Critique Tips
Above all, be honest and forthcoming
Be specific, don't say "I like it!" say, "I like the way you...." and likewise for negative comments
Be Helpful, link to books, tutorials, or offer exercises for the artist
Don't refer to things as "good" or "bad," try to talk in terms of skill sets that can be worked on
A lot of us are visual thinkers, if you have a tablet copy+paste and make some notes
When receiving a critique, don't be too defensive, you can't explain away other peoples opinions of your art, try and listen to what they are saying

I'm going to use this drawing to make a new advertisement to sell my art commissions.
Want to make it feel more finished and professional.
I feel feel like it’s still in the “ugly” phase of painting. Especially the flowers and leaves. Would adding more highlights and shadows (maybe bluish shadows) to the leaves help, or detract from the portrait?
Also, how can I make the flowers pop more, while keeping the same background color?
Thanks so much. :)
I want to take my painting to the next level. I think maybe what’s holding me back is that I paint very rigid, not very confident brush strokes, and I end up getting lost in details that maybe don’t need too much attention. How do I paint more “naturally” so to say?
Composition and color palette feel strong to me. Some of the details feel a little muddy, particularly as it relates to anatomy. Also, any production tips for oil painting? I no the basic stuff, fat over thin and all that, but this painting took months so I know there's something I can do more efficiently.
I’m loo
This was my first time painting and I found it pretty hard
I think my main issues are color variety and hard/soft edges.
Idk if this is a result of the software I’m using(clip studio paint) or I just need to practice more but blending is really hard for me. Especially putting down a new color and blending it into what I previously blended. It just ends up looking muddy/has that airbrush effect.
Also idk if it matters but here is my process:
Lay down a tone color for the background
Sketch all the details
Paint a base color for skin
Paint shadows
Paint warm tones for skin
Paint highlights
I didn’t get much feedback on this during critique. any thoughts ?
Hey everyone, I've been re watching Fairy Tale and I decided to draw Igneel.
I was following a how to guide just to get the shaping down as I haven't drawn any full body dragons before, as I've only been drawing since late September.
Im also having trouble with paper size? This is a larger artist pad and I still didn't have the room to fit the wings correctly.
I'm finding that if I use a smaller pad or a larger one I always run out of space.
I know there are bigger sheets but I spend 95% of my time drawing in my car between Uber orders.
Any tips?
This was done in pencil and then lined with a micron pen.
(I know the line quality is terrible and I need to refine these hands lol) but except that which constructive criticism can you give on this? Thank you!
I don’t hate or love this piece so far. Newish to digital art and using color/ rendering so any advice would be much appreciated. I think I have been staring at it too long and am missing its flaws. Do I need to keep rendering?
This is about 7hrs in, is that typical this stage?
