I just started getting into running and was wondering if the Ride 16s are any good? I've talked to my friend about them and he told me the durability of the soles aren't very good.
Hi there,
Just went through some stats I compiled on my latest marathon and thought some might found it informative if I was to share this here.
So the picture is rather explicit, basically every pair of shoes I used during my 15 weeks plan for Berlin 2024, as you can see I don't have any special preferred brand, I've been loyal to a few lines of shoes these last few years Namely the Floatride Energy, all first four iterations, the Novablast with 3 iterations (1,3 and currently 4) and alternating with the Invincible (1 and 3), the Rebel more recently with 2,3 and 4 coming, and the Vaporfly for road racing usually.
Still open to trying new stuff occasionnaly and I got the Adios Pro 2 for next to nothing (75€) and loved them on intervals and long runs during this plan.
I was wondering if there's any major differences between these shoes because I done the brooks shoe finder thingy and it recommended me the Beast 24s but the 23s are on sale at the moment, I also done the ASICS shoe finder test/quiz and it recommended the Kayano 31s. If anyone has tried all of these shoes please tell me which one was the best for over pronation and maintaining knee and foot health
I’ve heard great things about the new Zoomfly 6. Before this came out to good reviews, I was in the Mach X2 camp. I like the previous Mach X but it could use a little more cushioning for me. I am also a fan of zoom x and Invincible 3’s. I’m now leaning toward ZF6. (Note: I tend to not have issues with heel collars so I am ignoring that issue for the time being.) I’m 170 lb, 5’10 primarily mid-foot striker (at least I think I am). Can anyone change my mind back to the Mach X2?
Had these novablast 4 for less than 2 weeks and wear them strictly in a work setting where I work in a school. Has to be less than 50 miles
Should this be covered under warranty. I’ve started a claim but was just wondering if anyone had this same issues
Hey guys, I’m not sure why but there’s this men’s aqua color for the new Novablast 5 that’s only in select stores/websites, and specifically not in the asics website line up.
In fact, it was in Fleet Feet”s website (completely sold out), but was removed today literally just a few min/hours ago!
Never seen this before, I wonder if it’s a later release color or something? But it’s still actually purchasable like the picture above at public lands.com. Just thought this was interesting. Any ideas what’s going on?
Wondering what brands have the highest arch without going custom.
About a year ago I got my first pair of insoles, complete game changer for shoes as well as boots. Among other benefits, all of a sudden my foot wasn't collapsing in which meant that my ankle bones actually lines with the indents in my various pairs of boots. The sides of my feet didn't hurt from being pushed out, etc., etc.
I'm currently using Currex Blue insoles which work for most things, but I would like to try something that is just a smidge higher if possible.
Does anyone have recommendation for something even higher than Currex Blues?
I adore my Altra Lone Peaks for trail running/hiking. Can anyone recommend an equivalent feel road shoe? I don't have any good running stores near me, and am hoping to avoid ordering a bunch of options and needing to return them. Brooks stopped making my favorite road shoes a year or two ago.
have been hearing that the Novablast 5 is suitable for a range of purposes including long runs but they never mention how long a distance the run is.
for those who already have the new NB5, for a non elite amateur runner who just aims to complete the marathon in 5 hours, is the Novablast 5 suitable?
thank you.
I’m trying to get into running and since I was a kid I’ve had problems with shin splits. It’s so painful when running. I have wide flat feet and my feet turn inward so they’re not good along with me being a bigger muscular guy so I’m heavier
I’ve tried many shoes but nothing is good. Any recommendations for one that keeps me balanced, gives support but also feedback and would help my case and maybe strengthen my feet? Thanks
Seeing some deals on these and considering trying them out. I wear a 10 in the vaporfly/alphafly (and also Tempo). Streakfly was pretty comfortable in 9.5 but others feel tight. Should I go for 9.5 in ultrafly or 10? Don't want to be swimming in a trail shoe, but also would hate them to be too tight.
I wonder if the only difference is the colour design and the added outer Y3 tag
Long time runner and lover of ASICS - specifically Novablast 3 and 4 and Superblast 1 and 2.
However, I have access to an employee discount over at New Balance and want to take advantage. What are the most comparable models to the Novablast and the Superblast?
From what I've read, it seems like the 1080's might be a bit soft from what I like, so I'm leaning towards the 880s or FuelCell Rebel v4s. Open to it all!
Context: Gearing up for Boston where I ran 2:40 and primarily did all my training in ASICS other than speed sessions which I use alphaflys for, training 65-75mpw, daily run at 7:30 - 8:00 min/mile and I weigh about 165-170lbs.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
In the states, are there any websites that don’t require printing new labels? Just taking it to a UPS or FedEx and they handle it all?
These are both new shoes I believe so I’m hoping someone can tell me which would be best for me. I run 7 miles at most but I want to start running even more and hopefully be able to run half a marathon soon so I really need a good pair of shoes!
I don’t focus too much on my pace since I’m focused on increasing my miles but I believe it is around 9:30-9:40min/mi.
