I’m new here so I don’t know exactly how this works, but I believe the title basically explains itself. I’m in LOVE with the exterior look of the db11. It looks more sleek, slick, sporty and I don’t know how else to describe it, more “thin”? But I do not like the interior, or more specifically, the infotainment system. But the db12 that fixes that issue, I find to be more ugly in the exterior department. I specifically dislike very much, the headlights. And the body, it’s more BULKY? In direct contrast with the sleekness of the db11. The headlights also look like bug eyes, I don’t know how to describe in another way. Just something seems off. So is there any possibility to swap the interior of the db11 to make it look like the db12, whether it is some custom parts, or straight up interior swap with the oem parts. So I can have the best of both worlds. I’m not sure if liking the db11 is a controversial opinion, but it’s my opinion. Thank you for your time!
Anybody have an idea what colour palate this vantage is? It's gorgeous and I want one.
I would love to hear any experiences with a Naviks CarPlay for Android Auto install. I have a 2020 DB11. I bought the Naviks, but am thinking of returning it after I learned that the entire center section of the dashboard had to be removed to install it.
I found an installer recommended by Naviks, but when he said it was easy and would only cost $300, i started to question if this was the right guy.
The Naviks guy in NY said he has done many DB11's and it takes him at least 3 hours to install. He's in Burbank, CA.
Hey,I was wondering if anyone here has this car, I want to buy it but in Spain they are over priced +300.000 and If I pick one it probably be in Germany and bring it here because there are in a better price, I haven't seen this car, do you know if this is the perfect car to almost daily drive and also fast? my only concern is the reliability and the interior, I know it has the old Mercedes screen but that's the only thing I don't like about the interior.
Maybe I can get an apple car play as well for the music, I would like to have this car to do trips to others countries so I hope it's comfortable.
Any suggestions are welcome thanks!
Hi all, debated showing this but I just think it’s too cool.
My dad’s S3 “Oscar India” Aston Martin V8 Saloon, in Tourmaline Blue, from 1980.
He’s had an assortment of Astons since well before I was born, Including several V8’s like this one, a Virage, A DB4 S1 with DB5 guts. Now after a long hiatus and two children, he in himself this one.
We ended up changing the shocks and springs on all four corners and the anti-sway bar to make it more bearable on the country lanes. Still as comfortable as ever.
Whilst its not an “X-Pack” or any of that, its a quiet, unassuming, knockout of a car. I hope you enjoy a couple of photos of something a little bit special.
This is my first AM. Got it yesterday and I'm still in shock. This will be my daily driver since I don't want it to just sit in the garage. From existing Vantage owners, what can I do to make sure that the car is as best maintained as possible?
Also I noticed that the car settings don't save after each driving session (like disabling lane keep), not sure if it's intentional.
Who wouldn’t mind using a vantage for the weekend. Amazing car.
tl;dr Any guidance for a 991 C2 owner considering going to a Ferrari California (NA) or DB9 (manual)?
---
I'm a 38 year old car enthusiast living in California. I used to race SM and SRF3 with SCCA for a few years, and Lemons & Lucky Dog for a long time before that. I've owned affordable fun (non daily driver) cars in the past: 996 C2, 5th Gen Mustang GT, and an E90 M3. I'm also a dad and my son is 11 now.
During WFH Covid I downsized to just my daily driver SUV. Recently, I needed a 2nd car to do the short commute to work once a week. So I bought a 991 C2 (manual, basalt black, low miles, slicktop coupe, chrono). It's a beautiful car, sounds great, reliable, comfortable, little depreciation, ...
However, it doesn't really give me a sense of occasion when I start it. It doesn't feel very dramatic driving it (like my Mustang did). It doesn't look very flashy (I think I may to try that after years of understated cars). My son gets very excited about Ferraris and Astons, but doesn't really understand why I'm excited about a glorified VW Bug.
I prefer a manual transmission, but have made exceptions in the past (my M3 was dual clutch). I don't feel the need to do track days like I used to, so track performance is not super important. Although who knows, maybe once a year with friends?
Having seen manual DB9's pop up on BAT and going for 991 money got me giving the "Distracted Boyfriend Meme" look at them. But reliability and maintenance on them is something I know nothing about. Ferrari California's also seem like they can be had for not much more than my 991, and as one of the few 2+2 prancing horses it has always intrigued me. My budget would is roughly $75k or less.
What are your thoughts and experiences? What should I be considering? Reliability, maintenance, depreciation, insurance, driving experience, community, ... ?
Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked several times but j was wondering if anyone had any insight, experience, or tips/tricks when looking at a 2008 4.3 V8 Vantage? I'm looking at a few at the moment, specifically sportshift, (no manuals available in my market right now 😫) and was wondering if anyone has any insight on the ownership experience, or could direct me to a previous post that highlights everything. Any contribution is greatly appreciated!
This is my father’s V8 Vantage and im lucky enough to be experiencing it. Currently as its a SS2, the exhaust opens after 4500-5000 rpm. I pulled the Fuse 22 but can’t hear the engine at low rpms. What upgrades should i get to make the engine more audible?
Can’t get enough of this car. Still trying to learn the ropes of driving such a beast of a car but loving every minute of it.
Please share tips and tricks to shift up and down without the gearbox jerking badly. Also tips to keep my clutch safe.
Imagine hypothetically if you could travel through time, and took a DB12 back to year 2000, would the car still start and be able to drive?
What about all the features like auto stop and start, sat nav, parking sensors, collision avoidance, Lane assist?
I’m considering buying a 2019 Vantage under 30k mi.
What are the issues to look out for? Major cost issues? Options that are good / bad?
Coming from the world of E9x M3 where there is a list of catastrophic issues. Is this car as good as it seems? What does regular maintenance look like?
