Any recs for golf lessons in Arlington?
Has anyone lived or know someone who has lived in the Belvedere Apts. in NW DC?
When I moved up here a little over 4 years ago, I very quickly noticed that there are a lot of people that love to jog regularly. That was an extremely welcome change, because back in the coal camps where I'm from I was one of about 4 people in the whole county that would jog around the area.
In this profession, I meet and work with a lot of people that jog regularly, participate in sports, or are professional athletes. Once somebody tells me what activities they do or sport they play, I by instinct know what imbalances that I'm most likely going to find. With joggers and marathoners, some of the most common imbalances I see are tight calves, hamstrings, and hip flexors and internally rotated legs due to the glutes not working properly.
These issues stem a lot from a person's form/mechanics while out for their favorite form of exercise, and so we have to get them not only on the right strength and mobility training program, but also start working on their running mechanics so that these issues don't continue to persist and they're performing significantly better as well.
I'm wondering if anyone has built a golf simulator in an accessory dwelling in Arlington, VA. If so, were you able to build one sufficiently large (ceiling 10' high, 10'x17' LxW) without a building permit? The state of Virginia allows for a maximum of 256 s.f., but I imagine Arlington tacks on several additional restrictions. Lastly, how much did it cost to build the structure alone?
Can I just walk in and get in a queue here for DMV? What's the wait like?
Hi everyone,
As the title suggests, I am looking to move to the Arlington area before starting work in downtown DC next month and am looking for some advice/guidance. For context, I am a recent graduate moving from out of the area. I believe that Arlington/NoVA is more in line with my lifestyle preferences than DC itself. While I have done extensive research on the entire process, I am looking for some "insider" tips/info on finding an affordable apartment that meets my needs in a safe and reliable area.
Metro access is probably my top priority- I don't mind a short walk, but would like the entire one-way commute to remain close to/under a half hour. I also plan on renting a 1 bedroom apartment by myself, without roommates, so co-ops/studios are not a preferred option. I'm pretty flexible with specific amenities, but in-unit washer/dryer would be nice (not required)- however reliable building management/condition is important. Entertainment/bars/restaurants are not the biggest concern- I am willing to travel for those. I much rather prefer quieter areas anyway. Lastly, my budget is around $1800/month. Is that realistic? I consider myself to be a responsible spender if that amounts to anything and can budget well.
Are there any websites or specific condominium/apartment complexes you would recommend? Any "method to the madness" which may prove more efficient in terms of finding an appropriate apartment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I just wanted to post in here and see if anyone in this thread is interested in a service like this. I have a studio in Tysons Corner and I'm running a special from now until Monday at 10 PM where its Black Friday, and to give people a training home as they start to work on their New Year's Resolutions.
1 Month of 1x a Week 1-1 Training/Assisted Stretching Sessions - $180.00
-or-
1 Month of 2x a Week 1-1 Training/Assisted Stretching Sessions - $350.00
I do offer the basics of personal training (strength, cardio, balance, etc.), but I also have some rarer skillsets (TPI Golf Mobility & Power Training, Hands-on Targeted Stretching, and Strength & Conditioning/Sports Performance) to offer as well and a lot of knowledge and understanding of the science and application, as well as a lot of floor experience actively training clients.
I've been a full-time trainer for 4 years now and have consistently maintained a caseload of 25+ active clients. I used to run an internship through UMD when I was training clients in Bethesda and have been lucky enough to work with pro football and ice hockey players, as well as Olympian Speed Skaters and they don't let just anybody train or manually manipulate them because their body is their career.
The normal prices and address are on my website at: https://coachdustinpt.com/freetrial
My current prices are at the bottom of the page and the studio address is in the footer.
I look forward to working with those of you that are interested!
I am looking to move back to Arlington after twenty years away. What is the best neighborhood to move to that has people my age, but has the neighborhood feel of Clarendon.
Guessing this is just a me (not we) thing, but anyone having water issues today?
