Going on a 20hr train trip tomorrow evening and looking for a new book or two to listen to in order to stay sane. Specifically looking for some more Sci-Fi. So far I’ve listened to:
Not a lot to work off but that’s all I’ve got. Also up for any more lighthearted/comedy-centric books whether sci-Fi or not.
If you need/want any more info I’ll try to accommodate to the best of my ability.
I’ve only listened to Matthew McCounaghey Greenlights and Jenette McMurdy’s book. Just downloaded Project Hail Mary! Can’t wait! Any other must reads?
I am the author of Nephilim War: Shadow within the Empire I have a few UK promo codes and willing to gift 3 US codes. My goal is to possibly get more reviews. Thank you.
the publishing company of fall river has made it absolutely impossible to read this book. I've spent over a hour looking for an audiobook that is the same replica or this book. it starts off with "sing, o goddess, the anger of Achilles..." Just looking for a little help since this book is my lit merit book this quarter for school and I'd rather be able to understand the book with both listening to it and reading it. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hey all ✌️ I am looking for some really good true story audiobooks or series podcasts. Doesn’t necessarily need to be crime , just true story. I have a teen in gender studies and history who is also looking for true stories based on older (ww2 era) domestic violence , ptsd related Thanks 😊
Looking for a recommendation! I just finished Loud by Drew Afualo and I LOVED it! I’m looking for something similar! Let me know if y’all have any suggestions :)
Not looking for the usual suggestions of Red rising, Sanderson, or court of thorns when it comes to that production house.
I am the editor and publisher of Negotiating after Getting a Job Offer by John Champaign and I have US and UK promo codes for the audiobook (via Audible) that I would like to offer the group.
“Every time you get a job offer, an expert negotiator is working hard to pay you thousands of dollars less than they have to.
This short, 9,000-word book is about leveling the playing field and helping you navigate this process in the best possible way. Most workers only have a handful of job negotiations over their careers, but HUGE amounts of money are at stake. You want to get it right.”
Comment below and let me know if you’d like a US or UK code. We would love an honest review, if you do that kind of thing.
Hi! I'm looking for apocalyptic horror audiobooks that kind of focus on the action of the first day and a little bit afterwards? I'm open to apocalyptic audiobooks that are not horror as well. Also if you guys have any recommendations for like survival books as well were the main character is abandoned somewhere and has to survive. Thanks!
I am trying to source A Christmas Memory, read by John Shea. It was a public radio performance and was released on cassette under the Selected Shorts - Classic Tales range.
I’m about to finish morning star (red rising) on graphic audio and I need more. I’ve already read (not on audio) sanderson’s books.
I thought of listening to the riyria revelations on graphic audio. Is it more recommended than the non graphic audio version?
Would like recommendations.
Do you vote, rotate, or take recommendations from members? How does your club decide what to read next?
Spending a lot of time driving and I really want to listen to Jackaroo by Cynthia Voigt or the Dragon Nimbus Series by Irene Radford. I can’t find audio versions of these anywhere. Has anyone else had any luck? I’m in the US
My partner and I recently learned that my partner struggles with reading books but they really enjoy podcasts. We gave audiobooks a whirl and my partner LOVES them. We want physical audiobooks (cd??) but are struggling to locate these in retail settings. Barnes and Noble had a meager selection, and HPB is hit and miss. Anyone have any suggestions? Amazon is not out of the question but is not preferred, and we want physical copies so we do not have streaming issues (and we love trophies!). Help?
I have a long drive ahead of me that I’m dreading. I need a book to listen to that will keep my attention for the drive. One that you can’t stop listening to. The ones I have chosen lately have been awful so I thought I’d ask this group! I know I don’t want any self help, western or historical books. What are your suggestions??
I dont really know a lot about Audio books so this might be a dumb question.
But are there any Audio books with actual interaction and production?
I.e. Every character is voiced by a different person (or atleast a group of people) and there is possibly a subtle music+ breaks in narration to highlight the importance of key moment.
Or where it feels like the characters are actually talking to each other instead of it just being a narration.
I usually just read books, but I want something to listen to on my walks.
I haven't listened to a single Audio book and dont really like podcasts. But I loved Listning to Epic the Mysical.
(Ps if What I described isn't an Audio Book, just drop me some great Fantasy Audiobook recommendations, for me to break the ice with.)
Anyone using Storytel? I was able to get the audiobook speed to 3x in the past but now it only goes to 2x. Is this an app related update or is it a problem specifically with me? I listened to a lot of books on 2.2x and some on 3x. I'm not happy with it only going to 2x now. There are a lot of books I want to check out but I have little time.
I love audiobooks but I find the best ones to listen to, for me, are more narrative driven. I've binged a bunch of Stephen King, lately Blake Crouch.. I find it hard to listen to more dense books that I'd normally read (Sci-Fi mostly). I've tried listening to some Neil Stephenson but his stuff feels a little too hard to follow when I'm driving or doing chores and listening.
