Saw a guy ebiking along in DTLA with a very nice looking bike. Orange carbon frame, aero handlebars, clip in pedals. Specialized I think. Seat tube had a sticker that said “Luxe Bikeshop” on it. I tried to chase him down, but he e-biked away faster and started skipping red lights once he saw I took a pic. He was headed north in the Main Street bike lanes into Chinatown.
Also want to note I flagged down a motorcycle cop stopped at a light and tried to tell him I saw someone with a stolen bike, pointing to the blinking light of the e-bike. And he just blew it Off, saying something like “I don’t know who it is”, after ignoring the guy running a red, and turned away. sigh
Dude was wearing a thick jacket and was looking so suspicious. I tested him by locking my bike up, stepping inside for 5 seconds, and when I came out he had unzipped his jacket showing his tools and was headed towards my bike.
I already am weary locking my bike up anywhere downtown, especially at this Ralph’s, but thought I’d set a reminder out for yall.

I've been literally refreshing this site https://ebikeincentives.org/apply/ until it was 6pm and when it was time, nothing happened. The APPLY NOW button showed the same page over and over. 5 minutes of refreshing later, I decided to go to the ebikeincentives.org website (no /apply) and there the button actually worked. Now I'm more than an hour in line and don't think I'm gonna make it. The fact that they didn't update the APPLY HERE link on that subdomain is baffling. UGH I'M SO PISSED.
Edit: Application window is now closed. I hope someone who's here got a chance to put an application in so that at least I know that this wasn't all theater lol. Worst part is I won't qualify next time because I'm starting a job with a significantly higher salary.
I have never been so appalled in my life listening to this meeting. So many board members spewing stuff that is just wrong. Hilda boyadijan gave a 20 min presentation that just spewed so much wrong information. She literally just said that talking about someone dying was "too political." She said we need more environmental review. That the studies are wrong and the data is fake news. It's so sad to see. It's just a one mile bike lane...
I ride on the LA River Bike Path a few times a week and on 12/13/24 around 11:30 PM, the path was blocked by LADP just north of the North Atwater Bridge. The cop standing by on the north side of the scene told me I had to turn back because there was a crime scene and that someone had died. I could vaguely see what looked like a body under a tarp. I turned around and found an alternate route.
Yesterday, I rode the bath again and saw flowers near the spot where I was stopped by police. I have been searching the internet for any news as to what happened, but I can't find anything. I am just curious to know if anyone in this sub knows anything, I can't quite shake knowing that someone died on the path and I guess I am selfishly looking for some info / closure.

The new extra-wide bike lanes are excellent...not a single bus in sight! Ultimately, they were much better than riding in the gutter with sharp pieces of glass...
::: guess the sarcasm wasn’t thick enough for some - I was half joking about this
I live in Hollywood and recently got an ebike and want to find some people who are down to ride. HMU if your down 🤙🏼
What can be done here, the bike lane is often blocked by cars, trash, food trucks, and that’s nothing to say of people turning right without looking.
Hey everyone,
I need to get some rear shock hardware replaced on my full suspension mountain bike. I don’t have the tools required for the job. So I’m hoping to get a recommendation for a bike shop that in the Long Beach area that works on mountain bikes?
Anyone have good experience any shops in the area?
I know this is specific. But has to be this way. Thanks!
Happy Friday everyone, I'm apart of lot groups on her,but I just wanted to say,I really appreciate this one the most....,there have been some negative responses to some of my posts, because yes I'm very vocal about shit and don't bite my tongue.... But that's just a small minority, most of my interactions in this group have been positive and encouraging, also I just wanna say that my posts the other day wasn't meant to lump all roadies together, but we all that there is small minority of people that feel it's their duty to gate keep...y'all have said as much,in some of these other subs,I've seen people ask simple questions and people just be plain rude, and it's uncalled for, what I like about this sub the most,is the encouragement.... I have thinkost of us understand that at the end of the day,all we have as cyclists is one another, our common connection is that we bike in a big ass car-centric city. But we also know that LA is a very fun city to bike in,there are still areas I haven't rode in yet,and there are certain areas I just avoid altogether 😂😂😂😂. One thing I like about group rides is I've been introduced to places,I would've never thought about biking in,I just really appreciate the solidarity here..,See some of you tonight at all city toy drive.

Great movie but I knew they were in trouble as soon as I saw how they locked their bikes up.
I'm trying to plan a bike trip to ride along Highway 1 as I hear that it's partially closed to cars. From what I hear the area north of San Luis Obispo to Big Sur is closed and that would be a dream of a ride.
Has anyone else gotten up recently, and any recommendations for travel plans or places to stay near the area?
Looking to do a big ride 5+ hours or enjoy as much of the road as I can.
Title says it all. I have never been to LA for cycling and I want to make sure I get all the goods. I am lost on where to book an Airbnb and what hills are a must do. Any advice here is greatly appreciated, thanks!
I've just been thinking about something,so much of the cycling community is road bike centric, not everyone rides a road bike, and not everyone wears Lycra and bike shoes,I notice amongst certain cyclists this elitist attitude that if you don't have the right kit,or the the latest, hottest road bike, than you you're not really a cyclist,or if you don't ride a fixxie, you're not really a cyclist. I've heard other dumb shit as well, look,I'm a 48 year old man,I'm not tryna go to the Tour de France,I'm not tryna race nobody,I just wanna ride my bike, when I ride,I like to dress comfortably,I lately when I ride I have the running shorts that I like to wear, paired with some compression shorts,a comfortable Tshirt and my slip on Vans, and I go,my bike Is my primary mode of transportation as well as my recreation, some folks don't like to wear helmets,I was amongst the non helmet wearers for years, but I don't look down my nose on people who don't wear helmets, although now especially since my accident,I preach the gospel of the benefits of having and wearing one,I'm still fairly new to group riding,I've only been group riding for a little over a year, but I've been riding for years... But I'm just a little taken aback by some mentality by some of these folks...,no questions here, just a rant of a frustrated cyclist...
