I'm watching Planet Earth: The Blue Planet, episode 2, The Deep. It's amazing, as expected. But I noticed one annoyance. The episode is about animals that live in the very deep oceans. Some of them have bioluminescent organs that flash on and off. The producers introduced sound effects behind the video of the fish's lights going on and off. Clearly there is no sound to be heard in that situation at that depth. Why do you suppose they added effects as opposed to just background music? Does this stick out to anybody else?
I particularly want to see First Steps, with the base-jumping barnacle geese.
Can anyone help me with the name of a specific BBC show?
All I remember is it portrayed (well) the earth as one ecosystem. As one specific example close to the start, it discussed how the red dust from Africa is blown over the ocean and directly fertilizes the amazon basin....
Does anyone recall which specific BBC show this might have been? Thanks!
Does anyone know the tracks played on BBC’s “The Planets” last year and where can I find them? Except the titles song by the Muse. I’m especially interested in two tracks from episode 2 (they’re on other episodes too), about Mars, first at 34:20 and the second at 40:31. I used Shazam but nothing came out. Also searched on Google but I got the same result.

So I am watching BBC Earth right now and a show called Deadly Dezasters is running.
It is about heat waves the ones that hit Russia in 2010, Greece in 2018 and others.
Does anyone know the exact name of the show and if maybe I can watch them online somewhere?
Hello all, I just discovered that BBC Earth is covered by my subscription in a paid TV channels. I am trying to search for their TV schedule and the time for documentaries, but with no result, even through their website. Any help here, I am in North Africa. Thanks in advance
Does anyone know the name of the song that was in the background of a TV commercial of Life Below Zero on Sony BBC Earth? It was broadcasted in October and November 2017, in India. It was a female voice and the line that I remember is: "Snow was falling, snow was falling."
My wife and I just watched episode 1, "Islands" and it was super depressing. Almost every species covered ended with despair: a bloody penguin, dead bird covered in those tree seeds, red crabs dying to ants, a sloth who couldn't locate the cries of a mate after swimming across a river, iguana babies getting eaten by packs of snakes, etc.
Planet Earth 1 was mesmerizing to watch and focused on introducing us to species and capturing them on video. Ep 1 of PE2 seemed to take a different path, essentially introducing us to an animal and then showing how it's probably going to die or how rough it will be to successfully live. It was like its actively trying to depress you, and not even about climate change/human factors.
Is the rest of the PE2 series like this?
Watching the episode on fish David refers to a fish who digs an underground cavern in which live thousands of it's progeny as a convict fish. Googling it I get links to an altogather different animal. Can someone help me find more information on David's fish?
