I often have moments between audiobooks where I need something to lift my spirits and make me laugh, so here I present to you my top audiobooks that will make you laugh out loud. ⭐ = Top reccomendation
Author: Scott Meyer
Narrator: Luke Daniels
Summary: A hacker discovers life is a computer program and escapes to live life in the Middle Ages as a wizard.
Review: I enjoyed this. It's a fun idea that has been written well with some interesting ideas and moments that genuinely made me laugh. Luke Daniels did a great job.
Author: Yahtzee Croshaw
Narrator: Yahtzee Croshaw
Summary: In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about sixty years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all.
Review: Excellent British humour and a hilarious story. My personal gripe with the audiobook is the author is also the narrator, and I feel he's not that great at it. Also, I swear I hear a bin lorry in the background at one point...
Anyway, still a great story to listen to, and it's not too long. Definitely worth a try.
Author: Steven Campbell
Narrator: Liam Owen
Summary: Hank is a thug. He knows he's a thug. He has no problem with that realisation. In his view, the galaxy has given him a gift: a mutation that allows him to withstand great deals of physical trauma. He puts his abilities to the best use possible, and that isn't by being a scientist.
Review: This is a good 3/5. The story is fun and has laugh-out-loud moments but can get a bit repetitive after a while. There are 11 books so far, and I haven't read all of them yet.
Author: Barry J. Hutchison
Narrator: Various
Summary: Whisked across the galaxy, Cal is thrown into a team of some of the sector's most notorious villains and scumbags. Their mission should be simple enough, but as one screw-up leads to another, they find themselves in a frantic battle to save an entire alien civilisation—and its god—from total annihilation.
Review: My review is of the GraphicAudio production, BUT PLEASE DON'T SKIP IT! I know full-cast audio gets (somewhat justified) hate, but this series is so. Fucking. Funny. The actor for Cal is perfect, and the comedy timing is superb. The only letdown is one actress for a main character, but it's so worth pushing through. There have been moments where I laughed out loud in public, laughed hard to the point of stomach cramps, and at one point, I had to sit down when doing the washing up because I couldn't stop giggling. 11/10, my favourite series of all time.
Author: Scott Meyer
Narrator: Luke Daniels
Summary: A peaceful organisation of civilised planets is faced with a threat to their very existence. Desperate to save themselves, they turn for help to the most brutal, backward, violent species in the known galaxy: humans.
Review: Found this when I was searching for something similar to Space Team, and it definitely scratched the itch! Absolutely hilarious and will forever make you giggle at threats of being stabbed. Luke Daniels does a fantastic job with this, and I think it's his best work.
Author: J.N. Chaney
Narrator: Luke Daniels
Summary: They say Earth is a myth, humanity's lost homeworld—just a bedtime story. But when Captain Jace Hughes meets a nun with a mysterious cargo and a shocking secret, he learns everything he believed is wrong. Board The Renegade Star, gather a crew, follow the clues, uncover the truth, and fight to survive.
Review: My first intro to Luke Daniels. This isn't a comedy but has plenty of moments that will make you laugh. I consider it a popcorn adventure series that doesn't take itself seriously.
Author: Travis Baldree
Narrator: Travis Baldree
Summary: After a life of bounties and bloodshed, Viv, a battle-weary orc, retires her sword to open Thune's first coffee shop. But with rivals, ignorance about coffee, and challenges ahead, she can’t do it alone. Along the way, she finds unexpected allies, forged by magic, pastries, and coffee, who become more than she ever imagined—partners, family, and something deeper.
Review: Travis is a narrator who released his first book. It's a light-hearted story with funny moments that will cheer you up. Fun idea well executed.
Author: Craig Alanson
Narrator: R.C. Bray
Summary: The series follows a ragtag group of humans, led by soldier Joe Bishop and aided by a snarky, ancient AI named Skippy, as they navigate a galaxy filled with warring alien species. After Earth is dragged into an interstellar conflict, Joe and his team must outwit powerful aliens, uncover ancient secrets, and pull off impossible missions to save humanity—all while relying on Skippy’s brilliance and questionable sense of humour. It’s a mix of military sci-fi, humour, and high-stakes adventure.
Review: Great character development in this series; however, the stories tend to get a bit repetitive, but it's actually worth it for the hilarious quips of Skippy. R.C. Bray does an amazing job on this with the amount of different characters.
Hey everyone, my name is Nova and I recently completed my debut novel 'VOODOOVILLE' and thought it would be cool to turn it into an audiobook which includes a full cast of voice actors, SFX and music. I wrote this book during a time when I felt very lost in life and unsure of my path for the future. I felt detached from my surroundings and I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to figure out what I should do with my life, similar to the main character in my book (Spex).
