Is there an azureScapegoat discord server? If so, can someone please link an invite? I’ve found other invite links, but they were expired.

Is Hop - a 2011 Illumination Film - a Statement On the Failure of the Capitalist System?

Hello I am new here but I recently watched an otherwise innocent looking family film "Hop".

At first nothing seemed off, but as the movie progressed I began connecting the dots. In the movie, a disillusioned loyal worker falsely believes he can climb higher up the social ladder through merit alone. However, when he realizes the nature of the ruling class lagomorphs' suppression of the avian workers, he creates a labor union and throws a coup d'etat. This perfectly manifests Karl Marx's description of class struggle between the Bourgeoisie and Proletariat, inevitably resulting in a violent seizure of the means of production.

I became convinced that this movie has a subtle political agenda. After all, these are the people who gave us the Lorax, a commentary on the effects of late stage consumerism on the environment. For instance, look no further than the main characters: E.B. and Fred. They form a common understanding because they are both rich kids who don't want to work. Meanwhile, Carlos, the worker, has worked loyally with E.B's father for years and still sees no hope for promotion. In the end, Carlos is put back in his place: pulling the factory owners' literal sleigh. This demonstrates how capitalist society prioritizes hereditary privilege over merit.

I know that you have made a Marxist analysis of Shrek, so if you plan to do another movie analysis in the future, I suggest the movie Hop as I sincerely believe it carries a political message.
