So this month's billing cycle, which I just got my bill for, was for 51.69, last year's bill for the same month cycle was 48.23. That's a $3.46 difference. There is only 1 kWh difference. Last year was 295 and this year was 296. In comparing the two bills the main difference seems to be in the distribution service charge, with this current bill's charge being over $3 more than last years charge. Did rates increase or did Dominion start tacking new charges on us?
I can't see how 1kWh justifies the bill being more than $3 during the same time period as last year's bill with almost identical power usage. Last years ESS is also $2.86 cheaper than this years, 29.01 vs 26.15. Surprising the fuel section this year is about $2 cheaper than last years. Don't see how generation and transmission costs have gone up.
Comparing last October's bill to this bill is confusing as they have been redesigned.
Hey everyone! I’m moving to Ashland soon for work at Randolph-Macon College and am looking for an affordable apartment or housing option. I’m in my early 20s, single, no pets, and I’d love something that’s neat, well-maintained, and close to the college.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
I’ve searched a few websites, but most of the listings are for 2+ bedroom apartments, and nothing really fit what I’m looking for. If anyone knows of anything available or has recommendations, I’d really appreciate the help! 😊
Thanks so much!
Looking at properties in Ashland and wanted to know what internet providers are in the area. Trying to avoid Xfinity others like them.
Please take this and pass it along to interested people. Ashland's AHA (Ashland Helping Ashland) program is set up to help you and others in Ashland get work done without costly investment in tools and resources. Here is the link https://www.ashlandva.gov/699/Ashland-Helping-Ashland-AHA
I think Cville has a similar program, would love to see more localities in our area take this on and run with it.
When does Hanover send out PPT bill for vehicles? Does Ashland double dip and send a bill too or is the only tax collected by Hanover?
I have a quick question for the Hanover/Ashland area. I need to make a decision quickly if I am going remain where I rent or if I need to move. I keep hearing that rents are starting to decrease but my landlord is raising rent for "market reasons", which I think is due to the incoming RMC class and need for student housing. I'd prefer to remain in the town of Ashland proper and under $1300/mo. A small, well trained elderly 15 lb doggo is also part of the family here. Other than normal rental agencies or land barons in the area is there anything out here?
Edit- corrected typo
This is like the third time in a week that Xfinity has gone out in town. Never had issues until they decided to start upgrading. Kinda hard to work from home when Comcast keeps crapping out. 🤬
My rant is over but I am still serious, with as much as they charge you'd think they can keep the service up.
Edit- restored. The outage map was unable to be accessed because of obviously the power being out and difficulties getting a cellular connection to work.
Do we know how wide spread the power outage is in Ashland? Live near Gandy off art 1 and powers been off nearly 30 min. Don’t see a map of outages in the area but app reports between 1-4 pm service restoration.
Is there anywhere to go for a night out dancing? I'm looking for the most club-like experience Ashland can offer for a group of 30-something women. I know Richmond isn't that far, but I want to know about Ashland. TYIA.
Anyone know what's causing the burning smell over the Ashland? Almost seems electrical in nature but something clearly is burning.
Every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Huddle Up (407 England Street) the wonderful Boot Scooters crew offers line dancing! Tuesdays they start at 6:15pm with instructional time and open goes from 7pm until 9pm. Thursdays they run from 7pm-9pm. No experience required! Completely free, just come on out and enjoy a fun evening with some wonderful folks.
I’ve been going over the past month and was surprised at how incredibly fun it can be - I wish I had heard about it sooner! 🤠
Just curious as I stumbled into the Secretariat hoedown on Saturday. Why is this such a big to do in Ashland when the horse was from Caroline Co and as best as I can tell he has nothing to do with Hanover except by being present in an adjacent county. The vibe it gives off is one of appropriation rather than appreciation. Why not have this in Bowling Green or Port Royal?
I removed two from signs near the train platform and one in front of Trackside. If anyone spots any more around town let me know and I'll be glad to help dispose of them.
other than the "planned upgrades" is anyone else experiencing outages this afternoon in Hanover/Ashland? Been a non stop issue all day despite them saying service was restored. Just got another SMS indicating another outage that they're trying to address.
