketch paper so I'm not wasting my thick paper on dry media. I'm liking it. It's thinner than most of my other papers, but has enough weight to handle ink pens and gel pen with no shadowing on the back. I already knew my beloved uni Nano dia coloured led had a decent opacity, but they showed up very nicely on this paper. This fluffy robin turned out very well imo.
