Random but am I the only one who is not impressed by Michaels selection of beads? We t today for the first time and it was just not great. Just me?
I’m about a quarter way through beading the rim of a hat and I just realized that the hat itself is a cool tone beige while the beads I’m using are a warm tone beige.
Not a big deal, I know, but now that I see it I can’t stop and it’s bugging me. I thought maybe I could dye the hat but it’s made of felt and I’m worried that the boiling process to dye it a different color will break the thread I’m using which is just regular thread so not necessarily the strongest, or the heat might melt or take away the color of the acrylic beads I’m using.
I lost my beading mojo several years ago but I’m hoping to start up again.
I’m doing a major sorting & organizing project in hopes that having the beads easily accessible will help. The piles are not conducive to creativity.
So - I have one strand of 6mm Swarovski “pearls”. They are not something I use often. I have used them woven into a seed bead bracelet.
I have three trays these might go in. Please help me decide the right one. This is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but the decision is making me crazy. Too much sorting I guess.
(Swarovski & Czech crystal, lampwork, etc)
All other non-seed bead glass.
Pearls in this drawer are cultured, mostly fresh water. I love these and use them a lot.
I can argue the case for them to go with the other Swarovski; they do have a crystal base, but aren’t transparent or crystal shape.
I could argue to have them in the pearls drawer since they are called, and have the appearance of (perfectly symetrical) pearls.
Maybe they should go in the glass drawer where i have other round and all other sorts of beads.
If anyone knows one pls invite me and if there isn’t and you’d be up to help me make on let me know !
made with Czech glass seed beads, used RAW stitch for both the cats and the bows.
I literally created a profile here just to ask this question because I can’t find the answer anywhere and it’s driving me insane. I’m relatively new to beading and the brick stitch but I have a pattern here for earrings that goes: Row 1: (2) G Row 2: (1) G, (1) Blank, (1) G Row 3: (2) G Row4; (1) G Row 5: (2) G
I can figure out everything else BUT these rows and I’m going insane. I don’t know what the technique is called to even look it up but it makes a loop for an earring with the beads looking like a normal brick stitch pattern, just the nice hole in the center….. My brain is reading it as a single bead increase and I can’t find anything hat shows how to do an increase to start a row with only 1 bead? But these 5 rows are why I’m struggling with. Please help 😭
Made these earring for a rave and I’m beyond excited to wear them! Made a small mistake with the pair on the left that I could fix but I’m overall happy
I am fairly new, having only completed 2 beaded crochet christmas ball ornaments. I found the best size beads for me are 10/0 round seed beads.
Where I am having an issue now when I go to Michaels, Joannes or Hobby Lobby they seem to have all the other sizes BUT 10/0.
I tried the Myuki cylinders, but on the rounded ends of ball, they didn't lay as nicely as the round seed beads.
Since I couldn't find them in‐person i started checking around on line but everything goes from 6/0 to 11/0.
Does anyone know why this is? Or are they labeled something else so I am looking past them?
I'm sure I could somehow go up a size bead and make it work but then I feel like I am back to the drawing board with finding the right hook and thread AND Styrofoam ball for filling.
I can't go down to 11/0 as that's past my ability to see the work comfortably.
I'm already using a magnifying glass and light with my glasses. I really wish I could also find a LARGE higher power magnifier. The 5x+ are usually just little spots in the larger lens.
I started beading in Fall, making earrings and wanted to try something different! I think I prefer doing stuff like this. I can zone out and it just feels so meditative. Got these great stencils on Etsy from SilvercharmsCrafts . Can’t wait to keep practicing!
I’ve been using e6000 low odor because the regular makes me sick. Lately my backing has not been sticking to my beadwork even though I give the glue a full day to dry. What other brand can I use?
