Control focus through temporarily shutdown of internet connectivity (Windows) with ipconfig.

Thought I'd share a self-discipline tactic: turn off internet connectivity with the MS Windows command "ipconfig /release". To turn it back on, use "ipconfig /renew", and it takes about 10-20 seconds to get it back on. This prevents internet distraction for me.

I try turning off the connection when I'm at high risk of distraction (such as pushing through a difficult task that I'd prefer procrastinate). Putting up an inconvenience barrier (through the time delay) tends to help me in the early phases of better habits. One could make the barrier more inconvenient through other things (deactivating the wireless connection, having a list of blocked-sites automatically written to the etc\hosts file once the internet connection is restored, etc.).

I'm no computer sysadmin wizard, but just thought I'd share a little something that's helped me.
