Thinking of bringing my road bike along to LA this week, seeing if there are any recommendations for rides? Obviously the beach path is there but I’d like to see a bit more and not a fan of there and back trails.
I hear riding isn’t the safest and the roads aren’t great unless it’s the mountains in the north, which are a bit far to get to.
Is it worth bringing the bike and if so, any places worth riding?
Put it on your calendar for Friday Dec 13th. This is an annual unwrapped toy drive that has been happening for almost 20 years. Plan your local feeder ride to meet at Olvera Street Plaza. There will be an amazing after party for those who attend the ride! Start spreading word and inquire if you can help us prepare. Ride On! #midnightridazz #bikela
I live in Northeast Los Angeles and I’ve recently gotten into biking. I typically do long routes along the LA river bike path, as well as the Arroyo Seco. However, I’ve done these routes so many times at this point it’s become a bit too repetitive and I’m looking to switch it up.
I’m really interested in venturing out and finding some more scenic areas to ride, but not entirely sure where to go. My set up isn’t really suited for trail riding so paved routes would be best. Would appreciate any recommendations!
Australian here. I plan to go to Los Angeles for vacation soon and would like to do some cycling, too. I don't want to bring my bike over because I fear it could be damaged during transit. Are there any places where I could rent a decent road bike?
My bike was stolen two years ago, and I looked on all the for sale sites at the time but never saw it. I just logged on to offerup for the first time in months and I see a bike that looks exactly like mine, but banged up and missing the seat and pedals. Obviously they didn't post any pics of the serial number, but it's a pretty unusual brand and make, one I haven't seen anyone else have locally. What can I do? Is it worth trying to get the police to do anything? As a woman I don't feel comfortable trying to confront the seller in person.
Hi there, avid cyclist desperately looking for routes/insights within the Angeles National Forest here. I was super excited to rent a road bike and explore Mt Baldy tomorrow/Monday but the road closure is throwing me off and I am not entirely sure if alternatives such as Mt. Wilson contain closures as well.
Alternatively, since accommodation and bike rental is not booked, I also quite keen on the Santa Monica Mountains with e.g. Thousand Oaks as a base. However, could not find suitable bike rentals there, unfortunately.
What would you do? I spend my whole day researching but very much appreciate your thoughts. Thanks a lot!
Was finishing a nice, peaceful bike ride in Griffith Park just now (Saturday noon) when a huge convoy of Trump supporters came along. Lots of big trucks, loud cars, honking their horns, reviving their engines, flags flying.
I was so grossed out. I hate this.
Hi All,
Located in Faircrest Heights. I wanted to gauge if there are any groups around the west of LA that do casual, social rides? I love doing ballona creek path and up Venice Beach/Santa Monica. Looking for a way to get outside/improve fitness/and meet new nice people!
If anything, if this sounds cool to some folks, sound off below and maybe I'll create a little group ride list to organize a small group of just us.
Best,
Rules are simple: 30 second down time and you're out. No switching bikes or jumping in late because you were afwaid. Last three reset for foot down.
Hey all, I'm looking for the cycling route that brings you up and behind the Hollywood sign. Does anyone have that route? And of so, is it a gravel route or would a road bike be ok?

Have fun and be safe out there!
Had a great ride up there on a gorgeous day so thanks for getting me out!
I have a 2007 white KHS Flite 100 track bike that I’m giving away.
It’s a size 52. Needs new tires and chain, maybe a new brake cable. Brake pad is is ok shape. It’s been sitting unridden for about 10 years and needs a new home for someone that would actually ride it!
I live on the West Side near LAX.
Will take IPAs as a donation as well.
Cheers!
UPDATE: Bike has found a new home. Thanks everyone!
Hey Bike LA,
Thoughts on parking my bike at or near the Shrine auditorium? Anyone know if they have racks nearby? I've never been. Thanks in advance.
We have once again an incredible opportunity to provide feedback to LA Metro regarding their draft budget for 2026. Metro Bike Share has it's own bucket under "Countywide Planning & Development". There is even a question on expansion areas! There are many other aspects of the budget you can provide feedback on. Please use your voice and tell your friends in case they too want to provide feedback with Metro on the way they split their budget. https://mybudget.metro.net/online
Hey y’all,
I’ve just started a new gig and am looking for suggestions for the safest route to bike between my home in Del Rey and Santa Monica, intersection of 20th and Santa Monica Blvd.
I’ve ridden it once on Google’s route for bicycles and ended up on more than a few streets with no bike lanes: lots of Walgrove, 23rd, 21st. They’re ok but got more than a few irritated drivers blowing by me to their next red light.
Wondering if anyone has recommendations for a safe N/S route. I’m on an e-bike and don’t mind some extra distance as a trade off for safety/chill traffic.
Thanks for your insights.
I know some of the climbs are good. Are the drivers aggressive? I've heard some not-nice things.
Edit: thanks to everyone who replied. Means a lot
Expecting to get downvoted hard but I occasionally check on this sub regarding taking that fireroad between the Hollywood Sign to GP... I know it's not allowed but wondering if people have been riding it. The heatmap on RWGPS and Strava are showing as such. It's not a good look but it's super tempting. I doubt the vast majority of hikers would care but I know the horse people would be up in arms. Thoughts?
Sunset meet ups are officially over this year but Monday Night Rides will continue to roll in. See ya tomorrow for a 20ish mile route. #chieflunes
Hey! I’m looking to buy a two bike - bike rack connected to my 2” hitch. I have two road bikes i normally load into my car suv back trunk; one on top of another. It’s not great lol. I am training for an olympic tri and drive about 5-10 miles to get to our biking locations.
I’m not sure if i should splurge on the 1UP EQUIP’D rack for 803$ or go for something more adorable on fb market place? I’m looking for a rack that will last me the rest of my life, if possible!
Alternatively recommendations on racks would be great, thanks !!
Thanks everyone for the help and looking out . Grateful to get it back . Gonna double lock from now on
