What is your favourite game series, the one that you learned everything you possibly could about
For me it's Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid and Subnautica
I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety the past few months and needed a truly chill game. People online recommended Dorfromantik as a super chill game. When I started playing it, I realized that it was not calming for me at all. I wanted to keep the game going, so doing quests was important, but the thing is, not getting matched sides triggered me (it's a game that the gives you pieces of six sides to place in a map, and each side has a type of environment, like forest, houses, fields, river...). But it is unavoidable to place unmatched edges and I found myself thinking "it doesn't make sense to have an isolated house in the middle of nowhere" or "this isn't a river, it's not continuous". It was frustrating. The main goal of the game is to place as many matched sides as possible, so it's in accordance with reality, but thinking too much about that stresses me out.
Then, at some point, I started to make stories about why things don't make sense, like "this is an isolated house, this guy must be fed up with people" lol, "a house next to a field at the edge of a forest? This person cut down the forest to farm", "a single piece of isolated water? it's a swamp!".
This allowed me to enjoy the game, to be able to focus on doing quests and expanding the map, without being bothered by mismatched edges when they happen.
What games have you adjusted your mindset about to enjoy them?
Games with limited storage capacity force me to choose between items and I find this anxiety-inducing. Good examples are DayZ and Subnautica. Usually I hoard like crazy in games like Skyrim, Diablo IV, or Witcher 3. The collecting/exploring aspect is enjoyable but it turns into a compulsion. I never know what I'm going to need later so I pick up and keep everything I see.
Then there's the other end of the spectrum (no pun intended). I really enjoy the massive inventory system in No Man's Sky. In addition to the hundreds of items that can be collected/crafted, the vast storage lets me organize and arrange it all. "Fun" may not be the best word to describe it, but I definitely enjoy that process.
I don't know if this is the right subreddit for this but I figured I'd try anyways.
I'm 20 and have no real friends, so I decided to finally start by finding other autistic people like me. I love playing sandbox games like gta, 7 days to die, trailmakers, etc as well as sim driving/racing games. I own a PS5, PC, and Switch.
Hi r/aspiegaming,
we are Victor and Niklas, two residents in adult psychiatry from Belgium. We are conducting an interview study concerning people with autism over the age of 25 and (worrying) gaming behavior . We conduct interviews that will last between approximately 30 minutes and maximum up to three hours. The interviews will take place using Microsoft teams . Currently there are no studies in this population, so any information we can gather could be useful for future diagnosis and treatment.
We are still looking for people who are willing to be interviewed for this study.
Do you qualify for this or do you know someone who would qualify, please contact either of us! This can be done on our kuleuven emails: victor.jaecques@student.kuleuven.be and niklas.vanhulle@student.kuleuven.be or on this reddit account.
The criteria to participate are:
• Diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder
• be 25 years older
• Experiencing difficulties with gaming (your own assessment is sufficient for this). The main criterion is that you or people around you are concerned
Any suggestions for the study our where we could find candidates online would also be greatly appreciated!
Hi there! I 29 f am in a committed relationship with my 34 m fiancé. While he is my absolute best friend, we don’t share many common interests, including our gaming styles. After having our child 2 years ago, he was inevitably forced to cut back on the amount of time he plays video games. With that being said, he lost a majority of his friends due to them all being online. He’s tried his best to keep up with them, but none of them seem to even be interested in replying if he’s not getting on the game. The only people he gets to talk to about gaming recently are a few of his coworkers that are about 10 years younger than him, and look at him like he’s their grandpa. lol
ANYWAYS, I know this may be kinda weird to ask, but would anyone be interested in befriending my fiancé? 🥹🫶🏼
I have a few requirements, while not necessary, may be essential to the relationship.
1.) Must either be autistic or know how to speak/get along with his spectrum. He is high functioning and has a great personality, but most people think he comes off as mean/lacking empathy. He doesn’t understand social queues as much as the next person, but he’s also good at cracking jokes.
2.) He is not religious and loses friends often over not wanting to be converted.
3.)preferably be in your 30s so he doesn’t have to feel like your grandpa 🤪
4.)his favorite PS5 video games to play/talk about : Elden Ring, Helldivers, madden/college football games, Valorant, honestly he just loves all kinds of video games.
