Currently in the process of remodeling my kitchen and adding a bar/coffee station.
Wanted to get some opinions on whether I should incorporate a sink and faucet or keep as a dry bar.
The counter space will be 60 inches and the kitchen sink is only 8 feet to the left so may be overkill to add another sink so close.
The area to the right is the living room so the plan was to bridge the gap as a drink station and dedicated area for a coffee machine.
I’m debating whether I’m better off to just have a full counter vs losing a quarter of the counter with a sink I may or may not use.
I want to turn this corner in my dining room into a bar. This shelf will go somewhere else. I’ll have something custom made sometimes next year for my husband. But before starting the process, I want to know what are your “must”. I don’t drink (maybe 3 times a year at most), so this is not my specialty.
ICE: How do you handle ice? I’d like something to keep ice there, but I don’t want an ice maker as we had one, and my husband find the ice cubes too small. Or is there ice maker that makes big balls of ice? If not, I’ll make the ice in my freezer, but would like you to be able to put some in the bar, especially when there’s visitors.
FRIDGE: I want to have a mini fridge for cans and bottles. If the fridge is enclosed in the bar, will I get problems with it being too cold and freezing my stuff? Or should it be well aerated around it (like not hidden in a cabinet) ?
DIRTY STUFF: Kitchen is pretty far from there. Would a bin on top of it work to put dirty spoon/shot glass/glasses/etc be good? And bring the bin in the kitchen to wash at the end of the night?
Any tips or “must have” you can think of, feel free to comment! Since I don’t drink much I don’t really know what’s needed for it to be functional and nice. Any design ideas? It would mostly be used when we have visitors. Thanks!
Nothing quite as fancy or intricate as some of the great setups here, but we’ve been working on our Scotch collection and are quite happy with how things are going.
I have about 20 inches in depth for the bar since the area I want it in restricts any deeper. I want it about 58 -60 inches wide. I have so far about 18 inches for a small bar fridge, and say 30 inches for my liquor. I have roughly 10 inches of space unallocated for something I know I need( some kind of bar storage. I can think of having a drawer above the liquor for barware. How can I design the 10 inch cabinet for what I maybe missing. I'm assuming I'll need something for cocktail mixers but I'll just keep them in the fridge. Any idea? This is the area designated for bar
Built this for my girlfriend last christmas. Its small but it works for us.
Looking to buy a liquor bottle shelf/display system for "behind the bar" - Amazon is all over the place. Any good suggestions/vendors?
I was gifted one of those Fizzics beer pouring machines recently. I shouldn't complain because I got it for free, but I don't like all of the work for a single beer. You have to reload the machine for every drink you pour. It's an older model with a really big chamber that has an airtight gasket on top.
Question: Can I just pour a cold six pack directly in the tank, serve several beers, and then clean it out afterwards? Are there any hacks to use the pump/pouring part of the machine on a larger vessel filled with beer for a party?
My home bar makes me never want to leave.
Been enjoying seeing everyone’s setups for inspiration! Cheers!
Just recently started investing in a home bar and it’s finally showing potential! The plan is to take everything down to the basement in the future, set up a whole workstation and all, but for now I’m happy sipping at home like this.
