Hello there, I'm about to get married with a Russian lady in these days.
Due to her work, we have to move outside of Russia and indeed, we had this Baku thing going between us for some time.
Looks like we will move to Baku. My questions are;
Feel free to answer any of those questions, this will be really helpful.
Nordic countries have shorter residency requirements (2-3 years) for nationals of other Nordic countries because of historical & cultural ties, shared identity, and cooperation. Do Azerbaijan and Turkey have similar agreements with one another? If not, why not? Do you think it would benefit both countries? Who should take the initiative in proposing such legislation changes?
The current government is too late to impose authoritarianism in Georgia.
While the Georgian government persists in its attempts to establish an authoritarian regime, it has become clear that such efforts are destined to fail. The 2003 Rose Revolution, led by Mikheil Saakashvili, set Georgia on a path toward democracy and European integration. Over the past two decades, the country has developed as a partially free state, advancing its democratic institutions and embracing Euro-Atlantic values. This progress has cultivated a new generation deeply committed to democracy and European integration—a generation that cannot even conceive of Georgia under Russian domination.
Economic policies over the last 20 years have created a thriving entrepreneurial class and a robust middle class, independent of government control. Today, restaurant owners in Georgia are closing their doors to the prime minister in protest of his stance against European integration. Opposition leaders include officially recognized millionaires, and independent media outlets wield significant influence. Within key state institutions—defense, law enforcement, diplomacy, and administration—senior officials, including military officers, ambassadors, and department heads, refuse to act as mere instruments of the ruling party. Instead, these public servants openly oppose the government’s unconstitutional retreat from European integration.
Georgia’s civil society has also grown remarkably strong. Activists, students, university professors, and intellectuals are now the driving force behind widespread protests. They stand shoulder to shoulder with opposition parties in the fight for democracy, free elections, and a better future for their country.
Over the past two decades, Georgian society has become increasingly structured, fostering a vibrant multi-party system. Most importantly, the Georgian people have come to understand that democracy and EU integration are the cornerstones of freedom and dignity. These values guarantee the rule of law, deeper reforms, and sustained economic prosperity. The Georgian public recognizes that joining the EU will open vast opportunities, allowing the country to escape Russian influence once and for all and ultimately secure its territorial integrity.
This is why I am confident that Georgia’s European path is irreversible, and any attempt to establish an authoritarian regime will fail. Current international dynamics further reinforce this: the United States and the European Union remain steadfast in their support for Georgia’s democratic progress.
I extend my unwavering support to the people of Georgia, who are once again making history in their determined fight for a democratic, prosperous, and European future.

I have created a burner account before posting here just in case. Due to the recent changes in the military service health checks, I am considering to drop my Azerbaijani citizenship.
When looking at the list of required documents here: https://stockholm.mfa.gov.az/en/content/61/renunciation-of-citizenship, there is this item:
Kişi cinsindən olan müraciətçilər yuxarıda qeyd olunanan sənədlərdən əlavə olaraq Hərbi Bilet də təqdim etməlidirlər (əgər hərbi xidmətdə olmamışsa hərbi komissarlıqdan qeydiyyatdan çıxış haqqında arayış təqdim olunmalıdır).
If anyone here managed to successfully leave the Azeri citizenship, how did you get this paper (if it is event possible)? I have not served because of medical reasons, but I cannot find any information on how to get this paper from komissariat? When asking them, they don't give a meaningful response because they haven't dealt with this.
right now at time of posting, there are only 6 people online in this sub of 77000 people, this is equal to 0.007% of users, not much different than 0
there are way less posts in this sub and in many others, all my usage of reddit is now getting answer to technical questions asked by someone 8 years ago from google
if feel like for some reason people have decided to dont use reddit, at least in Azerbaijan
i remember when reddit was tens of times more active
As of late, this sub has been flooded with foreigners asking for travel advice, and almost all new posts are from tourists. I believe this detracts from actual posts and conversations about Azerbaijan. Perhaps the mods should open a tourist megathread, or even a separate sub for travel advice in Azerbaijan?
Hello, I along with my family plan on visiting Azerbaijan and trying to live in Baku for a few months, I was wondering the average cost of living for 4 people (3 adults and 1 infant), Rent, Food and some tourism here and there, I would really like some suggestions from Nationals from Azerbaijan.
I've seen lots of Armenians calling us Georgians traitors for this. What you think of our neutrality?
Salam!
I'm doing my Master's in Peace and Conflict Studies and am doing linguistic research of countries in the South Caucasus (super interesting part of the world!).
Does the Azerbaijani language have any sayings or words that reflect war, conflict, or peace?
I ask because neighboring Georgia uses words that reference the region's historical conflicts (for example, Georgians say "victory" for "hello" and "cheers"). I'm curious to see if Azeri has something similar?
Sağ ol!
I was scrolling through r/shia one day and soi saw someone from Azerbaijan post that many religious leaders have been arrested by the government as political prisinors, and i also read ashura processions are banned, and i know the country is seculer, and all but thst does not mean religious people, and seculer people cannot co-exist with each other so im asking is there another reason why religious practices are banned, and why religious leaders are put into prision
after submitting mine i went to submit my friend's and while i was uploading his picture (which was scanned normally) i realized mine was scanned vertically ...
is there any hope ? also can i reapply again immediately after ?
The Azerbaijani city that transcends the horizons and has the most beautiful nature of Azerbaijan.
They sell this as a chicken Doner kebab (which definitely isnt) and the price is nearly 5$. Taste pretty boring with just lettuce, cucumber, chicken meat with some hot sauce and mayonnaise for sauce. 5/10 definitely not worth it the nearby Indian and Iranian embassy have so much better food for half the price
Also things to do in Shahdag please
Does anyone know of any local bars or restaurants in Baku that show NFL games? And are there any locals on here that would want to go, hangout, and watch the games together? Thanks!
Hello everyone! After living in Kuwait 🇰🇼 for 22 years, I’m excited to share that I will be relocating to azerbaijan 🇦🇿 with my family. I’ve recently completed my Bachelor's degree in the UK and have 2 years of experience as a junior software engineer and APP Developer 🧑🏻💻.
While leaving Kuwait, where I grew up, is bittersweet, I’m looking forward to the new opportunities and experiences that await us in Azerbaijan. If anyone has any advice on settling in Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 , or knows of job opportunities in the tech field, I’d love to connect!
Looking forward to this new chapter and to meeting people in the community!
NEED YOUR OPINION ESPECIALLY PEOPLE FROM BAKU
Travelling to Baku this week. Wanted to understand how's the weather looking like? Is it raining/snowing or sunny? Google weather shows it is cloudy but 0% precipitation and need to pack stuff accordingly!
Salam everyone!
Tourist here, visited Azerbaijan few days back and bought the famous Sheki Halva from Yahya Helvasi.
It had nice saffron fragrance, but it was easily the sweetest thing I have tasted.
Not sure if the authentic sheki halva is supposed to be super sweet. Would love to know from locals here!
