Hey there, wondering if anyone can help. We’re planning to visit Spain’s Basque region in late February 2025, staying for about 7 nights (8 days). There’s a few bits we want to do during our time there - in particular Bilbao, San Sebastián and Rioja region.

Current plan is land in Bilbao on Saturday and stay for two nights there. Then hire a car, drive to Rioja region (around Laguardia), and stay here for a couple of nights. Then drive to San Sebastián, stay here for 3/4 nights then drive back to Bilbao via the northern coast (Igeldo, Zumaia, Gaztelugatxeko, Plentzia etc) for our plane back home.

Does this itinerary sound reasonable - should we spend more time in SS or Bilbao / is Rioja even worth visiting that time of year as read somewhere that lots of vineyards are closed around then(?). Should we do the trip another way round? Is there anything else you recommend seeing or doing?

More info: we’re a young couple who like keeping our holidays interesting, exploring different places, finding local hotspots and should also add we’re massive foodies. Thanks in advance for any help!

We are trying to rent an apartment from real estate agents, but we are confused about the rental bond/deposit situation. Is there a government agency that we pay the bond to? Or do we pay it directly to the landlord/agent?

Con lo que se paga de mensualidad como autónomo definitivamente no me conviene pero me da miedo tener algún tipo de problemas en el futuro. Chat gpt me dice que si ganas menos de 1000 euros al mes no es necesario,pero me metí a la página de hacienda y dice que factures lo q factures cualquier persona que haga este tipo de actividades tiene que darse de alta.. alguien sabe si hay un truco para conseguir cita para la DGT (oficina Bilbao)?
Tengo que renovar mi carné de conducir y siempre me sale "El horario de atención al cliente está completo para los próximos días. Inténtelo más tarde." en el portal web de la DGT o la app. Independiente del asunto que escojo.

Edit: Concretamente tengo que renovar el permiso del extranjero (UE) y cambiarlo por uno español.

Sé que para el NIE por ejemplo siempre abren nuevas citas en un día y hora especifica de la semana, tal vez es lo mismo aquí.

Hola! Llegue hoy a vivir y a estudiar un máster a Bilbao y estoy familiarizandome con como funciona todo. Me queda una duda con respecto a las tarifas del transporte público, porque estaba mirando en Google mapa cual seria la ruta más conveniente desde donde viviré hasta la uní y a pesar de que es un viaje de cerca de 40 min debo hacer un par de transbordo y el valor que aparece en la plataforma es de 2.80 por el viaje de ida... Hay alguna tarifa plana qué uno pueda comprar para ahorrar un poco en eso? Me habían dicho que el transporte público era más o menos económico en España y creo que gastar aprox 30 euros a la semana esta lejos de serlo. Saludos y gracias por leerme

Buenos dias Bilbao. I'm going to be in your fine city for a work event in a few weeks, but my return flight has been rescheduled leaving me with half a day when I will need to find somewhere to log on.

Could you recommend somewhere good to work on a laptop and perhaps take a few calls that is close to Iberdrola Tower and/or not too far from public transport to the airport? I just need somewhere reasonably quiet, with wifi and a power socket. A decent coffee and some food would be a bonus.

Hi all, I've been trying to figure out if Pais Vasco offers the Convenio Especial. This is the program that allows residents (such as foreigners who are not citizens, workers or otherwise entitled to public healthcare) to access the public system through a monthly payment. Most autonomous communities in Spain offer the Convenio Especial, but I haven't been able to find a link to it in Pais Vasco...anyone know?

Hi all - we will be in Bilbao for a week in late November. Wanting to do day trips to San Sebastián, Biarritz and Pamplona ( in addition to seeing most of Bilbao).

My question is what is the best way to get to/from these sites. Is it via train or bus and how convenient are the travel times? In other words if I’m spending half my day in a bus station it may not be worth doing… I’m not finding great info online so coming here for help.

My wife and I are planning to come to Bilbao Dec 19-29 before heading back to Madrid.

Now, I'm considering Vigo somewhere in there and was wondering what everyone thought of Bilbao Dec 19-23 then Vigo Dec 23-29?

Or what about just Bilbao or Vigo the entire dates?

My concern is coming from the (as far as I can find), the 11-14 hours worth of train riding we have to do to get between the two cities.