My bathroom faucet's water pressure has randomly jumped crazy high with no sign of letting up. Also the water initally came out brown š¤¢
Is a carton cheaper there? Currently paying $14 plus for pack in Maryland.
Saw this prompt in a few other city subs, thought it could be interesting to see what everyone thinks about Arlington.
I live near Taft and 14th on a high floor of a high rise, and for the past few days I have been absolutely haunted by this weird screeching, almost violin-like sound that comes and goes intermittently. I havenāt been able to find the source but it is SO loud and really starting to bug me, even with windows shut on a high floor. Anyone been able to determine what/where it is? šµāš«
Hey all, I'm a french digital nomad looking to maybe move in Washington in 1-2 months. I'm looking for a coliving space where I can meet people from different nationalities ..
I saw some coliving companies already created in DC but I can't find any ranking or honest review. What's your opinion on the coliving in DC ?
Does anyone know what will happen to the mall? All of the shops are being shut down and it isnāt clear what the plan is
Title sums it up. Looking for a place for a chair massage that can hopefully relieve the knots.
forgot to lock one of the cars last night and woke up to all the doors, trunk and glove box all open and shuffled around. I donāt keep anything of value in my car so there was nothing to take but make sure youāre locking your doors!!!
I'm moving to NoVA in January for a job at the Pentagon. I'm having trouble choosing an apartment based just off of google reviews. Does anyone have any recommendations for an apartment with an easy metro commute to the Pentagon for a single female, small dog, 1 bed/1 bath, around $2,800/mo. Would prefer an outdoor pool and easy metro/walking access to things to do and grocery store.
We keep getting emails from Washington Gas warning us that we're responsible for part of the Gas line to the house if anything goes wrong. Washington Gas suggests going through HomeServe for coverage.
Has anyone bought or used this coverage personally? It doesn't seem like a scam, but you never know nowadays.
Itās 830am on Saturday morning (11/23). Iāve been hearing helicopter(s) loop around overhead near Ballston area - anyone know whatās going on??
Iāve been to a few in the Courthouse area and Los Primos and Mi Rancho are both really good. Are there any must-try taco trucks in Arlington?
Help! Attempting to narrow down my apartment hunt. Want reviews from people who've lived at 2201 Wilson in Courthouse and 1800 Oak in Rosslyn - the good, bad and ugly! Is it loud to live in Rosslyn? Right now the price and square footage are around the same but my main concern is noise as someone who's living above a noisy loading dock now! Thank you in advance šš»
Edited to add: 1800 Oak is facing 18th St, 2201 Wilson is facing N Veitch St. Also looking for residents' thoughts on the complexes as a whole in addition to the neighborhood! :-)
Looking to see if anyone has recommendations for a good gynecologist in the Arlington area? Specifically, Ballston area if possible. Iāve gone to some bad ones in the past (dismissive/condescending, missed that I had PCOS, poorly placed IUD etc.) so I want to make sure to try one that other people actually have had good experiences with. Thanks so much in advance!
I left one of my interior lights on in my car, and my battery died. Iāve had my friend jump-start it, and itās not turning on. I purchased the battery two months ago, so Iām shocked itās not turning on. I have a two-year warranty on the battery, so I can replace it, but the problem is getting it to AutoZone. Does anyone know someone in the area that can help?Ā
Hi it's me again! I made a post recently about how I'm visiting Arlington for Thanksgiving along with my interests and people were super helpful, thank you!!
I found out recently the neighbourhood my family is in is Ballston. Unfortunately, a lot of the recs aren't there (but close-ish! So a day trip is cool. Clarendon and Old Town Alexandria sound up my street). But I am wondering if there's anything going on in that area that would be cool. Live music, events, quirky bookstores, historical sites, best parks, rock climbing gyms? Seems to be a lot of musuems (esp art ones) which rock. But yes, any suggestions for someone in their mid-20s?
