first time renting a house and i’m lost! what kind of washer/dryer do i need to buy?
Hello! Hopefully this is allowed.
I have a fridge (model is KRFF577KPSO2) that makes a tapping noise throughout the day that literally sounds like someone is tapping their nails against the back of the fridge. Unit is under 2 months old and has been happening since we received it. Everything else is fine, but this noise drives us crazy.
I’ve gone through the KitchenAid customer service and had a tech come out four times to try and repair it (as it is not a typical fridge noise), but this final fourth visit was just him telling me that there was nothing else he could do to try and fix it because both his repair company and Whirlpool techs have no idea what to do to even try and resolve it. It’s definitely unusual and the first time he’s encountered this issue. He said to push for a buy back or a new unit.
I called KitchenAid again and did as he advised, but the customer service rep pushed hard against me and said that a swap or buy back is not feasible because I just have the limited repair warranty. She tried to suggest a second opinion to come out to try and fix it, but also said that I could be charged for the service if no repairs are made. I didn’t want to go with this option because I didn’t want to be charged if the techs can’t fix it. Basically, I just said that at this point, I need a new fridge. Especially because it’s becoming an issue taking days off just to attend to the tech within the span of <2 months.
I requested an escalation and will receive a call back tomorrow, but does anyone has experience with something like this?
EDIT: here is a link to a vid w the sound https://imgur.com/a/EwJQkcD
The water flow in our Bosch dishwasher has severely slowed (parts of the dishwasher are not even touched after a cycle) and after a bunch of troubleshooting and testing I am convinced that we'll need to replace the water pump. I'm trying to decide if it's economically not worth it to bring in a repair person for this job. Does anyone know how long it takes to replace a pump in a Bosch dishwasher and generally how much the pumps cost?
I am in an apartment with limited space. I have been considering buying a freezer or chest freezer for some time, but we don't have the space for a big one one in my kitchen, and we don't want a freezer to be a part of the living room decor.
We have a covered deck that has plenty of space for a chest freezer. Would a "garage ready" freezer be okay outside year-round? We could cover it with a blanket, and it would not be exposed to snow or direct precipitation. The other option is one of the tall/skinny Frigidaire indoor models; it would fit inside, but again, we have limited space so we'd love to explore an outdoor option.
Today I loaded my 2024 Amana dryer normally and went to start it and it started spinning and I walked away as I always do but noticed after an hour it was still running. I looked at the knob and it was still on the time I sat it on. I then opened the dryer and noticed no heat at all and clothes were still wet. I tried resetting breaker, unplugging dryer for 5 minutes, and choosing the other settings on the dryer and even the no heat option works but with no knob movement. So no heat no matter what and no matter what setting I put it on knob won't budge on its own so if I put it on 60 minutes it runs but stays on 60 minutes and won't heat. Any ideas?
We are going through the full cycle and using pods. Could it be that also some water is always left in some dishes even though they are upside down? (Glasses and bowls with indented grooves?)
Would it have something to do with filling the rinse container? Thank you.
Anyone know where I can order a replacement drain plug in Canada? I called the customer service # but it’s $50 alone for the part and they are going to call me back about the shipping to Canada from the U.S
My LG Washtower manufactured in 11/21 continuously throws of a U5 code mid cycle , it won’t complete a cycle ( washer part) the U5 or VS is a vibration Sensor. I was finally able to get a repair man out ( zero help from LG) to diagnose ( $85) , he was surprised it would be the sensor since it was so new, so he checked out the shocks, all were junk, broken. He ordered new ones ( the shocks have changed part numbers twice, so LG knows the original are junk) and a sensor just in case. He came today to repair , all new shocks and sensor + labor ( $350) and reset the machine. Same problem , the code still comes up and machine is not repaired. The repairman is baffled , he’s worked on LG’s 14 years and can’t figure this out. Any vibration issues should have been repaired with the new parts. We’ve checked the drain, perfectly clean . LG has offered nothing to resolve, forget about speaking to a human! I’m beyond frustrated. The repairman says he’s not going to rest until he figures out a solution, he is a stand up fella .
Any ideas appreciated! I have a brand new condenser tumble dryer and it’s worked perfectly for the past month. Yesterday I was doing a load and smelt a burning smell (had to rewash the load it was that bad), in the lint catcher there was burnt lint and some had turned into charcoal! The dryer was cleaned of all lint before starting this load - I’m very strict about cleaning it out.
Any ideas? Is it because I put the washing on too high heat? That said I previously have used that setting numerous times for those exact things and it’s been fine! Thanks in advance
I noticed that my WM2250CW doesn’t seem to get hot water in any cycle (including the tub clean and setting the Wash Temp to hot). I verified that the hot water outlet is providing hot water and recently replaced the hot water inlet valve (a common failure part) with one from Amazon. However, despite these steps, the water remains tap cold. Could anyone help troubleshoot this?
Looking at model FFBD1831US , from Costco.ca
Now, in theory I could do a 24 in, but installing it will be quite possibly VERY difficult with the existing countertop and understorage... the easier option is doing an 18in install and putting some very small storage areas beside the machine.
This seems like the best for stainless steel + 18 inch size. And it's not too small I feel... but it IS frigidaire and this sub seems to recommend Bosch instead. I have other Frigidaire appliances that are fine otherwise...