By the way, I’ve never invested in a good pair of running shoes before so these would be my first!
Hey guys.
Trying to put together my list for SS.
We have a $60 limit this year and i wanted to put acouple pairs of shoes on my list.
If you could recommend me some comfortable mens shoes for running/jogging in that price range.
im a heel striker btw.
Thank you
I wear size 14 shoes, but the store size 15 NB More v4 for $50 so I had to buy them. Are there any inherent risks or worries to running in a shoe that is 1 size too large?
This has been asked historically but not sure if it's changed for the AF3s - Nike is sold out for men's AF3s in my size, but if I look at women's they have my size - anyone know if there's any difference? All the stats appear the same.
Hello,
I’ve just gotten the Cloud 5s for walking mostly.
When trying them on I realised they are tight on the sides. Seems to happen a quite a bit from the reviews online.
I’m considering returning them but thought I’d ask, do you think the shoe will expand with time thus solving the issue? I really like how they look 😭
Thank you
Looking for some information please regarding the sizing of the superblast 2, I’m a uk 12 in every other shoe but my novablast 4 was huge so I sized down to 11.5, how does the superblast 2 compare?
Hello guys. Im looking for new shoe for Gym and daily walking/ light running. Im willing to spend around 180$ and i currently saw the nike Pegasus plus and Vomero 17, are these good options? If not, i looking for another options (dont has to be Nike but preffered. Thanks in advance!
What is a better shoe for shorter, faster runs under 5km? My workouts are:
I am not an extremely seasoned runner and I have been forced to retire my Ride 16 (outsole peeled after 100km wth??) my gaits analysis says I should use stability shoes, but I found them all too stiff and liked neutral shoes better as they feel better. FYI i like bouncier shoes if that helps; other recommendations are welcome too.
There is also a discount for the wave rider 27 (2E) for $50 cheaper than the wave rider 28.
Side question: Is the 2E versions worth it? I prefer slightly roomier toeboxes but I heard that 2E is often just extra material on the upper — is that going to help?
Are the Novablast 4/5 as large as the Superblast 1/2?
By "large," I’m referring to the actual size of the shoe, not the fit or sizing. I own the Superblast, but I find it too big and clunky. It feels about 1/4 larger compared to other shoes I own, even though they’re the same size.
My question is whether the Novablast is built similarly. If that’s the case, I’ll look into other daily trainers instead..
Thanks!
Both are on sale for $99. I’m really just looking for shoes to add into my rotation because I run 50ish mpw and currently am just running with the Mach 6s. I’d be interested in buying a speedier shoe and another daily trainer to just be able to handle easy miles because I feel like the Machs won’t last me terribly long, and I also don’t love them for runs over HM distance. Are either of these worth a buy?? I’ve previously trained in and liked the Boston 12s, I ran in the novablasts and they were ok to me. I’m not very picky with my shoes and have liked most I’ve run in, I’m 5’5 and 125lbs so don’t need anything extremely cushioned though I have liked shoes like the Saucony Triumph 21s
Hey guys, I've been looking for shoes go train in and run my first marathon in. I really like the boston 12s but I don't think they are for me, I tried 42 size and they were too snug in the middle and I think a little short ( I would hit my toes if I ran I feel like ) so I got 42 2/3 and I think they are too long. I don't wanna do a test run since it would damage the shoe and I wouldn't be able to return them. I can fit a whole finger behind my heel and I feel my heel slipping a bit when I move ( I don't know if that is because of my socks or shoes ).
Also I would like to ask about the rebel v4s new balance, they are on sale also 42.5 size. I like the shoes I was thinking of ordering them to try them. What do you guys think?
Thank you!
I am successfully recovering from some achilles tendinopathy, and have a marathon in April (going for sub 3) that I'd like to get some carbon plated shoes for. I'd like some shoe recs that would be less likely to aggravate my achilles. I also have a bit of a spur around my achilles which means I should avoid shoes with a stiff heel cup. I currently am running in Saucony Triumph 21s for easy runs which have been great. I'd like some suggestions for the below
Finally concluded that my novablast 4 gave me left knee pain. Used it for about 50km that's when the pain started to come.
I've gone back to my old pair of shoes ASICS Gel Jolt. The shoes is less "spongy". I'm about 80kg if that matters.
Can anyone recommend me a shoe with a low heel drop and not so spongy/soft base?
The ASICS jolt is alright but it's a tad bit too firm on the base.. and I'm due for a new pair of shoes.
Thank you
I’m running my first half marathon in a month and a half and I’m looking for a new running shoe that I can continue my training in and use for the race.
For context I am a beginner. I run about 60-90 minutes a day 4 times a week. 30ish miles on average (slow). Most of my runs are easy but I do make sure I do strides because I want to be faster. I expect to finish my half in 2:30
My favorite shoes have been brooks glycerin 18 (retired) and my current shoe the Asics gel-excite 9 however both shoes seemed not be great as I began increasing my miles in a single run. I hated the Adidas Adistar CS, knees hurt everytime I wore them.
