Hi! Anyone cycling in these areas. Looking for beginner riders to meet up with.
Here's a official list of road closures for those of you wondering in Malibu canyons and LA area.
Does anyone know if the beach path along the coast is open from SM to Will Roger's state beach? I want to bike from Will Roger's on the bike path going to PV multiple times to give me a century ride. I know PCH is closed but the bike path on the beach shouldn't be.
Looking to update a bike we inherited for my wife, and being new to the area trying to get some recs. I don’t want to break the bank, so can disassemble and reassemble myself, but also don’t want to pay more for a refresh than a new bike would cost .
Thanks in advance!
Hey all. I did a ride to Franklin canyon today taking a chance it was open. It was still taped off. I noticed all the other closed off parks and lookouts nearby were open like runyan and the laurel canyon dog park.
BUT the guy in front on guard said me and this nice woman cyclist I met could go in. So we went in. He said that to some hikers as well.
As I rode up I was a little suspicious something might be wrong as I didn't see anyone else except a few people hiking at the lower end.
As I got to the top suddenly I saw cops and they had stopped this couple with their dog and was ticketing them. I didn't turn and drop (maybe I should have) but I went up and asked what was happening.
The cop asked what I was doing. I was just honest and explained about the guy at the bottom and the woman cyclist. I wouldnt have gone up if that guy hadn't said it was OK. Luckily the woman cyclist came up as well and she backed up my story. They let us go but wouldnt let us leave from the top they insisted we ride to the bottom.
As I went down I saw a number of hikers and warned them. So I dont know if it was a case of one hand not knowing what the other was doing... but luckily no ticket.
The tickets are 175 dollars BTW so dont surpass the yellow tape.
Just saw news article that PCH will be open from SM to malubu on Sunday. Speed limit is 25mph and lights will be flashing red. One lane each way. Wonder if it's safe to cycle up pch to malibu Sunday.
hanging out on abbot kinney today and watching all the bicyclists AND pedestrians maneuver around cars was sooo stressful! this place would benefit immensely from closing car traffic but i feel like it would never happen. thoughts?
Are the beach bike trails from SM to PV open? Want to ride the coast this weekend.
Hello! Someone gained access into our storage room (I’m in the Los Feliz area) and stole my Canyon bike (amongst other things). Probably a long shot but I just figured I would post it here in case anyone happens to come across someone trying to sell it on Marketplace, Craigslist, or wherever these scumbags try to sell bikes they steal.
Hey just wondering its 7:44 anyone know whats up
Heading there for a business meeting. I’m planning to take my road bike and ride it around on pavements within Avalon after the meeting. Do I need to buy a bike permit?
I’m under an impression that the riding around will be pretty short since most roads over there look to be too rough for my tires, but any tips are appreciated. Thank you.
Critical mass is tomorrow. I’m wondering if I will be able to catch the red line back to noho after the event? And will there be a lot of riders on the train at that time? I’m riding with my girls little brother and he’s not used to the train so I don’t want to freak him out if it’s a bit shady being that late at night. I usually drive but can’t fit both bikes in my car. Thanks!
If you're biking somewhere and it looks like these plenty of debris/trash/etc. so it's in need of a clean-up, report it via SAFE's online form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfl1MgHzVZsxL6JUP_q2v__5f8y2HgmlqyWqdM9woXgPbtTZg/viewform
Ladies and gentlemen whoever is showing up Friday for the ride what’s a great place to park my car around the meetup point??? Have a great night see yall on the road
Apologies if this was discussed elsewhere but couldn't find a single thread outside one Mandeville question.
I want to be respectful of the clean up efforts and not get in the way or trample any sensitive dirt areas that need to regrow. What's closed and what's open?
Checking fire maps this is what I gather-
CLOSED
OPEN
UNSURE
Please correct me if wrong on these
Hi all, I routinely go on weekly rides but for the past couple of years I’ve been riding alone. Reason being, my days off are Wednesday and Thursday’s. Anyone know of bike clubs or groups that have weekday rides? Any advice is appreciated, thank you in advance. I’m in Sherman oaks but open to clubs anywhere in the LA/Valley area
Anyone know how the new dump with toxic waste from Altadena that's already begun operation right along the San Gabriel River Trail in Azusa will affect cyclists and walkers?
Pasadena Star News 1/29/25: "The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency moved quickly in setting up a site at a Los Angeles County park in Azusa for receiving hazardous debris from the mammoth Eaton fire — without notifying residents in nearby cities — because it was ordered to expedite the site by President Donald Trump, an official said on Tuesday, Jan. 28." -
