I just heard Your Time Has Come from Out of Exile and immediately recognized the opening riff! It’s Bad Seed from Metallica’s 1997 Reload album. I would be a bit surprised if the band had never heard Reload before. It’s possible, but Tom could also be unknowingly reusing the riff. It’s also not the most complex riff so it is possible he came up with it himself. Either way, I think it’s a fun fact that they share that riff!
Was listening through Out of Exile and “Drown Me Slowly” has that great solo and it is so Rage-y, gets me pumped everytime I listen…what are some of your fav “RATM”-ish Audioslave tracks?
Just journaling here.
Going through a tough time at work and no way forward.
In that downward spiral Chris came in.
He had great voice. He had great looks. All are true.
But he had great lyrical ability.
A long, unflinching look at depression and death.
Most of his lyrics— starting from 4th of July till Misery Chain can be categorized as a lifelong meditation in depression
But shadow on the sun
with my 666-th listen of the week gives me a strange hope.
I know it does not make sense for a song having a chorus that says I can tell you why people die alone
But I can actually feel shapes of every size/move behind my eyes
… never in my life felt a lyrics were written just for me.
And then I question if being a shadow on the sun
does not symbolize how big, how enormous human existence is which can transcend beyond death and loss and all the holes.
Maybe Chris was not saying anything hopeful but that will be my goal. To be the shadow. On the sun.
That’s it. Thanks to 1 or 2 readers who would read this.
Have a nice weekend.
Ive noticed that like a stone by audioslave has over 1.2 billion views and thats a lot for a rock song from the early 2000s, im not saying it doesnt deserve that many views cause its a great song and it definetly deserves it but i just feel like its not that popular and theres a lot of songs on youtube i feel are way more famous but doesnt have close to as many views. again its awesome that it has so many views but i just wonder if anyone has a theory to why it has so many
I was always an Audioslave fan, but I never gave their whole discography a shot. Holy moly can I just listen to out of exile on repeat for another month straight? Wish I would’ve appreciated them when Chris was still around. I saw Pearl Jam recently and Eddie still talks about them to this day. Legends, man.
The lyrics on Spotify for all their songs are gone, they’re still there for Soundgarden but no audioslave
Last night, I clicked on Like A Stone and I really liked it. The next day (today) I listened to it again and I was instantly hooked. I've been listening to it for over an hour and I love it so much. I think my dad will like it as well.
This post was really just appreciation for the band, especially Chris. He had an amazing voice while he was alive.
Anyone have this LP? I started with the 2nd LP (highway side) and theres a lot static. Im a little surprised. Just came off of Mad Season with a clean play. Anyone else with this LP have the same experience? Should I post a video/audio recording? Was this a bad press for all? Or just a one time fluke for me? Im so disappointed.
Help me
Decided to share this on here what do y’all think?
My dad got this back when he worked in music
Don't get me wrong; it sounds good, REALLY good. Chris is beyond legendary singer.
But this song would be really nice if Tom Morello had more of that grungy distortion in between those chorus where Chris sings god-like.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it's Morello's style. Song is good as it is too tho. Awesome song.
Got myself an Audioslave tattoo on holiday in Tenerife. I absolutely love it.
Does anybody know good site to buy a good audioslave poster?
The truth is there are not many live records, I think the most notable would be El Show de Quart Festival and Rock am Ring 2003, for being the longest pro shot
