Moving into center city soon and I have a kinda nice bike (very vintage Schwinn) that I like to take on bike trails on nice days. Does anyone know if there are places where I could pay to keep my bike locked up where it probably won’t be stolen?
Does anyone know where to get an emissions waiver at ? No one seems to do them anymore, and the old man on Kerlin street passed away. The license to my understanding is non-transferable and my car is older.
My buddy and I have been wanting to get a random tattoo together (prolly nothing more than 3-4” or so) and aren’t sure if there are any good places that would do day-of walk ins. We both have 4-5 a piece so I understand that we aren’t aiming for the cream of the crop, just someone who can do some basic line work with maybe a bit of shading that is sanitary and well-respected. Any ideas?
Asking for my young son, please.
I’m driving from Maryland to see a concert at the Met next week. I’m wondering what parking situation is like. I’ve never been to this venue before. Is there a garage near by? A lot? Prices reasonable? What do most people do? Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi, we moved into a townhouse a few months ago in Aramingo/Wedge area. We used to live in an apartment where there weren’t many kids, and last year, nobody came by asking for candy on Halloween.
This year, we have a lot of candy since I’m not sure what to expect. If you live in the area, how many kids would you say come by for candy?
Thank you!
Does anyone happen to know of any cell phone repair stores that Do FRP lock removal ? Thanks
Disclaimer: waiting to hear back from TURN
Here’s the short of it: broke lease 8 months early on my Philly townhome. New tenant was found in time so there was no lapse in rent payments and they are seeing through the rest of my lease and then some.
I inquired about my security deposit and just got a letter back stating he didn’t apply the early termination fee (equal to 1 month of rent).
The rest of the letter is an itemized list of charges incurred during his attempt to rerent the place ($1000+). According to the lease, I was responsible for giving 60 day notice, paying a termination fee, and paying rent until the end date/renewal term/a new person was found. There are also charges on here related to gardening/landscaping/sprucing up the outside of the place (ex: $100 for removing weeds from the yard), which I handled up until I left with the exception of 1 time I asked for his help because I sprained my ankle. Him/his son did that work, not a contractor. Seems like he also put the cleaning service he used after I left on my tab, too.
Thoughts, advice, perspective welcomed. TIA!
Hi all,
I just moved into a new amenity apartment building and am truly loving it! If anyone is in the market for a new place and want me to refer them to my building and split the ref. credit, PM me!
I’m attending the Cory Wong concert on Friday November 8th but I’ve never been to Philadelphia before so I have no SEPTA experience.
I’m coming from the Lancaster area and plan to get on at the Malvern regional rail station and take that to Suburban station. To get to The Met I plan on taking the orange line from City Hall to Girard, but the online pdf (https://schedules.septa.org/current/BSL.pdf) is confusing. It shows that City Hall and Girard are connected as express stops and the graphic shows they connect, but on the list of times it doesn’t appear that City Hall connects to Girard
The show should end around 10pm and I believe Girard won’t be operating at that time so I’ll have to walk to Cecil B. Moore and take that to Center City, then go to Suburban station back to Malvern
Thoughts or other ideas?
Any recommendations for seeing some local metal shows? Or metal venues
Where can I find marigolds? Either as cut stems or a potted plant? Bonus if in the northwest part of the city (Mt. Airy, Chestnut Hill, Roxborough).
Thank you!
Visiting Philly in two weeks with a significant other, no children. What museums do you recommend?
I have a question regarding the water bill; I moved to the city about two months ago. I live in a three-unit apartment building, and last month, my bill was $72. However, I just got an invoice from my landlord saying my water bill is now 100 dollars. I know from a previous post that there will be an increase in the water bill; however, does anybody know if the water bill is split evenly into three apartment units, or does each apartment have a water meter? I emailed my landlord and hope to hear from them soon. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated, as I am from the Midwest, and water is mainly included in the lease.
I'm interested in the location and amenities. Not sure I would find a house in my price range close to a subway entrance/quick access to Amtrak.
The Phoenix 1600 Arch Street looks like a nice building. It mentions that there is 'valet parking' - what does that even mean? If the building doesn't have a garage or parking lot, I assume there is nowhere to put your car and you'd need to rent a space somewhere. I cannot give up my car at the moment.
I have traveled on both SEPTA trains and buses. I have a preference for trains. Native Philly folks - if you could pick one to live near, would you prefer a bus or a train?
Thanks!
