Looking for egg laying chickens if anyone is selling or looking to rehome :) I live in berthoud.
We recently moved to the area and have a large stack of boxes plus 3 large bags of packing material that we no longer need. If you are looking for FREE moving supplies, please contact me and I’ll provide the exact address. We live in the Mariana Butte community in Loveland.
The moving supplies have been picked up. I
I’m on the fence between Loveland and berthoud and was wondering how is the city towards Black people?
I need something besides Comcast When is it coming ?
Edit: I’m looking for fiber speeds above 2000mpbs
Just moved to Berthoud a couple months ago from Springs… always had family out here but none of them have yards … just curious if anyone would let me borrow a lawn mower for an hour. Can/will pay
I'm not trying to create a rivalry with the Facebook/Next door groups at all, but this community is clearly the best online Berthoud community.
Maybe that's because we only average 3 or 4 posts per month.
Keep it classy! 😎
Since the info on them wasn't sent to us, I looked into the candidates for office in the Town of Berthoud. Here's my quick take:
May Albrecht (Soricelli): Fire Dept, Churchy
Justin Delap: ?
William Karspeck: Last term
Chris Kurtz: Planning Dept
Aaron Perry: Churchy
Peder Thorstensen: Retired exec
Brett Wing: Construction, Planning Dept
I assume they'll all sell us out for developers, houses from Weld to Carter Lake someday, but there ya go.
And I wonder what it cost the Town to hold an election in April of a Presidential election year, as if it couldn't be done with all the others in November? No wonder the city sales tax is higher than the state.
Throwaway so that I don’t get attacked next time I’m at City Star.
According to Wikipedia “the tiny settlement known as Little Thompson was renamed Berthoud in honor of Edward L. Berthoud, who had surveyed the rail route through the valley.” He is primarily known for his contributions as a military officer, statesman, and engineer in the western United States during the late 19th century, particularly for his work with the Colorado Central Railroad and his role in the Colorado Gold Rush period.
That’s all fine and good, but there’s nothing that I can find that’s truly remarkable about the man. Not to mention it’s a horrible name.
Have you ever been on the phone with someone from out of state, and they try to pronounce the name?
Them: BIRTH…. OWD?
Me: No, it’s “Berthoud”
Them: Oh that’s a horrible name fora town.
I’m also sick of people getting confused with Berthoud pass
Them: Where do you live?
Me: Berthoud
Them: Oh I’ve driven through there, what’s it like to live in the mountains?
Me: Wrong Berthoud.
It seems like this was meant to be a temporary name. And a bad one at that. I’m certain we could come up with way better one that actually reflects the culture and industry of the town. I asked ChatGPT and it came up with a few answers:
Can’t say I’m in love with any of these, but they’re all way better than “Berthoud”. Also going back to “Little Thompson” would be great, and it is a nice homage to our little river.
What do you think? Do you think that an effort to change the town’s name could be successful? Has anyone ever tried? Who has a significant stake in keeping the existing name? What whimsical names could you recommend?
And yes, I’m being serious.
Hi friends! I am beginning the process of moving my disabled, 70 year old father to the area from another state. He has limited mobility and is in need of a more-or-less accessible space (really the only two main requirements are walk-in shower/standing shower and no stairs). I have already spoken with the Larimer Office on Aging folks (who were very helpful), but I’m still in need of some help – so, Reddit hail mary to see what info I can gather! Thanks in advance for any advice at all whatsoever!
My father’s only income is his social security, and so an expensive senior apartment is the last option, as I’d have to supplement his rent to afford it and I am the only income in a two person (two dog) household. (Needless to say, things are already tight and I just don’t know how much I can contribute.) The income-restricted housing authority options would probably be the ideal option, but they all have a very long wait list (years), and I am hoping to move him here ASAP (his health is declining and he really needs my support - I imagine we have less time rather than more). As far as I’m able to discern, the other alternatives to senior apartments and housing authority options are private rentals/property management rentals. This is a perfectly acceptable alternative, but I’m really struggling to find an *affordable* option that has 1) no stairs to access the unit and 2) a walk-in/stand up shower. Right now where he is living, he is only paying about $800 for his senior apartment, so in a perfect world I’d find something around there in terms of comparable rent (I know, I know….lol right?...a girl can dream…), but really anything under $1500 I think we can swing.
So! Does anyone have any ideas about either additional resources to help me in my search or other strategies/places where the aforementioned criteria are satisfied and the cost is not exorbitant? Ideally, I’d have him in Loveland or FoCo, but at this point I’m willing to go as far north as Wellington, as far east as (west) Greeley, and about as far south as Longmont; really, anywhere in that radius. As I stated before, totally open to private rentals (including flats), they would just need to meet the aforementioned criteria. Literally any ideas at all would be so very, very appreciated. Thanks immensely, friends!
Did someone fall through the ice recently? Was driving by and saw lots of fire trucks and ambulances
Could anyone offer any feedback on the builder CB Signature Homes? Thanks!
I started this sub to archive the weird things I see in the area. All welcome to r/weirdloveland

I make mellow electronic music. I play guitar, produce beats in ableton/mpc, and am a bit of a turntablist.
Any other music makers in berthoud?
