Are there any trail building groups based in Marin? I see there’s a large trail building group in Berkeley that I may look into as well. Tia!
Anyone trying to carpool to or from the Green Fondo event near Petaluma next weekend?
First decently warm day in a while and my KEO’s were really squeaky. Any tips on how to reduce this noise (other than going with a whole new pedal set up which won’t happen)?
So forgive the non-bay area ask from a Bay Area biker. Have any of you travelled to France, specifically La Rochelle and rented a road bike? Any ideas where I might start looking . Haven’t had any luck on google.
I'm guessing the answer to this is yes. I'm likely relocating in the next month and so was hoping to take a run at a pr up OLH before I move away.
Looking to do mt diablo via southgate starting from athenian school parking lot. This will be my first time doing this climb and am wondering if anyone else wants to do it (im really slow). Looking to start from the school at 730am.
I am looking for some tubeless tires for my 29er (currently 2.25 width). The most technical places I ride are Skeggs and UCSC/Wilder Ranch. I am a 150 lb intermediate rider who is comfortable with the above locations. While I don't go riding when it is muddy, there are times when the trail is quite damp.
I have discounts at Specialized so I started looking there. What do you think of the Ground Control Grid T7 and Fast Trak Control T5? Should I go for something with more traction/aggressive?
If you think there are better tires than Specialized, what tires do you suggest?
Thanks
PS Here are some info on the Specialized tires:

This area has been a shitshow for so long, so this is very exciting!
Are people still getting held up at gunpoint for their bikes? It seems to happen in waves. I (37F) want to do some solo riding up in the Oakland hills, but I’m feeling a bit nervous.
I'm not amazing with hands on labor like this, especially something where my bike could fall out on the freeway... that being said is a bike rack install doable? or should I just pay a professional to install it. I have heard of rack attack but some of their reviews seemed dicey. If not rack attack, where do you recommend?
More affordable racks are preferred - no Kuats for example, sadly. Does anyone have good/bad experiences with particular racks (hitch specifically)
Has anyone used the lockers at Milpitas BART? I'd prefer to not take my bike with me on the train, but I can't tell if those lockers are reliably available.
I work from home, buy groceries about 2 miles away, and generally put about 5-10x the miles on my road bike as I do on my 27 year old car. When the car wears out or gets stolen (etc) I'm inclined to just get another bicycle that's more amenable to running errands than my road bike, and give that a try as opposed to looking for another car. I have occasion to need a car 2-3 times a year and I can just rent one then.
I was thinking about some nice medium width tire bikes I saw at Mike's Bikes in the $650 range that looked comfy and had plenty of rack mount points, but it occurs to me that making one trip a week to the grocery store and trying to carry all that stuff might not be the way to go. Does anyone have some use cases that work well for them? E.g. maybe multiple small trips is better? Maybe keeping the bikes as cheap as possible to minimize frustration in the likely case of a bike theft? Is it always good to have a very inexpensive car around to combat traffic, rain and early darkness in the winter months? I'm just fishing for stories pretty much to help uncover stuff I may not be thinking of. I'm def not into E-bikes.
Does anyone have a detailed map that shows the streets of how to get from Safe Harbor (Costco) just north of SFO to Bayfront Park to the south of SFO?
