I’ve been working on an app called Pointz that’s all about helping riders find safer, low-stress routes to feel confident and comfy on the roads. Right now, it has emergency roadside assistance, plus a color-coded road safety map (from red to dark green for safety ratings), a slider to help choose the optimal balance of safety vs. speed, and options for specific preferences, like avoiding hills, selecting routes for different bike types, avoiding multi-use paths, and more. It has a bunch of other things like a way to record your ride (like Strava), GPX exporting, and even crowdsourcing (like Waze). But I'm curious—what features would you all actually use? Especially folks who are new/intermediate to riding in cities and suburbs. Would love to hear your thoughts

I found this handkerchief on the side of the trail yesterday, if this belongs to you I go by Pundt Park around 5pm almost daily if you'd like it returned.
Visiting for the weekend looking for a group ride Saturday morning. I avg 20mph but looking for something around 15mph over 20 miles or so.
Also any suggestions on rental locations? Looking for a road or fixie.
Hi Guys,
I’m finally ready to make the leap to trying clipless. I’ve already got a set of Shimano SPD pedals. I just need the shoes. Anyone have any insight on where in Houston area has the best selection of cycling shoes to try on? I don’t want to just order some online and wind up with something that doesn’t feel right. Thanks for any help.

shake shack in downtown by the redline. was surprised that itd be there of all places.
Pretty much the title, is there a reason the residents on heights blvd have to have their trash cans in the bike lane? Id imagine they could be picked up a little further back. That road is apart of my commute and it’s really annoying to have to dodge these especially when the road is busier. Not sure what can even be done but thought about leaving some flyers on them so they’re aware

Cool ride through the east side! really nice campus at The center for Pursuit.
Address: 4400 Harrisburg Blvd, Houston, TX, 77011
Here are my comments:
SH 105 and FM 362 are used by bicycle tourists traveling in the vicinity of Navasota. It is troubling, therefore, that there is no occurrence at all in the public meeting documents of the word "bicycle". The public needs to see how the bicycle users are safely accomodated at and through the intersection of SH105 and FM362.
It is good that the proposed cross-section maintains the 10' outside shoulder. The 10' ft outside shoulders should be made of a smoother material, not chip seal, because chip seal causes increases rolling resistance and an uncomfortable ride for bicycles. Rumble strips and cateye reflectors should not be placed in the shoulder such that the bicyclist user will run straight into them... these should be place on the left side of the outside shoulder, not spanning across the entire shoulder.

Didn't want to lose this one! Only in Houston can you nearly die of heatstroke in mid-September...
Kid recently outgrew his bike, anyone looking to sell their used bike or know of any pawn shops with wide selection? I'm looking all around Southeast Houston and no luck so far ...

Location of Bike Tag #580 Flood Gates of the Barker Reservoir. Wasn’t sure if it was Barker or Addicks at first, but the 1945 date on the plaque confirmed it was Barker. Addicks was finished in 1948.
u/garedunordii made a great first tag move. I brought it back inside the Beltway, not terribly far from Bike Tag #1 actually.
Heya guys,
anyone have a list or know of any grandfondo/fundraiser type rides in September/October in the Houston area? I'm coming to visit for a while and I always enjoy doing these types of rides.
Thanks!
I was inspired by the bike friendly business post and have been looking for businesses that offer discounts for being a customer.
For example, Burger Joint at Montrose/Sheperd offers\ed 20% bike-in discount your meal. Since then, I've been curious to compile a spreadsheet about businesses that offer discounts to share with the community! Feel free to share what business/location, offer, and if they have bike racks!
If you've been to any of the establishments, feel free to post an update if they still offer the discount!
