Seeking men's zero drop shoe with arch support for overpronation

Hello! I have a zero drop I really like ... the Altra Provision 3.5. i want something with a lower profile and less cushion that still corrects my pronation. I'll also be using this for cross training. Are there any brands and models that come to mind?

Advice needed my

Hi guys, i need some advice. Last year i started running for the first time in a long time with the goal to do a half marathon. I was training using the Asics Gel Nimbus 25 and was using an app for the training distances. Everything was good until the day i had to do 13km with was after roughly two months into the training and after finishing it my muscles in Front below my knee were hurting and i had to stop the training for two weeks coz of the pain i was feeling there on day to day. I have to mention that i didnt do any strength training on that time and my weight was around 100kg and 184cm tall. Now i want to get back to running and wanna know should i get a full foam running shoe or one with energy rods like the adidas evo pro 4s. I wanna note that atm i wanna start running easily without setting goals for the short future but also dont wanna use a shoe that may hurt my knees or muscles.

Thank you in advance

Superblast 2 sizing

Hi im looking for a good long run shoe and seems like Superblast is highly suggested

For reference im an 8.5 3E.

I wear 8.5 2e on NB 1080v13, and size 9 (2E) on Novablast 5 and Boston 12 (2E). I wear size 9.5 on Zoom Fly 6

I also wear size 9 on kayano 14 but its on a snugger fit if that helps.

I don’t know whether if I should half size up to 9 or full size up to 9.5 because there is no wide option for Superblasts

Or do you guys have other suggestions for a good long run shoe that is wide foot friendly

Stable/stable neutral shoe for long runs and marathon race?

I've been running for a couple of years now. When I got fitted for my first pair of running shoes, the local running shop steered me towards stability shoes, and I ended up going with Brooks Adrenaline. I know right?

Once I was hitting 5-6 miles, I noticed I could really feel the posting/guide rails which was unpleasant. I also started reading more about running shoes and saw that stability shoes are heavily over recommended. So I switched to neutral shoes, Saucony Ride 15 and Triumph 20/21. Have put lots of miles and a couple half marathons in those, no problems/injuries, over close to 2 years.

I'm now training for a marathon and I've come to realize I have pretty flat feet. I'm up to 16 mile long runs and feel like my flat feet are resulting in some over pronation, causing soreness/tenderness on my inner ankles after a long run. I'm working on some mobility and strengthening but also think some mild shoe stability could help

I've also found some shoe reviewers with similar issues; flat feet causing them to struggle with traditional stability features in shoes, but still needing some degree of stability

It looks like stable neutral shoes, or even some stability shoes with more mild guidance, might be a good fit for me, instead of some of the more aggressive correctiveness

I'm looking for something to wear for long runs that would also be suitable for the marathon itself. Long runs around 10 min/mile, and targeting a sub 4 marathon, so about 9 min/mile - no need for a super speedy shoe here

So, I'm planning to try on the following, curious to see if there are other options I should consider, or for folks with similar foot issues, what has worked for you

Hoka Arahi Puma Forever Run Asics Superblast - have seen these aren't great at slower paces? Puma Magamax Nitro Hoka Clifton Saucony Hurricane 24 Asics Kayano 31

I have tried on the Saucony Tempus but the arch support felt way too prominent, and not sure how well it would break in

Novablast 5 losing bounce after 200 miles

I am 25M, 6 ft, 190lbs, easy pace 6:15-6:35, faster pace 5:25-5:45 per km, midfoot striker, running only on asphalt/concrete

I started running late october last year, used my Pegasus trail 4 GTX for the first 140ish kms, then bought the Novablast 5 end of November

I have been running in them since, and after reaching the 300km mark, they feel a lot firmer, flatter, and on todays 10K run my feet and ankle were in pain

Can it be that my Novablasts lost their bounce only after 200 miles? I know I’m heavier than most runners, but still feels too fast to wear out

Happy to read your thoughts on this!

Adidas Takumi 10, adios 9 or something else?

Hi there!

I'm looking for a fast shoe to do 5k/10k races and intervals. I was only able to try the Adios 9 and the upper fits nicely but with either option I'm a bit worried about my ankles (lots of injuries from tennis and very unstable).

Which option would be a little more stable? I ask about Adidas cause I have some money to spend in their store but other brand options are very welcome as well.

Thanks very much!

Nike Alphafly 3’s

Hi all!

