Gloomy and cool that afternoon. Nice spot for lunch.
Some friends and I are planning a 4 day trip on the BMT starting at springer mountain. We were just going to do an out and back, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a shuttle that could pick us up from our end point (not sure yet) and take us back to springer.
My NOBO Benton MacKaye trail start date is July 12, 2022. Any tips or re-supply strategies would be much appreciated!
What kind of temperature / humidity / rain would I expect for a mid-July Georgia Section hike?
Is a 16 lb base weight too much for the BMT?
Hey BMT fans! This past spring I thru-hiked the BMT and created a short video series about the hike. There are a few videos showcasing the trail and a capstone video about logistics and planning for a Benton MacKaye Trail thru-hike. A lot of this information would be helpful even for a section hike of the BMT, as it relates to things such as resupply, water availability, permits/camping, etc. I noticed some questions here on Reddit and thought these resources might help, so I'm linking to the playlist on YouTube below, as well as a specific link to the capstone video on BMT logistics and planning. I also keep a blog where I write about my hiking adventures - a personal creative outlet. On that website there is a free BMT thru-hike planner I created that you can download. It's just a spreadsheet I used to plan my resupply on trail. I did a combination of mailing boxes and buying along the way. Hope these resources help! Happy trails! I really can't say enough good things about the BMT - it was a great experience for me.

A short story I wrote about hiking the BMT, if you like to read: https://unfetteredfootsteps.com/the-bmt-chronicles-chapter-1/
I recently read an article that talked about "planning resupply from the trail, instead of doing it all in advance from home". Can someone post how this is done? Are current supply and delivery chain conditions adequate to order from a town at 50 miles to get re-supply by mile 150?
Does this make sense?
I’m from Florida so not familiar with whether up there. Planning my first thru-hike, would June 1st be a bad time to start my journey?
Does anyone have a preference that has done both already? I'd like to start the trail in late September and finish in October.
I see that this sub is extremely new, but I'm glad it's here! Are any folks looking to hit the trail in the late fall?
This will be pinned as a list of resources useful for those who want to learn more about the Benton MacKaye Trail. Please post any resources you come across that would helpful.
