First time fly fishing today. Went out to the salt River to just learn the basics. And I think I’m hooked. No pun intended. Spent about two hours in the blue point area didn’t catch anything. Was throwing a black and red woolly bugger. Still learning the basics. Super fun form of active fishing.
Anyone has any tips I’m all ears. I’ll be back out early tomorrow morning to try to catch one.
Caught my first couple native gilas in northern AZ! This was the biggest of the ones I caught all successful releases
I'm a new fly fisher. Got fully outfitted and now just need to plan my first trip.
Will I do okay just going to blue point bridge early morning if I have basic technique down?
Again, just want to get this hobby rolling but have a decent chance at some bites.
Thanks.
Can anybody recommend a good spot to catch bass from the shore this time of year. Unfortunately, I don't have as much time as I used to to scout the sweet spots. Thanks in advance!
What is the best AZ fishing in the winter? I assume trout fishing is good. Does it get too cold for bass? I’m in the phoenix area. But have been driving all over (Sedona, Payson, etc.)
You all think its too cold now to target larger flatheads at bartlett? Went out there two weeks ago during first cold front and didnt even get a bite. Thinking about taking the boat this weekend if I go.
Really want to learn to get better using flies. Is the salt river a good option?
I’m taking a week trip up north by Christopher creek off the 260 in a couple weeks to try and knock out the trout challenge, going to silver creek for Apache, but will need 2 of either brook, tiger, grayling or cutthroat. I know cutties are only out by big lake and the white mountains so they’re out for this trip. Do they still have Grayling at bear canyon? Also have heard you can get Brookies at Hunter creek, has any fished there recently?
Has anyone tried out the trout fishing at the salt river? Says they are stocking but I still feel like it is way to warm.
Thinking about heading up to the Salt River with my buddy this weekend, particularly Phon D. I saw on the stocking report they stocked it with trout this week and was wondering if there’s any bait or methods to use to try and catch a few trout
Taking my dad up to Reservation Lake to try and catch some brown trout this weekend. Anyone have any tips on where to fish or what they’re hitting right now? Neither of us have ever been. Thank you!
Been putting in alot of work down south to find some spots. I have found a couple good holes but nothing worth writting home about. Anyone in the know of some decent bass, flathead, tilapia spots in the tucson area?
Moved to the area a few years ago and I miss the fly fishing I would do after work when I lived in the north east. Does anyone know of any spots within 45ish minutes of Scottsdale? I don’t really care about how bad the fishing is I just want to throw a line in the water and the outdoors. Thanks in advance
Anyone know of any good fishing this time of year? Been to lake Mary a few times and always walk back with nothing
Fun day at Bartlett, always good for numbers nothing crazy in size, just the 'flips'of the day

Been fishing canals, can’t get the carp to bite on ANYTHING… Got skunked 4 days in a row… only thing I have yet to try is night crawlers… anyone have any luck with them?
Working my way through the Trout Challenge. Where is the best place to catch Brown trout this time of year?
I was thinking, maybe wet beaver Creek or West clear Creek?
Thanks, everyone
Has anyone fished Burro Creek near Bagdad? I’ve read a couple older fishery reports that said it has some natives in it and sunfish.
Hello! Any decent areas at bartlett lake where I can fish near the truck? I know there are the flats where everyone camps, but i feel like that water is extremely to shallow for big flatheads. I have a boat, but its just such a hassle when you are by yourself trying to load and unload it. Planned on going this Saturday and fishing all night.