I (M26) recently got the Nike Alphafly 3's gifted from my parents. This because I had talked about carbon plate shoes to them and they wanted to surprise me with these and motivate me even more for my races (4 HM this year). I think it is great of them to give me this as a gift, but I am quite unsure about wearing the shoes. This especially since my race pace is only around 6:15/km.

When I look around on the internet I see a lot of people saying that this shoe is anything but good for the “slower” runners, but then again I see other people (or for example on youtube) saying that even the “slower” runners can definitely use this shoe.

Maybe my problem is also that I care a bit too much about other people's opinions...?

Still, I'd love to hear from the experienced community 🙂

1st Marathon Shoe Advice

Hey guys! I’ve got my 1st Marathon in April and I’m looking for some recommendations for long distance trainers. I’ve done a couple 1/2 maras in my Cloudmonsters 2 and love them.

My other question is that I’m quite a big guy, I’m 6ft4 105kg (played rugby all my life). Should I take this into account for selecting the right trainers? All does that not really matter?

Thanks in advance

Prime X 2 Strung or Adios Pro 3 for aspiring heavy HM runner?

I'm a 93KG 189cm 10K runner (around 5'50"/km pace) running with Invincible 3, looking to work towards a half-marathon. With Adios Pro 4 out, I'm busy looking/waiting for Adios Pro 3 to go on sale as my new race shoes, but I also noticed Prime X 2 Strung on fairly deep sale locally, would that be a better option/value for me despite the higher price tag or should I stick with waiting out Adios Pro 3? Invincible 3 does the job, but it mostly bottoms out half way through a 10K, so I'm hoping for something that can hold its bounciness a bit longer.

Stable carbon shoe for tempo / runs?

Hi all,

I’m looking for a trainer which is do it all and is light and stable (carbon preferably) for mostly tempo and long run efforts. I’ve currently got Novablast 5 for recovery / daily and slow long runs, 2x Sky Paris, one of which gets used for tempo efforts and other for racing, Boston 12 for tempo / long runs and also AP4 for races. The Boston 12 is good for tempo but sometimes feels too heavy, so looking for something else.

I’m looking for an addition which can take long run efforts, stable, light and is fast. I’ve been thinking about the Nitro Elite 3. I did want Evo SL but for 30 more I can get Nitro Elite 3. Good idea or any other suggestions!

Thanks

ON shoes for walking

Hi all! So I bought a pair of On Cloud surfers, mostly for city walking when traveling, as well as for going on walks around my neighborhood. I LOVED them, super comfy and cute.

However, they started to squeak, which my husband and I finally discovered is just an issue with those shoes. He bought his at REI so they let him return them, and I bought mine at Dicks so I had to fill out a warranty claim with On and they just approved me for a gift card to get new shoes.

I want to make sure I avoid any squeaking shoes. But the gift card is only for On’s website. Are there any shoes that you all recommended for walking that I can replace my current cloud surfers with? Thanks in advance!

Wide feet shoe recommendations please!

Hello! I’ve recently decided I need a new pair of running shoes, as I can’t continue to train in the ones I have anymore.

For context - I’m training for a half marathon, and I only ever run on the road or on a track. I over pronate, have wide feet and a lower arch. I’ve been to a running shop, that’s the only information they have and let me know it was a case of trial and error, which sounds like an expensive way to try and find a good fit for me so I’m hoping to get some direction on where to start!

I have tried:

Brookes Adrenaline- really liked these for short runs! But anything longer than 5/6k I got foot pain and terrible blisters along my arch, so not a good fit for my current training.

ASICS kayano - Terrible blisters, ankle and leg pain, from the moment I first tried them I got cramps in the arch of my feet. I just didn’t get on with these at all and the experience has been enough to put me off ASICS altogether🤣

Can anyone recommend some trainers that I need to take a look at please? I’ve read men’s trainers might be better for the width and I’m not adverse to wearing men’s ones, I just don’t know where to start!

Topo Athletic Sizing - Magnifly 5 or Fli-Lyte 5

If anyone has experience with the Magnifly 5 and/or Fli-Lyte 5, how did you size it? And if you have other Topo Athletic models, how do they compare in fit(length/width in toebox)?

I have been using a few Topo Athletic shoes in size 12, and most of them run TTS. That is mainly for the trail models. For the two road shoes I own, the Cyclone and ST-5, the sizing is a bit smaller. Cyclone fits pretty good TTS, but the ST-5 is almost a half or full size smaller in fit compared to trail runners.

