My fridge has been making this tapping sound for a couple weeks. It’s a Fridgedaire, freezer on top. I don’t know how old as it came with our house but would guess within the last 10 years.
Fridge and freezer work fine with no issue. Tried defrosting the freezer over night and there was no ice build up anywhere. Any ideas what this sound is?

Hey everyone! I just ordered this fridge but now I’m worried it’s going to be nothing but a nightmare. It won’t even ship out until the end of this month so I am still well within my cancellation window. Should I cancel this? Is it really that bad? If so would a Frigidaire be better? I’m so lost in the fridge buying world. Thanks!!

We have the LG 29cuft French Door ThinQ Slim Design Water Dispenser fridge. The light on the dispenser itself (not the display) is no longer working (so at night, we can’t see if we have our cups lined up to the water stream). Anyone know if this is repairable/replaceable on our own? I can’t find a way to access the bulb so may need to call for service or a tech but thought I’d ask in case anyone out there has same fridge/issue.
Hey everyone I have this Bosch maxx7 old washing machine I got second handed. When I got it it made a terrible noise (honestly like a machine gun) - so I went and replaced the shock absorbers. I used authentic ones and my technical sense is decent so I think that was done good, Also the hammering noise was gone. Now - a month later some hammering noise returned, quieter yet it’s driving me crazy. In the videos - the “quieter” machine gun and me hand shaking the drum.
Help would be appreciated
As you can see from the attached graph there are some major temperature fluctuations. We noticed about a month ago the our GE bottom freezer fridge was melting the ice we put in the ice tray. I thought the kids were leaving the door open and it was thawing a bit, but that wasn't the case. I have been out of town since starting to monitor the temps and will be back today. I plan to inspect the freezer for any build up of ice or anything out of the ordinary. Note the fluctuations are probably more dramatic as we removed everything from the freezer. Any ideas on what could be wrong or what I could do to troubleshoot? Thanks
So my grand-ma has this Siemens when turning at high speed it makes weird noise. Does anyone know what the source of the sound is? My grandma will be forever thankfull 🫶
I had a Kitchenaid side by side with a water filter that produced delicious water.
I'm looking to buy an extra fridge for the garage with a water dispenser and don't want to spend as much. Does anyone know if the filters are made by the same manufacturers? I'm thinking of buying a Frigidaire, which is less than 1/2 price of the KA I previously had.
I've been trying to phase out GE products as they never seem to last for any length of time and even when in warranty, G.E will claim some kinda bs exception.
So what do you recommend? I hear Induction is all the rage these days.
Totally messed up and ran the remote through the wash- the red light to it turns on when pressed but it no longer turns the device on. I assume there’s no hope of fixing the remote, but even behind the grate I don’t think I see a way of just manually turning on the device. Anyone have any ideas?
So I just pulled apart the filter from my Dishlex 100 and cannot find where this piece fits. Everything else seems to fit together fine. Any ideas?
A few nights ago, we were running both channels of our brand new mini split system. As I was about to turn the downstairs channel off and go to bed, the defrost code showed on the mini split. I turned it off thinking I was going to bed anyways, but the next morning I woke up to a lot of liquid dripping out of the condenser. Now, a few days later, it doesn’t seem to heat at all.
I tried calling Bosch but the service is literally useless. They refused to answer a simple question and said they’d only talk to my contractor. So my question to reddit (fuck you Bosch), does turning the mini split off when it’s in defrost mode damage it? could it cause a leak of the refrigerant?
I was relaxing after work and I hear the washing machine draining. It was plugged in but not on. It stops draining whenever I rotate the drum. Then 15 seconds later it’ll continue to just drain again so I unplugged it. The start button doesn’t work. I’am a plumber so I’m very handy about fixing things. I read online it could be a control board? Does anyone have any experience with these? Thanks much.
Posted over on r/GEappliances but wanted to post here too
I got a GE opal ice maker about a month ago, and any time I turn it off it rapidly flashes random colors. When it's on, it operates completely normally. Been doing this since I go it, so I end up just unplugging it at night usually.
Any ideas why? Should I just leave it plugged in and let it do its weird light show when I'm not making ice?
About a month ago, our two year old Frigidaire 3 cu foot upright freezer began to stop freezing. The compressor would not run, and a clicking noise was emitted every few minutes. With some research, I discovered it was the overload protector making this noise, so I got a replacement. After installing the new set (overload protector + starting relay), the compressor did indeed start to run and the clicking noise ceased. This success was short lived, however, when the freezer would not get below room temperature, and the compressor surface was reaching temperatures close to 330 degrees F after a couple hours running. I pulled the plug and did some more research. I thought maybe it might need refrigerant, so I ordered some r600a with a charging hose and a bullet piercing valve. After starting the compressor for 15 min and connecting a gauge to the piercing valve on the low side line, I got a pressure reading of around 27 PSI. From what I've gathered from my research into r600a systems, it should be operating between -10-15 Hg in a vacuum, so something is clearly wrong here. What could be causing this absense of vacuum? Could there be a blockage somewhere? Will recharging refrigerant fix this discrepancy? Where do I go from here? I know this is a relatively inexpensive unit ($250), but I think it should have lasted more than 2 years. It makes no sense to spend more than its purchased cost to have a professional repair it, but it seems like such a waste to just scrap everything and buy another one. Thank you for your time and consideration.
cleaning my dad’s whirlpool fridge. it’s very gross inside so i’ve been cleaning for a few hours (unloaded the food, took out shelving, then started cleaning the inside) and the lights inside the fridge shut off. i shit the doors to reset them so they’d be on again while i clean but the symbol that means the doors are open didn’t go off, and the lights didn’t come back on. we unplugged it and plugged it back in and the issue persists. the water and ice also are no longer working. my husband thinks i just defrosted the fridge too much and it needs to get cold again for the lights and door symbol, and water and ice to work again. help! we are leaving it alone and closed for awhile.
