Can anyone suggest a great primary care doctor in or close to Beacon? Ideally looking for someone who:
-Takes the time to actually listen and doesn’t rush you out the door -Is possible to get an appointment with quickly if you’re sick or experiencing an issue -Also does Telehealth appointments and will answer follow up messages through a portal or similar system
Thanks in advance
Hello! Anyone know where I can buy a good German chocolate cake in Beacon/Fishkill/Wapp/HJ? Ty!
I'm 24F moving from Staten Island to Beacon. I used to live in Westchester and fell in love with the Hudson Valley while I was there but moved back to SI for a little when in between jobs. I'm just scared about moving by myself and meeting people in both the friends and dating sense. I know NYC is usually suggested for young singles, but I much prefer nature, quiet, and community and want to live somewhere with people who enjoy the same. Anyone have any experience/advice they could lend me?

Just a light vent haha, Beacon is so beautiful. My family has lived here for 25 years, and I cannot get over how much the powerlines kill the views here, I wish they put them all underground when they were tearing up the sidewalks this summer.
Anybody know if that’s in the cards for the future?
Hello - Looking for a new vet here. We have been using the Beacon Veterinary Associates on Main St. for a while. It's a great vet... if you're wealthy. The people at BVA are very nice and the place is fine, but the costs are totally ridiculous. They are more expensive than when we lived in NYC. It feels like straight up price gouging IMO. Had to do some routine checkup stuff and get annual allergies addressed this summer and it required 2 visits and cost over $1,000 for an otherwise very healthy doggo. I have had dogs for almost 20 years and rarely, outside of emergencies, have I paid this much money.
Any other recs in the area? I would go back there if I had to, but I don't want to be exploited on price bc there's high demand.
Boyfriend and I are considering a day trip to Beacon this Saturday from NYC by train (Oct 26). Our first time there. We want to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather. Do you think it's a bad or too busy day to visit given it's Halloween weekend, or is it as busy as usual? Just worried it might be too crazy.
Also open to any suggestions on how to map out the day! He’s a big foodie, so we want to hit some great food spots for sure. I love nature, so if we can squeeze in some outdoor time along with the food, that’d be great. And if there are any popular spots with live music to enjoy while we eat, we’d love to know. Thanks! :)
Any other VHS enthusiasts in town? Anyone looking to hang out every now and then for a watch party?
Wow. That is all. More funny that more parents from Georgia were visiting. Little taste of home in the Hudson Valley.
Does it feel like the shelves are always empty to anyone else? It seems like they’re perpetually one day away from a restock. Do they just under-stock for demand? Is there ever a “good” day to come?
Any recommendations for an appliance repair person in town? Our fridge constantly drips water from the freezer to the fridge portion and would love to have someone take a look at it. TIA!
Hello! My family is planning a move to Beacon around May next year and we need to find a daycare for our twins, they will be around 1 yo when we move. We did some research online and we’re struggling to find an affordable daycare that will have two openings. We’re aiming to find an in house daycare because they’re usually more affordable. The daycare doesn’t necessarily have to be in Beacon, Wappingers Falls, Fishkill or surrounding area works too. If anyone has any recommendations please share. Thanks!
Hello - Wanted to start a thread here with some suggested activities or clubs for adults in and around Beacon, Wappingers, and Fishkill. For instance, I saw there is a frisbee golf league at Beacon Glades. Any suggestions would be helpful. Interests include hiking, gaming, ping pong, darts, bowling, dodge ball, kick ball, cooking, other stuff.
It’s getting closer and we want you to make connections!

Hi everyone, I'm going to Beacon and Cold Spring on a foliage cruise from Manhattan to see the foliage colors. What is the best weekend to see the peak of the foliage in Beacon? My cruise is on Saturday the 12th, but I think it would be a bit early or do you think the peak will be there by that weekend?
Is there any interest for an r/ beacon parents (or something along those lines)? There seems to be a wealth of information shared by other parents scattered across multiple social media platforms which is is typically buried under general Beacon topics. If there's enough interest I'll start it and start sharing it around.
As a note: not sure if there's a way to title the community to include close towns like cold spring, Fishkill, Wappingers Falls, and yes even Newburgh.
Nothing pretentious, just your classic American-Chinese restaurant, which is the best in the area?
Hey all! New in town. Anyone know of a bar that I could watch the Mets playoff game tonight?
I’m looking to cut a small amount of aster and goldenrod flowers for my wedding. They’re pretty common in the middle of highways lol, but I’m struggling to find anything accessible where I won’t get in trouble for taking them. Has anyone spotted natural areas around beacon with a bunch of wildflowers growing? An empty lot or something? Along a hike? Any leads are appreciated.
I am burnt out and thinking of a 2-day solo trip to Beacon from NYC this week to decompress. I don't have a car and will be taking the train. My objective is to spend time in the nature and relax. I can go for hikes if needed. I haven't been outside of NYC yet and would appreciate some inputs:
Thanks a lot !
Hello we just moved here from the city, and I'm just wondering if there are any empty parking lots to practice driving? Thank you in advance!
This month was 612 kWh for $170. Of that $54 is supply charge and $112 is the delivery charge. The gas is more laughable at less than $2 in supply but $38 in service charges. Is it considered normal for your service delivery charges to be 2x your supply charges? Or 19x in the case of gas?
Hi all. My wife and I live in a rented townhouse in Beacon. We had a baby five months ago and are looking to buy a house. We are both from the area and love living here. Beacon school district is historically not rated very well. What is everyone’s experience with the schools? Do you think with the amount of money coming in to Beacon it’s a fair gamble that the schools will turn around? We would love to stay here, but if the schools truly aren’t good, we would look out towards Fishkill/ Hopewell. Appreciate the input!
Title. Im new to this so im not sure if there are any psychologists in this field but if so please send those!
Any recs for favorite stroller walks in the area? Ideally something around an hour total outside in nature, up to a half hour drive away. I’ve been taking him on walks around Beacon and we’ve done Long Dock Park a bunch, but would love any recs of other faves!
Hi! I am hoping to move to either Beacon or Cold Spring, NY. When I've visited there are a lot of people in their 20s/30s working in local businesses, and I'm wondering where you found affordable housing! There are only a handful of apartments listed on apartments.com and they're pretty expensive. Thank you <3
Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has ever hosted an event at the Elks club. Do you have to be a member to do so?
Looking for a good place to host a 1st bday party and thought that might be nice for indoor/outdoor space.
Thanks so much!
Hello! Looking for a rec on a good plumber in Wappingers/Beacon. Moved here recently. I see there are a lot of big companies that cover a big area and dispatch one of their plumbers, and then there are local people. Personally I'd rather choose a local person, but idk I'm new here and also new to home ownership. LMK what you would suggest - thank you!