Looking for a New Daily Trainer

I’m in the market for a new pair of shoes but I don’t want them to just be used for running. Ideally I’d like to wear them casually all day and be able to run in them at the gym after a workout and also just have a good pair of walking shoes. Currently I wear NB 990v6’s and they’re great for the day but when I get to the gym I can’t really do any cardio in them.

Right now I run in Endorphin speed 4s and NB supercomp trainer 2s. I also have a pair of Boston 12s but I don’t love them. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Novablast 5 vs Neo Zen

It's been a few years since I ran. I've lost a bunch of weight and am ready to get back at it - but I'm kind of overwhelmed by the high stack foam revolution.

I'm starting with a 5k then will probably be in the 10k range. I went and got "fitted" and came away with some Mizuno Neo Zen, which I say feel pretty weird with the bounce, but I'm having doubts and looking at some alternatives, specifically the Novablast 5.

Would that be a better "starter" foam shoe? I'm looking for something that is a good shoe for all types of runs as I get back going.

Looking for shoes that have good support

Looking for shoes for women that have support for overpronation. We checked out the following and ASICS seemed to better. New Balance felt stiffer. What other options are there in the same price range?

ASICS GT 2000 13 New Balance 860 New Balance 880

If I loved the Brooks Glycerin GTS 20s and GTS 21s, is it safe to just purchase the GTS 22's?

I got fitted for running shoes around this time last year and purchased the Brooks Glycerin GTS 20s, which I loved! After a break due to health reasons, I got the GTS 21s and loved those as well. Now that I'm building mileage again, I’m looking to buy another pair to alternate and extend the life of my shoes. Would it be okay to go ahead with the GTS 22s, given I’ve liked the previous two versions?

Proper shoe fit?

I recently purchased my first pair of shoes for walking/hiking trails as we plan to visit some National Parks and do some easy trails and hikes and are camping more now that we are retired. I went to a shoe store where they did all the tests to see what shoes would be best for me. I have a high arch and really wanted shoes that felt very cushy but not clunky and awkward. For reference I tried on Hokas and I didn't like the feel. I ended up buying Brooks Ghost. I have had them for 3 weeks and been out walking several times on trails in the park. I know it takes time to break in new shoes, but the next day my ankles hurt so much. Also, when I am walking up and down steps I feel like the shoes are awkward and I have almost tripped on them a few times. All of my shoes are a size 8.5. They fitted me for a size 10. I am really questioning if that is the right fit. My daughter and two sisters all wear a size 9 and tried them on and said they were way too big for them. I am taking them back this week for a replacement. Any suggestions for other brands? Anything else I need to tell the shoe salesperson? I swear my Skechers were so much better. I am disappointed in buying me first pair of walking shoes and expected more.

Looking for shoe advice

Hello all- new this this sub and looking forward to seeing what advice I can get.

I am a longtime runner - mostly race ultra, sometimes marathons. My daily trainer since 2020 has been the Hoka Clifton. I am ready to move on from the Clifton for my easy/junk miles runs. Recently, wearing the Clifton 9, I have developed some tendinitis in my Achilles that seems to resolve when I put on my trail shoes (hoka speedgoat 4’s). I am unsure if the Clifton is the cause of the injury, but I want to try a few different brands and models regardless.

Helpful information:

  1. Mileage: 50-100mpw
  2. Forefoot runner
  3. Don’t really pronate
  4. Avg pace for junk miles: ~8-9 min/mile
  5. Surface for junk miles: paved road or unpaved road

Looking forward to any recs you all can provide. Thank you!

Good shoes for jumping jacks and rope with minimal running?

Hey everyone, need an advice from you shoe-masters: I recently joined a class where we do a lot of cardio and, given the hard floor, I don't enjoy long sessions of jump rope, jumping jacks, etc etc. Mainly due to trying to preserve my knees (boxing past made them a bit weak if I don't keep my lower body trained).

On those days I usually don't run or run very little, so I was wondering which shoes would be good for it.

My running shoes don't feel that great or stable for such cardio activities and I have no experience in gym shoes since when I squatted I would do it without shoes (honestly the best solution imho). Average boxing shoes look cool and feel great on skipping rope but are horrible long term imho.

Is it me that have to get used to the new exercises or there's a better option? Some people are recommending the Nano but they look a bit firm, idk the science behind jumping and such. Thanks

Novablast 5 sizing help

I ran 1.75 miles in a size 11 novablast 5. Fit felt ok walking with a little room in the toe. During the run they felt great but my toe was cramped a little. I sized up to a 11.5 did the same loop and instantly got fifth metatarsal pain on my left foot. Is there any reason for this? Anyone else have similar experience?