The book is about a seventeen-year-old boy with severe amnesia, who finds himself awoken in a strange new world, filled with talking cats, witchdoctors, highly addictive slushies, and criminal underworlds. Throughout his journey, he seeks desperately to find answers about his identity and how he can return to the real world. In his pursuits he finds friendship, tangles with his personal demons, falls in love, gets involved in a gang war, and confronts his own mortality; In this adventure-filled, comical, and surreal search for answers.
I plan on releasing one chapter a week and would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

I just finished Bewilderment by Richard Powers, narrated by Edoardo Ballerini.
Wow.
This was my 1st book by Powers and I absolutely loved it. I went out of my way to find time to listen. Ballerini is excellent.
It's a heartfelt and heartbreaking look at our world through the eyes of a grieving widower and his twice-exceptiontal 9-year-old son.
There are two "lite" speculative fiction elements:
The widower is an astronomer searching for life on other planets. Numerous vignettes illustrate what that life might be like.
The book also explores experimental brainwave treatments.
It was written in 2021, and offers a look into the near-future. A lot of what the book predicted is happening on a daily basis.

Today got more then 30 notification on Storytel that author or narrator that I follow released "new" book (all of them from Podium Audio ).
the only problem is can't look for all Podium Audio books, use to I was able on previous website version but on new only showing 5 books
Any websites for free audiobook I'm from India and I can't find any available..plz..let me know
I was thinking this book might be my next move in post apocalyptic books.. iv seen it recommended a lot on threads.. so I went on good reads and found a lot of 1 star reviews. Is this a generational thing?
Is there a version narrated by someone other than the author?
I tried listening to the first book (Sandry's Book) on Audible and it's a full cast version where all the characters are decently voice acted, but the narrator is unbearable.
Apparently it's the author herself, which in theory should be the perfect choice (Philip Pullman for Golden Compass was phenomenal), but she sounds like someone who's never heard a human talk before.
Literally one of my childhood heros, but even my admiration isn't enough to help me persevere.
Just learned they were available there. Read three this week, my first three ever: Fight Club, Importance of Being Earnest, 1984. Thanks for recs.
I'm an hour in and ready to bail. It's been a long while since I listened to the other books and I just don't remember all the characters and set-up for this book. There is no recap on what happened, who is who, or what is going on.
It's frustrating. I liked her other books, but I am lost in this one.
Is there something new coming out this week that you are excited about? Or just think that everyone should know about? Please let us know.

Not everyone is aware of when new audiobooks come out, so if you are aware of something then let us all know.
I've tested a few books now (most recently Leather & Lark ❤️) and Hoopla seems to have better, crisper sounds compared to Libby. Does anyone else agree?
Looking for an audiobook where the narrator doesn’t sound like the droning teacher from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
I like non fiction, historical fiction, realistic fiction, thrillers, Stephen King’s books, some sci-fi. No romance or fantasy please!
I have been using Sandisk mp3 players for many years like the Sansa Sport Plus. Sandisk stopped making these players and I am only finding triple priced ones on eBay.
Any recommendations for a clip-on style players that support the features below? I have already tried a few players that look like the Clip but they had issues or limitations.
Features needed:
- Support Bluetooth
- I can bookmark any file and be able to resume on demand. I am aware of players that resume when turning off and back on. I want to be able to resume any previously listened file and not just the last one. I switch between different podcasts and audiobooks while the device is on and I want to resume any of them.
- Clip-On style. A phone is too bulky and big for my use.
- I can delete a file on the device when I am done with it. I hated an iPod Touch because it only allowed me to delete a file when connected to the computer through iTunes.
"[Artist] has asked us to remind you of certain terms of the Audible agreement" and then he goes on talking about that stuff.
This would be fine if it was accounted for in the CUE file, but it wasn't and now all the chapter indexes are inaccurate. For example, the disclaimer continues past the "Opening Credits" and into "Chapter 1". Then chapter 1 actually starts. It only happens on very few books.
The two ways I can think of fixing it are:
#1 is very tedious, while #2 might ruin the metadata. Is there a better way to do this? I really cherish these audio books, and want to have security in knowing they can't be removed, but this sucks.
I have looked on Audible, but it doesn't have the book. I have searched on google, but there are no results.
Just finished Big, Sexy Love by Kirsty Greenwood and can’t stop thinking how great Emmy’s narration was. While filed under romance, the romance is kind of a backseat character to everything else. Emmy’s performance is so natural, funny, and bright.