5.) enjoys talking about football, he knows all the people that football 🙄🤣
6.) enjoys talking about deep shit, such as beliefs, morals, and the WHY behind them.
Anyways, I could keep going, but these are what I would say would be his favorite qualities in a bestie. 🤣 Anyone down???? 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
The 40 games are:
On a percent, how would you rate this collection and what would be your top 5 picks and least favorites?
I’m looking for PS4 PS 5 I play a lot of games. I am open for new games when I can.if your interested add me at cuteness23flemig
I am interested in playing Helldivers 2, but I am worried about jumping in cold. Is there anyone here who would be willing to play with me?
Would be sweet ^^
I used to play Disidia opera omnia FF but they killed the project. I tried star trek for a while but I'm not really impressed. My phone isn't really powerful enough to run diablo immortal smoothly, I run into issues. What games to you play ?
I'm generally a main series player, but I play Pokémon Unite & Go with friends & family sometimes. Some of my favorite types of info are from Smogon/VGC history. The way a Pokémon's viability shifts between or even within a generation is fascinating, as well as how they work in different formats, such as Houndstone's Last Respects being broken in Smogon singles and Farigaraf's Armor Tail ability being consistently valuable in VGC, while neither sees much play in the other.
Hello everyone!
My girlfriend (28F) and I (33F) are looking for new friends to play video games with! I have autism and ADHD, and we strongly suspect that she has autism, too, either way we've both noticed that we tend to get along with girls on the spectrum the best, hence this post!
We’re on console and we play mainly CoD: Warzone (Resurgence) and Overwatch, sometimes also Deep Rock Galactic. I live in Poland and we play late evenings (9 pm - 1 am or so).
If you're interested, let us know and let's play soon!
I would really like to play in co-op (Xbox) for once but I have nobody to play with. Rn I mainly play ark and balders gate 3 but I have other games too (around 40 bought games, plus Xbox gold), so playing something else wouldn't be a problem.
Does anybody want to play with me?
For me, it’s easily Breath of the Wild. I feel like I’m still chasing finding a game that feels similar (RPG, beautiful scenery, great combat and fun whimsical elements) but nothing comes close.
Some special mentions are: Baldur’s Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Link’s Awakening, Stardew Valley, Elder Scrolls, and Assassin’s Creed (I’ve only played odyssey).
Posting here because I don’t have friends who can relate on this topic, but I’m SO excited for the new Legend of Zelda game that Nintendo announced at the most recent Nintendo direct.
Finally we will be able to play as Zelda herself as the story’s lead!!
Anyone else excited about this announcement?
ive always sucked at making friends. . . shocking, right?
so i thought i would try and see if asking here would maybe be easier?
my most played games are Vintage Story, The Finals, Hunt Showdown, and Halo, that being said i have many other games i own and play less often but still enjoy!
the least common games i play/like are RPG's so high chance i dont play that, sorry.
other off-topic hobbies i do are airsoft and "making"
airsoft is more limited as a relatable hobby as it requires people to be Local, but if you are local to me and want to play im down!! I'm in the USA, Northeast of PA, in between Scranton and Allentown!
i still dont know how to refer to "making" lol what i mean by "making" is im a maker, i like to make things, primarily in the 3D printing and electronics space. A few projects im working on are a custom Joystick for StarCitzen, a custom Halo helmet that i can wear out airsofting, and many many airsoft parts.
Like the title said i used to play alot of Dota 2 especially one hero (Invoker) but since they changed alot about the hero and he isnt a spellcaster and more a physical dmg carry (or lets say you have to play him like that to win) i really dont enjoy the game anymore. it was my mostplayed hero by a lot. i think around 50% of the games i ever played where whit invoker. That game and that hero was my safespace and a way to calm down for so many years but now i even when i think about playing dota i get stressed and it feels awfull but also silly to get so upset by this.
Hello, I noticed this subreddit had become inactive a few days ago and needed new moderation. So, I requested to take it over, and it was just approved! I have made some updates and changes to keep this alive and more active. And while this subreddit is geared towards those who are on the Autism spectrum, anyone is welcome! I have also completely revamped the rules, so please take a moment to review them. And feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions.
