Turntable setup advice

Hey all, I'm planning on getting my turntable setup in February when I get my bonus.

I want a Bluetooth turntable with a built in preamp and then I'll get a set of bookshelves separately. Alternatively I can get a set with everything included.

I'm in the Netherlands and I'm willing to spend around 1k.

If I were to buy the turntable separately, I was thinking of this one: Audio-Technica LP120xBTUSB (https://amzn.eu/d/j3FlpQF)

And I found these two sets but I'm not familiar with the brands.

Teufel: https://teufelaudio.nl/ultima-20-kombo-pro-ject-e1-bt-107002257 Project: https://doublepoint.nl/project-jukebox-s2-speaker-box-5-s2-set?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAxqC6BhBcEiwAlXp45zNlWlmjK3apbdOyL2enjd-RZVoqFY40oOZuXW4gav-qSj8EsX0lPhoCkx0QAvD_BwE

What are your views on these 3 options? (Just the turntable and some good speakers, the two all inclusive sets)

Signal transformation

Good day to you all,

As is was streaming Netflix to my TV and via optical cable to the surround… I was wondering:

What audio signals are used?

Netflix or any other streaming service send in DTX or Dolby of whatever. With an Crome Cast as input to the TV, (older Philips) the TV sends the signal via optical cable to the surround set. But what signal comes to the surround set? Is this the signal that was send to the Chrome cast? How does this work?

Can some clarify how this works ?

Hoping for some answers…

Kind regards,

I’ve felt that uncompressed AIFF or WAV have sounded better [than FLAC] on revealing setups. Could just be my experience, as I’ve never used an audio optimized, high powered computer as a source?

How to Upgrade Power Supply on a Wiim Pro Plus.

The stock power supply connects with a USB Type-C, requires 5V, 1.5A or higher
Bundled adapter: 5V, 2A. Can I use a 5V, 3A. Is that compatible? Some folks use an IFI Power 2, but it doesn't have a USB connector--how do they do that?

Need a stupid idea for JDS Atom custom engraving.

Planning to buy the new Atom and I was thinking how to make the best use of the engraving option. Beats logo or "don't touch my garbage" image with an opossum pic have come to my mind. Please help.

Is 24/96+ worth it?

Disclaimer: I only want proven audio advice, meaning, YOU personally can hear the difference. You aren't just reciting some dudes advice on audiofile.net or some old man on YouTube. 🙂

Can any of you hear the difference between 16 and 24 bit? How about different sample rates? Since CDs are 16/44, that's the majority of my collection, but I just converted an iPod 5.5, so I will be purchasing some digital albums soon. Most of my listening will be on the stock Wolfson DAC, but occasionally I will be bypassing the stock DAC/amp for my 'real' hifi setup. Basically, I am curious if 24/96 albums are worth the slight extra price, IYO!

Thanks y'all!

Is there a speaker equivalent to the sennheiser 280 headphones?

I loved how these allowed me to pick out all the detail on 320bps music files. I felt like I could properly experience the music as it was intended. Yet it is very affordable.

I would like to have that experience in a speaker system rather than headphones.

It doesn’t need to have a lot of power. It is for personal listening at close range or across a room.

I am primarily concerned with fidelity, accuracy, faithfulness in bringing out and reproducing the nuances of the tracks - along with the full range. Not being too weak in certain areas.

How much do I need to spend to get a sennheiser 280 experience in a speaker?

By that I mean the sennhesier is studio quality but still very affordable. Like under $100.

Would the speaker equivalent be over $300?

If so, am also curious what is the best budget option in the $150-300 range.

Ultimately I might opt to save up to get the sennheiser 280 studio quality speaker.

Which one I would opt for depends on how expensive the good one is and how close the budget option is to it in performance.
