ā€œA Dickens Taleā€ Performance

Join us at the Bayonne Public Library on Tuesday, December 17th at 7 pm in the Gallery for a very special holiday performance of ā€œA Dickens Taleā€!

Old Ebeneezer Scrooge has only one passion in life ā€“ money! Even at Christmas time, heā€™s more interested in making sure his business affairs are in order than in making sure his friends and family are cared for, but heā€™s about to learn an important lesson! Perfect for young and old alike, ā€œA Dickens Taleā€ brings Charles Dickensā€™ classic ā€œA Christmas Carolā€ to life in front of your very eyes.

This 45 minute show from Bright Star Theatre features all the classic characters from old Scrooge, bumbling Cratchit, Jacob Marley, the three ghostly visitors, a hilarious beggar woman and more - all played by just two professional actors!

This event is open to all ages, but is best appreciated by audiences ages 6 and up. No advanced registration is required. We hope to see you there!

(Apologies; this is a re-post. Last post had the wrong day of the week and I couldnā€™t edit it!)

December 2024 Bayonne Book Club

Join Bayonne Public Library and Mamas in Bayonne for our December 2024 Bayonne Book Club!

All are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The genre / theme of the books chosen will vary. The discussions will be moderated by Bayonne local, Angela van Genderen (@angela_the_ninja).

This monthā€™s meeting and holiday party will be Thursday, December 19th at 7 pm at Thai Oā€™Brienā€™s (478 Ave E). In celebration of the holidays, we will be reading ā€œThree Holidays and a Weddingā€ by Uzma Jalaluddin and Marissa Stapley.

Please note, our book club and holiday party will only be in-person. No virtual attendance will be available.

Whatā€™s the book about? As strangers and seatmates Maryam Aziz and Anna Gibson fly to Toronto over the holidaysā€”Maryam to her sisterā€™s impromptu wedding, and Anna to meet her boyfriendā€™s wealthy family for the first timeā€”neither expect that severe turbulence will scare them into confessing their deepest hopes and fears to one another. At least theyā€™ll never see each other again. And the love of Maryamā€™s life, Saif, wasnā€™t sitting two rows behind them hearing it all. Oops. An emergency landing finds Anna, Saif, Maryam, and her sisterā€™s entire bridal party snowbound at the quirky Snow Falls Inn in a picture-perfect town, where fate has Annaā€™s actor-crush filming a holiday romance. As Maryam finds the courage to open her heart to Saif, and Anna feels the magic of being snowbound with an unexpected new loveā€”both women soon realize thereā€™s no place theyā€™d rather be for the holidays.

How can you participate? Bayonne Public Library has eBook and eAudiobook copies available via hoopla as well as physical book copies. If youā€™d prefer to purchase your own physical copy, we recommend purchasing from The Little Boho Bookshop, our favorite local bookshop, located at 164A Broadway or online at https://thelittlebohobookshop.com/

DaVinci garden

Hi. Has anyone hosted an event in the DaVinci garden of Mona Lisa Pizzeria? If so, how was it? Howā€™s the food quality? The room itself is pretty nice and the food and drink packages are reasonable.

Bay One fire alarms? Do people who live there evacuate?

We live a couple doors down. There are probably 3 audible alarms per week with firefighters, police, etc., showing up. Do people who live there evacuate every time the alarm goes off? Is there a system that tells you itā€™s not an emergency? How would you know itā€™s not just the same old every time?

Did Bayonne stop using mPay2Park for the meters?

Iā€™ve scanned the barcode for one of the meters and it was invalid. I figured the link is corrupted so I downloaded the app and tried to look for the zone/space, but I couldnā€™t find it. All I find on the app is locations for lots instead. Why canā€™t we just get ParkMobile man

Mail hasnā€™t come down our street in 3 days. Anybody else?

I have a ring camera, and I can see a good part of our neighborhood. For the past 3 days no one has came down and delivered mail. Iā€™m able to see him on camera everytime. Just a little worried because I have something important being delivered to me. I wonder if they are short staffed.

Help with car

Hi all. Is there anybody in town who could possibly help me with some car issues? Iā€™m having some issues with my car rough idling and occasionally stalling. Took it in to a mechanic and they were no help. Theres a check list of things I want to try like cleaning the IAC, Throttle Body and MAF, but donā€™t have the tools to get to them. I canā€™t really afford to take it into another mechanic, especially if one of these cheap, easy to fix options, could be the solution.

Please do not put your dog outside alone to bark before 7 or 8 am

Itā€™s a dog in a back yard in my neighborhood now where all of the backyards are within 10 feet. if anyone talks let alone has a dog barking, it will more than likely wake up the kids. If you know your dog barks a lot, please do not sit them outside at 6am to wake up all of the kids early. Setting them on the front porch for a short period would even be better as to not disturb all of the homes around you. Iā€™m not sure if anyone else has this issue.