Here's a little about me: My online name is Trilogy, and I am 20 years old and live in the United States. My favorite games to play are Beam.NG Drive, Sims 4, Cities Skylines II, Roblox, and Minecraft. Besides that, I avidly love all things tech, especially phones, computers, and cellular technologies. I am so excited to be part of this community and its bright future!
I’m seeing people on YouTube complaining about modern gaming and the PS5. One guy who even says that “gaming is dead”. I’m sad to hear people say this, but I feel completely differently. Because I’m enjoying gaming now at age 35 more than I ever did before.
When I was a kid, games were pretty scarce. My parents would buy me maybe 1 or 2 games a year. 3 at most. And I didn’t always pick the best games and I got stuck with some stinkers, like Sonic Spinball.
Back in those days we could rent games from Blockbuster. That was cool, I got to try some different things, but I was never able to go deep and finish anything.
I had a Sega Genesis, and most of the games were so hard for me I never got anywhere.
My dad had a PC that I was able to play games on, but it was always severely underpowered for games. When Baldur’s Gate 1 came out in 1998, I desperately wanted to play it but our pc couldn’t handle it. It just crashed all the time and ran out of memory.
So although I have fond memories of gaming as a kid, it mostly sucked, and I never had the accomplishment of finishing a game.
Then I got diagnosed with OCD and depression and my mental health went to hell. My mental health ruined gaming for me for years.
Today my mental health is much better thanks to medication and therapy, and I have a good enough job that allows me to buy games whenever I want. I have an awesome gaming pc and a steam deck.
Everyone says that modern gaming sucks, but I’m still catching up on all the games I never finished as a kid, and on games I missed out on because my mental health stole gaming from me.
I have a list of 500 games that is my backlog. I play about 15-20 games a year at most so it will take me decades to finish my backlog.
When I was a teenager playing on original Xbox and Xbox 360, I usually played on easy mode. I was super tired of games being intensely hard on Sega Genesis. However, I got bored of playing on easy mode. Recently I discovered I LOVE going back to my favourite games and replaying them on HARD. Now I’ve even started playing NEW games on hard from the start.
Hey there!!
I'm launching my neurodivergent-only Minecraft Realm in about a week & would love to have more aspies come play!!
The theme is Shipwrecked! on a semi-vanilla Bedrock server. (We only added non-aggressive sharks, so it's a very vanilla experience.) So far, the community is only about 30 people large, with about 5 active players, so there's lots of room for you and your friends!
We've also got a dedicated Discord server, too, so you can get to know the other players better or just hang out when you can't play.
If this sounds like something you'd like to be apart of, comment below or DM me for the link!!
Please read all options before voting.
Personally, most of my gaming goes into the Souls games. Bloodborne's my favorite, and it's definitely in my top five games of all time.
It has occurred to me that playing an online game may be a good setting for improving that evasive art of real-time communication with other human beings. I offer restraint from unnecessary judgements and maybe even some dose of empathy, as a fellow castaway on this bizzare alien planet. I do wish for this to be a safe and growth oriented experience. We could meet for a game once or twice a week, mostly practice communication, maybe vent some on occasion or even stay silent when the going is tough. I know how it is.
My requirements are only that you are an adult, own a headset with a decent mic and that we can agree on rules of cooperation that are satisfactory for both of us. Message me if you feel interested.
The game which we use for this is subject to negotiation, but I thought we could try "Helldivers 2". Not only because it is greatly overhyped, but also because it encourages player coordination, it makes sense to play in both long and short seesions and it seems to have a solid gameplay design.
My other parameters for those who find them relevant: Male, 39, ASD level 1 (barely) English (subjectively) decent but non-native Time zone: CET, platform: PC
I’m 35 and I started on PC. My dad had a PC with windows 3.0 or 3.1 and he sometimes played solitaire and minesweeper. When I was like 3 I would just sit beside him and watch him play solitaire. Then one day he took me to the computer store and I realized there were more games than solitaire and Minesweeper! I remember there was a demo pc set up that was demoing Star Wars dark forces and that blew my mind!
Then my cousin introduced me to Sega Genesis, and that was my first experience with console gaming. My first game was on PC, but the Genesis was the first system that was MINE.
I’m a autistic player on ps4 ps5
Is anyone looking for friends that don’t mind playing with silence at time if your interested my psn is cuteness23flemig I’m in Pennsylvania time zone