My husband and I are looking to move into the Ludlow neighborhood. We are looking around N Marshall and W Oxford . I’ve been in areas a few blocks down (3rd & berks/ Cecil B Moore and cousins supermarket area) but haven’t walked around the areas we are looking at now. Curious on hearing any feedback of others that live or know the area better. We are also considering renting a home in the Kensington area. There’s a couple around Cumberland & Jasper. Would you say Ludlow is slightly better than Kensington or vice versa? I know some cases are block by block and knowing which ones to avoid will be helpful! We are very home body and have 2 kids and a dog. Feeling safe inside and at least right outside walking to our cars is important to us.
Does anyone recommend any streets or areas in the city that are decorated for halloween? In or around the city would be appreciated. A single home or block. Thanks!
EDIT: We know that it’s barely within the city. We picked this place because BF’s job is in Havertown and moving here will allow him to keep his job!
Hi, my boyfriend and I are thinking about moving in together along with some friends (four of us total) and upon searching, this apartment seems to fit our needs, distance from boyfriends job, and cost! Only problem is there’s little to no reviews (the one review being from some girl who leaves a one star review on everything 🧍🏽♀️) so I’m hoping that someone who has some experience there can tell me about it!
What’s the area like, are the apartments quality and spacious, etc etc! Here’s the apartment we were thinking!

Hello!
I have moved back to the Philly area after a few years in Jacksonville, Florida. (Easy to see why I came back, lol). I am currently in Bucks, looking for a finance job in the area or the city. I have 8 years of financial experience in area such as back office settlements and clearing, corporate actions, and triparty collateral. Furthermore, four years I have worked with Bank of America/ Merrill Lynch and four years with Cantor Fitzgerald.
If anyone knows of anything, please let me know! ☺️
Hi everyone,
I am asking if there’s anything I can do about this. After I moved out, my landlord tried to charge me on this stain left by my crocs when I tried to glue it. He wanted to charge me to replace the whole bedroom vinyl floor, which is less than 200 sqft. I asked if it can be rubbed off or replaced individual tiles but he claimed that this is interlocked vinyl floor so it can only be replaced entirely. The replacement materials is $1300, and the labor cost is $1500, so instead of disputing the deposit, now I’m owning him money. I requested him to give me more information about this “unremovable chemical stain” (as what he wrote), and for the information on the material cost. He said he only disclose the invoice after I pay the balance or the repair, but he never really gave a deadline for the charge or insisted on it.
I have visited the Municipal Court to file a claim against him, but the interviewer told me this was a bit tricky since I shared the unit with 4 other people and the landlord made us pay as a whole. Therefore, he adviced me to look for an attorney to proceed.
I am a student highly dependent on my family financially so I would very much appreciate if anyone have an advice on what to do next, or any resources to find a free attorney. Thank you!
Like I said, inherited a bunch of long guns, other family members don't want them. I want to get rid of them all in one attempt, unsure of quality.
Does such thing exist? Me and my wife are wondering if it’s a thing in Philly.
It’s a thing in NYC (via Metro-North: Breakneck Ridge, Appalachian Trail, etc). But I think it’s only a thing because the railroad happens to pass through the mountains. The stations are barely more than a gazebo.
We are coming from the SF Bay Area to visit Philly during Late February, and we are wondering if it’s safe to take PATCO to City Hall Station and then walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge from there. We heard that Camden isn’t as safe. Thanks!
Moved here recently. I had a local russian store in VT, but since moving to philly, can’t find any salo, let alone meet a person who even knows what a salo is.
Where can i find this tasty yummy chewy salty proteiny fatty goodness??? And speaking of salo, GOOD GOOD rye bread with it!
Thank you!
I currently live in a more suburban area of the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) area and I’m thinking of moving to Philly.
I’m 29 year old woman - and I know no matter where I am my parents are gonna to worry about my safety.
What are some good neighborhoods to start looking at? Would prefer lower-crime rate and a more lively area with things to do.
(I work remotely so commute isn’t an issue but an area with some nice coffee shops or coworking spaces would be nice.)
Thanks
Edit: Price Range for an apartment: I currently pay a little over 2k a month a 1 bedroom apartment (utilities included in this) - so something under 2k (maybe like 1.5k?).
I have two large dogs (huskie and shepherd) I give the vaccines myself. I am going to have to leave town for a few days in February. I was just wondering if there are any good boarding options for my dogs? I have never boarded them before so I am completely unfamiliar with the available options, especially for dogs that are vaccinated outside of a vet's office. Thank you in advance.
I have a drone video transmitter that I need someone to remove a broken JST connector, and replace with soldered wires and a little female JST connector. Does anyone know someone who does surface mount component repair in town? Thanks!
