Hi All,
I'm a current Madison resident seeking to move back to the Fox Valley due to some family shenanigans (woot sandwich generation, amiright?). We don't want to live in Oshkosh or Green Bay, so we were thinking we would split the difference and possibly try Appleton.
The main sticking point for my ex and me is resources for our largely nonverbal autistic son, who is in first grade.
Because we would be moving two households and there would be a ton of logistics involved, we really want to do our due diligence before we get there. Are there schools or services to avoid? Ones that really go the extra mile? I would deeply appreciate any and all firsthand accounts and information.
Thank you!
Ever since it was closed temporarily over the summer, the quality has been very inconsistent, when it used to be one of the best restaurants in the city. Did it change ownership? New chefs?
You can order the same dish one week apart and it will be a totally different consistency, have different amount of seasonings, the sauce will be a different shade of color, etc. This was never the case in the past, you could expect the same delicious dish every order. Also, every dish used to be have a nice little garnish on top, but that's no longer the case. Even the rice used to be caringly seasoned, but that also is gone.
If it's a price issue, I'd pay more for what they used to put out, but this is just disappointing.
I've even had my first case of mediocre service there recently, when it had always been top notch in the past.
My girlfriend got a parking ticket for parking in my yard, does anyone know why this is against the law?
My friend is trying crab rangoons for the first time and I want to make sure their first is the best I can get. Who has the best crab rangoons? Thanks!
Anybody know what the police escort was that passed through Appleton Friday night around 5:30? There were probably 25 police vehicles in total in front of and behind a white SUV. I assumed it was one of the presidential/VP candidates but everything I could find said they were in the southern part of the state today.
I’m vacating, Appleton (Grand Chute), in search of someone reliable and budget friendly to clean 2bed 2 bath apartment. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Its fairly clean, couple of hours should do it, all the stuff is already moved out
Wife and I want to get ramen this aafternoon, our go to place ototo is closed until 4pm and we were not very impressed with Bowl 91. Are there any other places near Appleton? Would be willing to drive 25 min. Thanks
Question: I cannot believe the number of cars at the Appleton airport all the time. Does anyone know why so many people are park there? Is there really that much air traffic? It seems like it doesn’t matter which day you go by there’s hundreds of cars in the parking lot. Just curious.
Looking for honey that is made as close to Appleton as possible.
Found a few Wisconsin ones at Woodman's, but they're all made about 100 miles away. Hoping to support any Appleton area suppliers as well as possibly get allergy benefits before next spring hits.
seems like male stylists are better with my hair and I need a fresh new cut that will compliment my face.
I do live in the Neenah/Menasha area so close to there would be good but I don't mind going to Appleton if I have to.
My wife and I will be up there with friends and we are looking for food recommendations!
Thank you!
Hey all, has anyone got lasik from an optician in the valley? If so can you recommend anybody and give a general idea of pricing (if you’re willing too). Also do any of them offer any sort of discount for first responders/law enforcement? Thanks!!
Put on a few more pounds than I wanted to during the summer and am looking for any exercise groups to join. Free would be best but I am willing to pay fees if necessary. Hiking, sports, gym. Doesn't matter to me as long as it's active.
I can travel as well but anything farther than a 30 minute drive is a no go.
I’m in the process of getting a condo and I need a home inspector in the next ten days any suggestions?
Just found out I have 4 louver roof vents with plastic covers on my roof that are all cracked/deteriorated. Anyone have recommendations for roofer/contractor to replace them?
First off I just want to say that the parking situation is atrocious. There were parking stalls marked for absentee with a 25 minute limit but I drove around the block 4 times and none of them moved. Wound up just stopping on the street with the 4 ways on to quickly toss my ballot envelope in the box.
Into the main question, so it has the little flap that opens. I was kind of rushing so I didn't really look before trying to put my ballot in and it actually went in the top of the little panel. Only after I was walking away did I realize there was actually a little slit/hole to put the ballot through. I just am checking to see if that's just a thin plate and the ballot going over the top still fell down into the same place. I'm paranoid that I shoved it into the shadow realm and it won't see the light of day until the box is taken apart after the election 😂
Hey all. I went (California) sober 11 weeks ago and my social life is lacking. I feel like I might as well be new to the area. I don't mind going out with my drinking friends but sometimes they can be too much when they are drunk. I have also been running into issues with plans being canceled on me because people are too hungover to follow through. So I'm reaching out to see if there's any sober people that have the same issues or maybe have ideas of things to do or would like to do something.
I'm 33m and married with a 4-year-old son. I play MTG and video games. I like bar sports (you can catch me with a NA beer still) and I want to disc again. I'm out of shape but I've been working out and dieting since quitting drinking so physical sports are on the table but don't expect me to be any good. I don't have a lot of money to gamble but I do like poker and card games. Board games too. I just like games lol. I've never done any TTRPGs but I'd be open. Hell, being sober makes me feel like I got my life back. I'm open to pretty much anything.
If any of this jives with you shoot me a DM. I feel too damn good to be sitting in my house all the time.
My wife is buying a new Honda CR-V and would like to get a hitch installed for a bike rack. Where is the best place in the Fox Cities to get this done?
I NEED HELP!! Looking for suggestions on a place for a baby shower. Around fox cities. The baby shower is going to be in December or January so we'll be needing an inside place. Not in need of a huge place. It can be anywhere by fox cities.
Appreciate everyone's suggestions in advanced! ❤️
Edit: first time looking for anything like this so please ask questions or anything I'm not considering 🥹
We're looking at around 100 guests and we will be personally providing food, no need for a place that caters food.
Hey everyone I know this is a long shot but are there any farmers/landowners on here who have nuisance does on their land? I am a bowhunter who primarily hunts for meat and I am currently trying to fill my freezer but the land I normally hunt on has been hit hard by other hunters this year. I’m just looking for an overpopulation where I can cull one or two mature does out of the herd for meat I won’t shoot bucks/spikes/yearlings/or fawns. I prefer winnebago county but I will travel anywhere in the fox valley area. I have my own mobile hunting setup that I use and as an Eagle Scout I am very conscientious of the land I am using (leave no trace and all of that) If you have a situation like this, know someone who does, or have any questions you wish to ask feel free to comment or message me directly. Thank you.
That thing is fucking smooth 👌
Not necessarily looking for 20+taps but would like a unique selection. I listed a few favorites below. What am I missing?
Couple that stand out:
Bazil’s - Appleton Ruby Owl - Oshkosh Hop Yard - Appleton McFleshman’s - Appleton Lion’s Tail - Neenah
Thanks!
I am looking for a piano teacher that can do beginner to intermediate private music theory and piano lessons for an adult and a 6 yo boy both with some piano playing experience. Location is close to Fox River Mall. Cash for 2-hour sessions once a week. dm for more info
What are some good options in the area? We went to Pullman's and liked the looks of it, but after reaching out and getting quick responses initially they've been unresponsive for two weeks. I've followed up multiple times but they've ghosted us, so I guess we're moving on from that.
Some context, we'll have 40-50 guests. We don't need anything grand and extravagant. Just a simple ceremony followed by a reception. We don't want a DJ but we'd like to be able to use our own devices to play music. We'd like a place that doubles as a restaurant/bar so we can have them supply food rather than using a separate caterer.
Estimated budget ~$3k
Been parking on street next the duplex i rent for 10 months, last night was the first time in 10 months i got a parking ticket. Any others been getting them recently?