Any recommendations for fun audiobooks? Sci-Fi/Dystopian/Thrillers/Suspense preferred
Audiobooks I've really loved:
11/22/63
The Stand
Wayward Pines series
Bobiverse
Project Hail Mary
Pet Semetary
I'm looking for more dark romance audiobook duets with a super strong spice level like lights out by navessa allen
I don't really listen to audiobooks (I think it has something to do with hearing the narrators that hits everything I hate about asmr) but I really love old time radio shows. I'm trying to find some mystery, thriller, horror, suspense, and/or paranormal stuff that's more of a dramatisation.
The "specific vibe", though, that I'd like to find is: old time radio like suspense meets murder, she wrote the show. The only one I've found that hit that for me was BBC Radio's Dramatisation of Agatha Christie's The Unexpected Guest. A book who's audiobook feels like that I would love to listen to.
I can't find the option of filtering only audiobooks
Hi all,
I spend a lot of time driving for my job and so this creates the perfect opportunity to get my reading done with audiobooks!
What is the best platform to start with in your opinion?
I used audible many years ago and it was solid, I also use Spotify for music so my natural instinct was to start listening to audiobooks through them and I wouldn’t have to pay for a separate app.
Please hit me with your suggestions, much love 🙏🏾

Hello, I'm new to this and decided I want to dive into audio books but don't have a clue where to start. I'm wondering what are your favorite YouTube channels that supply free audiobooks?
Can you give your favorite recommendations for both male and female narrators? Fantasy with action/adventure are the kind of genre I think I would enjoy
Hello Everyone!
I have been developing an Audiobook Player for android phones in my spare time over the last month or so. I mainly was making this for myself and my partner but figured it would be nice to share it with others if they're interested.
My only problem is I did not realize how much work went into getting something on the google store! I am close to being done with the process but I need 20 testers for 14 consecutive days for my app to pass their review process.
I have roughly 15 testers currently and any help would be appreciated. They don't tell you much about the process and what exactly is expected of testers but as long as you use the app a few times in the 2 week period that's fine. If you leave a review that would be appreciated. It's not a real review and is just feedback sent straight to me, which I believe is another thing they're looking for.
If you are interested in the app but not testing it feel free to send me a DM with your email and I will send it to you. It being on the google store would be nice and is convenient, but really I'd just like to share it with anyone who would get use out of it.
TLDR: I made an app and need a few testers to get it on the google store. If you want the app but don't want to be a tester DM me and I'll send you the manual install.
Steps to become a tester:
The app is currently pretty barebones and doesn't have a ton of features compared to other apps so I'd love to hear what everyone would like implemented/changed.
Thank you for your time!
Edit: You need to have the audiobook files on your phone and then use the "Select File" button to browse files and select the audiobook file.
Hi. I'm Phil Gilbert. I'm the narrator of the 'Veil of Shadows' dark romance series by M.R. Pritchard.
I have a bunch of Audible codes to give out and a fresh new Reddit profile.
Since the author is much better at writing the words than I am, here's a quick synopsis...
A fast-paced, dark fantasy romance featuring a morally grey heroine who discovers she's the granddaughter of Lucifer after an ancient omen pairs her with a quirky, fallen angel cursed to slowly descend into darkness. His angelic purity has been scorched away by curses, lies, and betrayal. Now, he is her monster.
Since there's not a great way to automate this process, I'm going to try something new below (and hope that the Small Gods of Reddit find it unobjectionable). I'm going to individually list a bunch of codes for the first book. Please comment TAKEN or some such very obvious clue below a code if you have redeemed it.
*IF* you get a code and successfully redeem it, I beg of you to please take the time to leave a brief review on Audible when you are finished with the book. (It's hard to overstate how much indie authors and narrators benefit from each and every one of these reviews.)
If you like what you hear and are interested in a code for Book 2 or beyond, please feel free to leave me a comment here or shoot me a DM.
I really want to read about the last ~200years, just to understand better what's going on nowadays... However i have always kept distance from those history books that are just a long series of battles and dynasties and i'm looking for something that focus on the socioeconomic and natural or technological factors that moved history, like Guns Germs and Steel by Diamond does (did not finish it yet). Can anyone suggest me anything with that analytical imprint? (paper books, podcasts, youtube etc would be also fine for me, thks!!)
Hi. I've recently rediscovered my interest in reading but with my adhd my mind wanders and gets bored easily. So, I realized that I do much better when there are pictures involved, moving or not doesn't matter. I've read a bunch of comics through the years but now I want to read specific books and those usually doesn't come with pictures. Unless I'm five years old and/or want to read only "children's books".
So, my question is: do anyone of you know of an app/website that have the usual books available that you can find in any library (common non-fiction novels and fantasy books etc), that also have some sort of pictures or indications of who is speaking what? Even a simple face image that stays the same would do the trick. And the text visible as well of course. If I can't read and listen at the same time it's not gonna work.
I hope I was clear in my question and that this is appropriate to ask here (I don't frequent this subreddit). I also hope you know if anything that is even remotely close to what I'm asking.
I did find one place that had ai generated images but there didn't seem to be any "known" books on there, only novels from websites with manga/comic esque stories (there is one story there I like but as I said, I also want to read specific, known, "physical" books by published authors).
I appreciate any help. Thank you!
Hi. Looking for audiobook recommendations similar to lights out. IYKYK.. No fantasy or supernatural, please. ☺️