2 year warranty and Frigidaire does have extended warranty otherwise.
Thanks!
Looking to replace my aging LG Dishwasher in my house. It still works, but isn’t that great.
I was going to order the Bosch 800 on sale at Costco for $1049 but it seems like the sale may have ended a few days ago. It also seems like that dishwasher is constantly on sale for that price. Currently Costco has the Benchmark on sale for almost the same price as the 800 at regular price.
Would you wait for the 800 to go back on sale or pull the trigger on the Benchmark? It seems like the only differences are a projected countdown vs light and interior lights. The wash systems seem to be the same.
Hi all, My fridge is RF25HMIDBSR, but i’m mainly seeing MED online. Trying to figure out the water filter part number if anyone can assist please.
Hey everyone, I’m stuck between these two models from LG and Bosch. Has anyone used either of these before? Would you recommend them?
I just moved into my first apartment and it has a Model GFQ14ESSNWW GE Washer Dryer Combo. So far I've ran two regular loads with it, and both times it cancels 10-15 minutes in. Its super frustrating. The display says cancelled and the lid remains locked for four minutes. If anyone has any idea what could be going wrong please let me know.
Hello,
We're having a bit of a problem with our fridge (freezer is above the picture below) Water keeps getting on the top of the inside of the fridge...
We don't know what to do. Everything is at a good temperature, freezer is working properly too..
Hi, we are building an off grid home with full solar energy supply and propane generator backup. Our solar grid will be built to our needs. Many off grid homes use gas for cooking, but we THINK we'd prefer electric (induction cooktop) for health, what we are used to etc. We are a little worried about gas leaks I guess. RN I'm looking at wall oven plus induction cooktop as an undercounter install. I've already talked myself out of all the EXCITING options of plumbed steam/combi oven (frequent cleans, may need lots of maintenance...an issue for us in the boondocks). So now...wanting self clean..and...oddly, telescoping racks (will be retiring here, want easy to pull out shelves for heavy dutch ovens etc).
My question: WWYD? Just go to gas, vs build the extra solar capacity? if 2) suggestions for energy efficient ovens? Love induction cooktop cooking, and glad that that is reportedly efficient.
For the past few years our Samsung fridge (RB197ACRS) that came with our house has been freezing items in the right crisper and leaking from the bottom corner.
Did some research and people said it was most likely the drain pipe freezing and you can replace a metal piece behind the panel that is longer to prevent this.
Got the part on online. Watched some videos on youtube and went at it. When we took the panel off and removed the metal piece it looked like this repair had already been attempted (see pic). The original parts I saw in all the videos were much shorter than the one pictured.
Can anyone confirm this is an original part or someone already attempted this fix?
Anyway, changed the piece out and fingers crossed this did the trick. But for sure will never buy Samsung in the future. Thank you in advance for reading my post!
I recently bought an apartment that comes with a built-in smeg oven. However, I'm having a really hard time figuring out the meaning of the symbols on my oven. They're in none of the guidelines online, and because this oven was already here when I moved in, I don't have a manual. Does anyone know what these stand for? I know the fifth option stands for steaming, but I am lost on the rest...
Our washer started squeaking a few days ago during the agitation cycle. The squeak happens when the agitation switches from clockwise to counterclockwise. It sounds like it’s coming from the back left corner, but I can’t locate it.
First thought was a slipping belt, so I replaced that. Old one wasn’t cracked or split, but definitely had some age on it. That wasn’t the problem. It sounds exactly the same as before, and the video is with the new belt. I checked the clutch, and it looks brand new; no slipping or rubbing anywhere.
I couldn’t see any thing obvious from the top with the lid open or from the bottom (set it up on blocks and ran it). Any thoughts on what this could be, before I pay for a repair man?
I recently purchased and had a new GE 27 cu. ft. French Door refrigerator installed (GNE27JYMFS / GNE27JYMXFFS).
We have had the appliance powered on for 72 hours and no matter when I enter the kitchen, the unit's motor / fan / compressor seems to be operating and actively cooling / circulating air throughout the unit. This is happening regardless of the time of day (even in the middle of the night / early morning after doors have been closed for 4 / 8+ hours). I checked the temperatures using a thermometer and the unit is achieving the set and recommended temperatures (37f, 0f ) within 1 or 2 degrees. The unit has the required air spacing behind, above and to the sides. The ambient temperature in the room is between 55f and 65f. The unit is about 40% full. It's as level as I can measure, given the unit doesn't actually have any reliable surfaces to measure from (the cabinet top bulges in the center).
Should the unit's fan / compressor be running constantly, or is it supposed to turn off at some point for small amounts of time?
FWIW, even with the fan / compressor running constantly, the sound isn't unexpectedly loud, erratic or annoying, but its definitely audible in another room when it's quiet. I don't mind the sound, but I'm concerned there is something wrong and the constant running will reduce its lifespan.
I tried to find this install manual online but no luck. Model has been discontinued. Installer is saying the elbow cane connected by manufacturer. Manufacturer is saying it did not. Now we have a leak and we don’t have a installation manual to confirm. It looks like they removed all of them from internet. Any ideas?