I know that the product sold at Costco tend to have some corners cut which is how they get such good prices. I was really surprised to read some of these reviews, though. Does Bosch sell a different model at Costco than other retailers?
I heard Bosch was great, buy Bosch. I liked the reviews, I bought a reasonable model. Not the best, not the worst, right in the middle. It's replacing a GE Profile, which I never thought was special, it just got the job done. What I'm a little surprised by - what I didn't even think to research, because in the year 2025 who would think I needed to research this - is that my highly respected, not-luxury-but-not-cheap dishwasher would have a slight weakness in that it can't fucking dry my dishes. I'll be honest and up front with you, I guess I fucked up: I truly, sincerely didn't think this was even an option anymore at my price point of a thousand goddamned dollars. I'm spoiled, I thought this was just a thing they all do now. It's like buying a new car and learning it doesn't come with headlights because I never asked. I didn't think I had to. Holy hell.
The back vent of our dryer appears burnt and we found some lint stuck to the back side of it. When we opened the drier today there was a burnt smell coming from it. Unfortunately while trying the pull the lint out it fell back behind the grate. Should we take apart the dryer to get that lint out? Or will it but pulled out through the vent now that its dislodged?
My google fu is failing me. How to shut off the 10 second wash complete jingle for this unit?
My Microwave door just came off and replacement doors are crazy expensive. Am looking for Frigidaire models on Facebook marketplace and came across a FMT144G1B2.
How can I determine whether it uses the same mounting bracket? I would rather get a replacement that does not need drilling and new holes etc. For what it's worth, my current LFMV164QFA also is connected to an exhaust on the top of the stove, and the stove is a gas stove. Thanks!
I just got a new fridge (Frigidaire Gallery FGHT2055VF), and the door hinge is making an unsettling loud snapping/cracking sound every time I open or close it. (See video.) I can’t imagine it’s a normal operating noise. The fridge is advertised as having a soft-close feature, and when I saw it in-store and in demo videos, it definitely wasn’t making this noise.
It seems like the hinge pieces are catching on each other, which they should be… but not to this sound effect… Nothing appears to be breaking, but the sound is sharp, almost like a hard “snap” or “pop.” It’s this kind of hinge: https://www.partselect.ca/PS16544387-Frigidaire-5304528866-HINGE-ASSEMBLY.htm
Has anyone dealt with this before? Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thank you!!
Thought to ask here, my water dispenser keeps leaking from the same spot (highlight indicating) I thought it was a not enough tight seal but it’s happening again. I can’t risk coming to another spill again. Is there a solution for this?
Bought a new washer/dryer, and I'm trying to reverse the door to open via the other side. Nothing online is helping as they don't seem to cover this model, (although the mechanism is extremely similar.) But I took out the only 4 screws holding this door inplace, and yet it will absolutely not budge at all. Model is PFQ83HSLWWW. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
Can I still use my dryer without the lint filter cover, so long as the filter is in? It broke, and it will probably be a minute before I can get a replacement part from LG. Can anyone confirm if these usually have 1 spring or 2 holding it in? I’m trying to be sure I found them all.
I got a great deal on a used 36" Thermador range (PRG366WH/03) but realized after buying it's set up for propane not natural gas. We had an appliance repair man come and replace the orifices for the burners but he is having trouble getting information from Bosch on what is needed to convert the oven back to natural gas.
Can anyone help me track down what parts I need to replace to use the oven? Or where I could try to track down the information?
I don't understand why after 5 years of correctly working, my dishwasher soap tablet will not fall from the door compartment.
The little door itself works correctly, and I make sure to wipe water from the compartment so that the tablet dont stick. For whatever reason, gravity seems to have stopped working.
The soap will not disolve and the dishes remain dirty after the cycle. Any help appreciated
For context, cleaned out all accumulated dust from compressor/fan/coils area. Do new compressors just sound like this? Incredibly insufferable…
Ahoy! Unfortunately, due to narrow local tech shops selection, I'm forced to hunt through online platforms, but apart from desired dimensions and capacity, I don't really know precisely what to look after.
I'm familiar with No/Low Frost technology, I'm familiar with Inverter compressor, but I'm not very familiar with other crucial things like warranty quality, build quality outside of compressor and coils. I'm aware most refrigerators are built +- similarly, regardless of the brand, but like my local shop has no-name (most likely rebranded due to country region being Turkey) refrigerator with 3 years warranty, Low Frost feature with top freezer for 35% less money than similar capacity Beko model with 2 year warranty and static cooling.
And I'm not hunting for top brands. I know ya all might recommend me top EU & USA brands, but due to lack of funds, I'm focusing strictly on the low end.
