A bicycling subreddit dedicated to bicycle culture and cycling's place in our society. Look here for articles about cycling's transportation role, bicycle community, or other cycling literature.

This reddit is about how using the bicycle affects our daily lifes and how culture and politics affect our bicycle usage.

  • Discuss current transportation politics.

  • Show photos or videos of cities which are doing it right ...or wrong.

  • Talk about cultural events that are related to bicycling.

  • Show insights into different subcultures within the bicycle community.

  • How does bicycling affect cultures and societies around the world?

etc, etc, etc....

This is not the place to discuss bicycling as a sport, share blog posts/videos/images of your latest trip or to show photos of your new bike. There are other subreddits for that.

How to sell a bike?

I just bought a 2024 Cannondale EQ DLX that now has like 75 miles on it. I didn’t know I needed an e-bike until after I bought it, so I’m trying to sell it. It’s MSRP is 1350 and I’m trying to sell it for 1100. Is that too high? I have it listed on Facebook marketplace.

Prince Themed Group Bike Ride Video

Portland OR is famous for it's three summer month of daily themed group bike rides.

This was one of the most fun ride I went on! So much purple, my favorite color :)

Slang word for a bent rim?

Hi together!

Nothing to get fixed here on this post.

I am just searching for a englisch slang word of the lateral run out on a wheel. I just find the official words like lateral run out or wobble wheel.

My native language is not english but I would like to get a slang word from a side impact rim.

We call it a 8, because when you check it on the right angle you can see an 8....jeah....

Attached some examples.

Thanks. :)

Cycling Laws

I just had a man get aggressive with me while riding my bicycle. I thought it was just the usual car calling. He honked then went to pass and swerved at me like he was going to hit me which was clearly not flirting. When we got up to the light I was mentally noting his license plate then stopped in front of him. He was already stopped and I passed and stopped in front of him as if to say, I’m a freaking human and I exist/can be here. I’m thinking I shouldn’t have done that. Only after I was in front of him I realized that was not great. He got aggressive and ended up pinning my tire. I panicked and called the police (United States). Could I get a ticket for passing and stopping in front of him?

I think part of me wanted to see like, is he flirting or is he trying to kill me. I know that’s a little unhinged, but here we are.

Adaptive Ride 2024

You can tell if a city is into biking not just from the bike routes allowing you to get everywhere by bike but also in how it provides for people with different abilities and needs who want to get around by bike.

A Bike Move can save you so much money and effort and is fun!

People spend so much time, effort and money on moving their stuff from one place to another, when they can just organize a community supported free Bike Move.

I hope these bike moves we do here in Portland OR can inspire you to move your stuff by bike.

Portland OR Cycling Music Video

The bicycle culture here in Portland OR is really different, during the summer we just meet up and ride around for fun. I put this music video together to showcase how much fun can be had during the three month Bike summer (Pedalpalooza) city wide festival and beyond.

When you are driving a car, please remember using your indicator when you set your car in motion, thanks! - Denmark.

A few weeks ago I took my Twitch stream on a 43km bike ride. At one point, I wanted to overtake a stopped car, as I drove onto the side of it, the driver chose to start. I shouted at the driver on Danish "Good idea to use the turn signal next time", when I was slowly breaking down, I also yelled "Just drive!", so he could get away. I am sure that he didn't used his side mirror to see if there was upcoming traffic and didn't use the turn signal on purpose because it was out on the country side with limited traffic, even though it's required by law to use the turn signal.

Yes, I could easily have waited until the driver had started the car, when the passenger had got into the car, but there was no indication that the driver was going to drive and therefore I chose to overtake him.

I have cropped the video, so you can't see my overlay from my Twitch-stream, and I am also sorry for the low quality, shaking video. I was a in bad area with very low signal and the phone is attached to my shoulder. I'm also in bad shape, haha.