Plot: A young, tightly wound British woman has a grand adventure in NYC, fulfilling a dying wish for her best friend. Readers get to visit “Sunday” Night Live and Gramercy Park, we consider the value of taking risks, all the ways to grieve, and which relationships weigh the most in our lives.
This book doesn’t present anything earth shattering, but when the news is doing a fine job of that on its own, it was great to listen to this well-made, engaging and funny story.
I’d love any recommendations for other books narrated by her if you have them!
i met Matthew Barron at a comic con about 2 years ago.
he is a very nice man, author, and narrator.
https://www.hoopladigital.com/audiobook/waking-terror-matthew-barron/16123150
I LOVED the audio books for The Ruinous Love Series by Brynne Weaver and Lights Out by Navessa Allen. The two narrators brought such personality to the characters, more so than I've heard in any other audiobook.
Any other recommendations with such an engaging duet narration? Those are all romance books but I'm open to any genre.
Dragon Dreams (Book 2 in The First Dragon Rider series by Ava Richardson) is out now, and if you’re into epic dragon adventures, this one’s a must-listen.
Char just wants a little peace (don’t we all?), but instead, she’s sent on a near-impossible mission to steal a powerful crown from her family’s palace. If she pulls it off, the dragon hoard might finally get to choose their own riders. No pressure, right? 😅
Meanwhile, her dragon, Paxala, has even bigger ambitions—like becoming the greatest of all dragons and taking down the legendary Zaxx. But dark magic, family drama, and a forced marriage proposal (yikes) are standing in Char’s way.
It’s got adventure, magic, and DRAGONS. What more do you need?
(Full disclosure: I’m a friend of the author, but I wouldn’t hype it up if I didn’t genuinely love it!)
So I can’t do audiobooks without having the actual book as well, but I am very interested in the Andrew Garfield 1984. Is it similar enough I could read and listen?
I am halfway through Foxglove, the second book in the series and I have flown through them (if you haven't listened to Kristin Atherton please do, she's amazing)
Is there anything similar, i e murder mystery with paranormal elements? If there isn't romance I don't mind.
I am also already listening to the Dresden Files which is more or less that, I just finished Grave Peril
I'm new to digital audio books (have done cassettes and CDs before). I want to own a couple of books and the rest I am content with listening through Libby from my two local library systems. I want the files to live on my phone so I can listen whenever, not needing an internet connection and not wanting to have a limited time frame to listen (like library books). But I also don't want to be tethered to a company like Amazon. Any suggestions? TIA
Basically I'm looking to go swimming regularly with swimming earphones, however you can't really use Bluetooth I need to have audiobooks downloaded - then transfer them to the SD card in my earphones! I'm in UK - any help apprciated please ♥️
Hello! I have a sort of specific recommendation request. I am a lover of all things 60s/70s and love rock n roll. I’ve already read daisy jones and the six and adored that novel. I am looking for something that oozes nostalgia, tells a compelling story, and transports you to another decade. If it helps, my favorite movie is almost famous and I’m chasing that feeling..
Help me pick my next listen?
There is a fantasy book series I loved in high school (Janet morris sacred band books. Offshoot from Thieves World). And they were out of print for a while but I’ve been playing Baldurs Gate 3 and wanted to read some classic fantasy so I looked for used versions. Then I saw they’re all on kindle, so I bought all 9 of her books related to the Sacred Band. Anyway. It had an option to ad the audible version for $1.99 and since I mostly consume books through audio, I played a sample and holy heck! It’s the worst thing. Like there is NO inflection. It’s hard to hear what’s dialogue and what isn’t. I’m tempted to do a podcast reading those books so someone can listen to the books with some inflection.
A lot of recommendation requests always get some of the same ‘Mt. Rushmore’ audiobooks, where the stories, narration, and broad appeal makes these awesome listens. (Project Hail Mary, DCC, ect)
What are some Nonfiction listens that have the same mix of engaging subject matter, great narration, memorable moments, and accessibility that you could feel comfortable recommending to any reader?
I’ve been getting into audiobooks lately and found online The Lottery audiobook - by Shirley Jackson. It sounds pretty interesting, kinda dark and weird in a good way.
Has anyone listened to it? Is it worth it? Also, if you’ve got any other audiobooks you really liked, drop some recs!
I need help with what books to review, and book suggestions, Please send me all the suggestions you like
Using Audible, I like mysteries like Holmes and Agatha Christie but I've got through most of those. I do Jack Reacher and Jack Ryan now and then and I've enjoyed Dan Brown's books. I've done a few Steve Berry but they seem to be getting repetitive. Hoping for some good recommendations TIA.
