To anyone who has knowledge on DIM supplements!

I started taking DIM supplements about 17 days ago in hopes that it will help with reoccurring ovarian cysts (please don't judge me I have no insurance to cover birth control or anything else). I soaked through a pad within a few hours that would normally last all night or probably more. What does this mean?

EDIT: I forgot to mention I do not have PCOS

What would be the best element to stick in a tooth cavity?

I'm just wondering which element (vegetable or something else) would be the best for my tooth if it was stuck in its cavity. Something that may protect it before my operation and would'nt hurt too much? Thanks!

Face numbness (sort of)

Hi Reddit-land. Wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions for me on here. I'm 38, white, female, 185 lbs, 5'8", live in USA. I have intermittent numbness/tingling of sorts on the left side of my face and it's been off one on for almost a year now. I don't smoke, rarely drink, no drugs, I take a few for skin issues but this pre-dates those meds. It's most noticeable around my nose because I feel like my nose is cold/runny but it's not. If I tap on my face, I notice a difference between how both sides feel. The thing is, I was just on vacation for 11 days and it never popped up once. I'm wondering if it's some kind of allergy or food issue. I've had allergy tests and come up negative. I've done celiac testing, also negative. I used to have some major bloat issues with gluten/yeast but that's since resolved. I didn't eat my normal diet while I was out of town but I still had gluten/breads. Could it be something else, especially with a negative allergy test? I did the scratch test for the allergy test.

Thumb has been sprained for 4 months -- am I screwed?

About four months ago I was rock climbing and fell fifteen feet, rolling onto my thumb when I hit the ground. Since then, I've visited two different doctors who both told me to continue with my regular activities, no splint/brace required. I acquired an X-ray that showed there was no skeletal damage. However, since my thumb hasn't fully healed, I've recently visited a physiotherapist who advised me to do the complete opposite of what the doctors suggested -- that is, stop using my thumb and wear a brace/splint.

While the sensitivity to pain has subsided, it feels like healing plateaued. While it has full mobility, there is still pain when I do things that require me to press my thumb against something, and, when static, it is very stiff and uncomfortable. Concerningly, recently, this stiffness and discomfort has travelled into my lower palm and wrist.

Based on your personal experience and/or medical knowledge, have I let this problem go untreated for too long? Since the sprain is my right thumb and I'm right handed it has significantly impacted my life. My physiotherapist has advised me not to write, play my instruments, rock climb, play video games (with a controller), and much more. I am unable to do the activities I usually did for fun and relaxation, and I'm feeling quite depressed. I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether this will be permanent so I can come to terms with this injury and adapt.

Tourniquet for snake bite?

Could you use a tourniquet to prevent venom from spreading while waiting for rescue? Trying to streamline my backcountry first aid kit, thanks!

Am I not cut out for the medical field?

Not long ago, an instructor of mine in a high school cardiovascular class had a seizure in the middle of class. Two of us got up and got one of the other teachers who was a licensed nurse practitioner and I checked for a pulse since I didn't really know it was a seizure at the time before the other teacher came in. After the instructor was stabilized, I was outright told to my face that I was not cut out for the medical field since the career I am aiming for is that of a Trauma Surgeon, but I'm not exactly sure what I did wrong. It was my first time seeing someone collapse like that and she wasn't convulsing either.

Orthopedics vs. Interventional Radiology

So, if this isn’t really allowed here, please let me know! So, I’m currently a junior in high school, and I am trying to decide what profession to go into. Both of these topics seem interesting to me, but I was wondering which to decide to consider. Of course, I plan to keep thinking on it, but I was wondering if there were any people in here that would like to share any pros and cons, or even if the job is worth it. I like the idea of potentially doing surgeries in these fields, but not really sure what I’m asking here tbh. If anyone has any advice on these topics, I’d be happy to get any info!! On another note, I do understand that both of these require a lot of schooling, but I really wanted to know if it is worth the time, and if I can do anything in between to keep myself going.
