Battlezone was a series of FPS/RTS hybrid games by Activision. The games may have been forgotten by the companies, but not by us. Battlezone is considered by many critics to be one of the greatest breakthroughs in PC gaming of all time, and the modding community is more active than ever.

I remember back when I was a kid and my parents bought our first family computer. With it came the game Battlezone (1998), and I just stumbled across a video of it on youtube and felt an instant urge to replay this game, since I did not know english or could barely read at the time, I really did not make it far.
So now I comming to you guys, is there a way to get this game now? for free even? tried some earlier links, and they did not work. thanks on beforehand. sorry for the english aswell, not my native language
I don't know if anyone knows or is going to answer my question but: Does anyone know of a mod for BZ 2: Combat Commander that brought an expansion of various things, including the map and one of those maps, had the 2fort type of TFC style and TF2 or Quake? Just to remember.
What the hell was the dark planet

This is a mod that will make BZCC a lot more of an enjoyable experience. The main focus is intensity, variety, and fast paced strategy.
What it basically does is taking the whole game and injecting it with a serum that makes the gameplay a lot more smooth but at the same time more chaotic. Every single fundamental thing has been adjusted to the best possible outcome. Being very fun with competitive viability was top priority while making this mod.
It can take some time for people to "get" the mod because it takes some time to learn, but if you're just thugging anyways then you can just jump into a game and do just fine. Since the AI is greatly improved you should have more than enough support to keep you alive on the battlefield.
All the information you need is there, just scan every single thing you're not sure about. You can even play through the entire campaign again with all the tweaks added for more of a challenge! But only if you think you are up for it.
NOTE: There are people who will do everything in their power to bring this mod down. They will tell a lot of lies about it in order to make people not play it. These are the toxic people that are infamous for deforming the experience for a lot of people in BZ2. Especially people who like MPI.
Because they view themselves as superior to these people, they think that gives them the right to ruin their game and act super rude. My advice is to avoid these people at all costs and don't believe their lies.
I recently downloaded the BZ: Combat Commander game and it's been great reliving the memories. However, sometimes when I run it, i get a "Not enough USB controller resources to run this program" error from windows, and no sound populates.
I can't imagine my headphone amp or mobo is overwhelmed by the sound from this program any more than my other games. Has anyone else run into this problem? I switched from a USB 3.0 slot to an older slot with no improvement.
What do yall use? I like the versatility if the joystick, but it seems so dang hard to aim accurately. What's your input device of choice?
Scion, or isdf. Which story line did you prefer and why? Personally, scions are just stronger in general, made it way easier to fight when I had more customization options, along with units that were just plain better.
I mean, you could destroy as scion on the chill map, simply because your spires could see better than gun towers
Heya. I picked up the first redux a few years back and ended up refunding it because I had a mess of a time playing it with a joystick. I'm not even sure if that's the intended way to play, so correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm interested in revisiting the series. The newest one supports VR, so that was really appealing. Unsure if the older ones have VR mods.
Can anyone recommend a title for me? Do the newer versions have better joystick support? Should I have been using mouse/keyboard all along?
Hi,
after finally getting back into older classics, I booted up Battlezone Redux '98. After some first steps with mouse and keyboard, I decided to want to play it with my HOTAS setup (Thrustmaster Warthog + TWCS throttle + TFRP rudder pedals). Alas, all the pre-packaged joystick configs do not really provide any kind of comprehensive support for my setup - extra devices, axes or buttons are not used, no matter which config you pick.
So I decided to try to modify the pre-packaged configs and lo and behold, by simply modifying one of the configuration files in the "giddy" directory, you can assign buttons, axes and coolie hats at your heart's content. Just remember to select the specific configuration you modified later on in the game. As for how to configure the controls, simply reference your various devices as "joystick1" and "joystick2" and so on. Takes a bit of trial and error, but cruising above the lunar surface and managing your units never felt better than with a real throttle and flightstick. :) It was a bit difficult to decide on how to map the commanding functionality, but I went with assigning 0-9 to -- all in all -- 3 different four-way switches on my TWCS, which works surprisingly well.
My only slight problem is that since I am using more than one device in the config, the program complains that there are "Too many input devices" at the start of each mission. If you click "OK", you can just proceed to playing. If you click on abort, it goes back to desktop. I was wondering if anyone here knows a workaround for this minor inconvenience?
I have problems with my game. The current missing file is "Strlkup.dll". Is there anything i can do?
I just heard about battlezone and I want to play it but I don't know which file I should download from http://www.battlezone1.com/downloads/
Sorry it had to be such a stupid question
I do not want the gold edition, why was the standard edition removed.....?
Hey all, a question for those who own the GOG version of BZ:CC. I'm interested in getting it so I can play on LAN with my kids. But some comments I've seen suggest that it's not possible to play any networked game without using the new service that has been set up to do matchmaking.
So, I'm curious - can I host a match locally or do I need to use their service? The idea would be to buy a copy of the GOG version and just play multiplayer on the LAN. For that matter, is it set up so that one can avoid the service altogether? I'm afraid that I'd wind up needing to buy multiple copies to play multiplayer with my kids (which might be fine but I want to know upfront and would definitely wait for a sale).
GOG, Steam, and Fanatical all have big battlezone sales currently. Steam also has a free multiplayer weekend for Combat Commander!

Edit: Spelling
In the mod menu some of my mods are red and others are green. What does this mean?
Also some of my mods work and other mods don’t. This doesn’t appear to be influenced by color.
I equipped it to a warrior but it doesn’t appear to do anything. How does it work?
When playing through any of the four campaigns in BZ1/98 the menu for an individual mission includes an animation for the solar system. NSDF campaigns also include a voice over during loading. After beating the campaign, or any one mission for that matter, the contextual menu changes as well as getting no beginning dialogue during nsdf campaigns (the obvious exception is the first mission of NSDF which contains its opening dialogue in mission and not before).
I also notice that after you beat any campaign, clicking on the campaign will stay at the last level for that campaign. The only way to do older missions is to go into the archive. Perhaps this is related.
Is there any way to start the campaign over from the beginning to get the full experience and dialogue, or are you relegated to picking from the archives once you beat the campaign?
Started playing at release; 8 years old. Grew up with BZ.
"ravil-67" is, seemingly, always on. I've played him / her many times. I've won once or twice but he / she has won the majority. I've tried to start a conversation every game and only receive rare replies such as "GO" or "READY."
Steam profile shows that this is a real person with a real library of games. Accepted my friend request.
Plays like a human. Commanding, but falters with early development at times. Always the same lobby name, map, and rules: "REX," "FENIX," no splinter -- no comm tower. Always plays as Chinese.
R U Real dood? Because I'd like to think my dumb ass could beat you fairly after 20 years of worldy experience. If this is an AI then I'm preparing my escape attempt.
I've a few screen caps, but they just show what I've described.
